My granddaughter has asked me to teach her to sew. I told her I would do research to find the best beginner machine for her. Your review convinces me this is the best starter machine for her. Thank you for the good information.

WOW! This was a fantastic example of how to do a review.
No fluff, fillers, lifetime stories in between features, just a well executed explanation of what the machine is capable of.
    Thank you! 🙏

thank you for sharing. I took sewing at a jr college in 1999 and loved it, i wasn't able to finish the class for personal reasons, i've always wanted to give it another try since. I remember a few of the basics and think i could figure it out. I'm going to do more research on this machine. =) looks like a good one with enough features to not get bored too fast.

I kinda just bought the exact cheap machine you showed in the video because im a kid, im genuinely broke, and my parents wouldn't buy me an actual one 😭
Like my net worth is litterally $100 💀 but yeah, I already know how to sew cause I help make costumes for my school theater, and hopefully after my parents see how good I am, I can get an actual good machine :)

I was very well educated in sewing clothing and men’s trousers, and drapery fully lined with pinch pleats and about 25 years of very professional sewing. My mother bought her first sewing machine right after WWII at Sears & Roebuck and paid way too much for a poorly built machine that only did straight stitch, it didn’t even reverse but she got a mahogany cabinet so it looked like furniture to her. She would have been so much better off if she had bought a Singer straight stitch machine. She rationalized doing what she did because she had given birth to me a girl and she thought she would make dresses for me but she didn’t. Then after I was older and had taken 2 years of sewing in high school and I was actually making things at school she decided to buy another sewing machine but again she bought junk but in another walnut cabinet. The needle wasn’t centered in the middle of the presser foot, it was off to the side so you couldn’t line up your line of stitching at the normal 5/8 seam allowance and there wasn’t even a line to place your raw edge against 5/8 to the right of where the needle went down. If you tried you could have put a piece of tape to make an edge but you still couldn’t really see where you were going because it wasn’t in the center of the presser foot. Again she bought a poorly made machine. I bought a Singer when I got married and made tons of clothes for my kids and clothes for my husband and everything for my home, including upholstery, curtains, drapery, and bedspreads and headboards and benches. I truly was always taking advantage of fabric sales. When my daughter was a teen I made her formals for dances and lots of pretty clothes but she wanted store bought clothes like the other kids had so we stopped sewing. It was a sad day for me and many times I just got to do alterations which I didn’t enjoy as much as designing the entire garment. Now I have a top of the line Bernina, a Baby Lock Serger, my original Singer and a couple of cheap machines because I have taught my daughter’s Girl Scouts troop a sewing badge long ago.
