Loved the video. Loved to see the before and after including the struggle. Some bottles may have started their lives full of murky glass, riddled with bubbles and trapped particles with wonky necks and crude blob tops. This is why we love them so much. They tell us not only their birth but what they had to endure to get to us. Well done sir, thanks.
@@martinholloway7694 I don’t. I worked in a sheet metal shop so it was just another day building it. I would recommend a simple jar doctor type machine. It’s so much easier.
The best final polish I have found is the CPP aluminum oxide from Johnson Brothers Lapidary in California. The bottles come out shining with no residue to remove and there is no black foam.
Do you have a video of your wire cutting jig? Cutting up several pounds of #12 copper wire by hand is rough on the body. I’m thinking of making a motorized machine, but would appreciate your own design. Thanks!
Do you think polishing these bottles brings higher value to them? It’s been several years since I’ve sold any that I have and I never polished any of them
I like to polish my local bottles so whether they are cleaned or not it really doesn’t affect the price. The more expensive bottles depends who you talk to some people like them stained to show authenticity. Some people like them shiny. 🤷
@@skullbottleguy cool, thank you for the help. Also, I saw a really cool Rahway Liquor Store Flask on marketplace. Embossed slug plate. 162 Main St. Thought I would mention it to you, I don't collect that area so I'm unfamiliar with it. Not sure if it's common or not.
A bit off topic but I'd be really interested to see what advice you could give me (if any) for removing scratches from my front aquarium glass. There are no deep ones, all are just light surface scratches that are not even noticable when running a finger over them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, cheers!
I put up the video..Now , I think this particular blob is actually a bit rarer than others as the date in the base does not coincide with the name on the bottle
Wow loved that you gave us a great run down on how people bring the life back in these old bottles, what a beautiful collection you have
Thank you.
Wow they came out brilliant. I collect bottles from my home town.

Do you have plans for your machine? It looks great.

Thanks for sharing your very cool setup

Awesome. I will definitely look into that. Thanks.
Awesome video, very informative (as are all of your vids...), thank you!!
How did you make your copper bits? With a drill bit ?
@@jamieemes4292 yes. I worked in a sheet metal shop and I made a jig with a bit.

@@martinholloway7694 hi sorry I don’t have any videos on how to make the copper bits.

Really cool. I am going to attempt to make my own system like yours. Are you going to be at the Batsto Show?
Good luck making your machine. Batsto will depend on my kids sport schedule .
Do copper BBs work as a substitute for cut copper wire?
@@Kiz027 I never used them but was told no. The copper you buy from the jar doctor is cut on an angle.

Where can I get information on making my machine
Not sure. I just watched a couple different RUclips videos before I made mine.

I beleive they sell polish that you can rub out the scratch . Honestly I never tried to get rid of a scatch.

Does letting them soak in boiling water for an hour work? Have you tried an ultra sonic cleaner? I'm just curious if there are other ways.
I would never try boiling water. Never tried ultra sonic.
I have a nice old fashioned blob from Newark
Nice. I’ve never seen a blob old fashion.
@@skullbottleguy I'll put up a video of some of my blob tops I've acquired and show ya..
