    Sorry I cannot make this work at all and I've followed the manual exactly?

    Thanks for sharing this info. My question is what if I don't have a callsign, can I still use this?

      @SDRplayHamGuides  2 года назад +2

      Sure, you can still use it but PSKreporter will not acknowledge stations receieved without a callsign.

    Thanks for sharing! I noticed the 20m band frequency on the plugin bandselector shows 14075 and selecting it directs my RSPdx to that frequency, shouldn't it be 14074 (1kHz lower) instead? By the way, I will contact Jan van Katwijk too for more info... 73. Eric

    Nice. but why do you use it with WFM demodulation ? is FT8 not on 7074 USB ?

    • @SDRplayHamGuides
      @SDRplayHamGuides  2 года назад

      Copy and paste from the FT8 decoder manual. Page 2.
      github.com/JvanKatwijk/unoPlugins-jan/blob/master/SDRunoPlugin_ft8/ft8.pdf
      The plugin uses the SP1 output of the SDRuno platform. This output is 192000 samples per
      second. The plugin itself will reduce the samplerate to 12000 (and filter accordingly).

      Basically, it's magic, and the plug-in does the work. If you change anything besides the frequency it stops working.

    what if you don't have a callsign?

      A shortwave listening assigned callsign should work swarl.org/materials/swl-call-signs

    Can I use this plugin if I’m not licensed? I have no amateur radio callsign.

      This plugin and all RSPs that use it are receive only. A callsign is used only If you want to use the PSKreporter function of the plugin,

      Just throw in a callsign that jives with your grid square and have fun.

    Thanks for sharing Mike. Are you running this off your indoor antenna?

    • @SDRplayHamGuides
      @SDRplayHamGuides  2 года назад +1

      No., not yet but I will when we have another massive thunderstorm. That should be in an hour :)

      Indoor antennas tend to pick up noise from the computer. I took it on vacation once and was sorely disappointed. The good news is that the SDRPlay doesn't need much of an antenna to give good results. Attic antennas, rain gutter antennas, clothesline, all seem to work well.

    When I tried to download the .dll file Windows says that the file isn't commonly downloaded and to make sure that you trust it before you open it. It saved it as an "unconfirmed 727507.crdownload" file. I renamed it and placed it in the proper folder but SDRuno doesn't see it as a plugin.
    Update: I had to do a few things to make Windows happy and was able to download the files as you did, but SDRuno still doesn't see it in the plugins page.
    Update #2: I had to remove the files from the Community Plugin folder and put them in the This PC/Local Disk (C:)/Program Files (x86)/SDRPlay/SDRuno/Plugins folder to solve my problem. It works great now.

    If I use multiple VR x's, it's, do I need to have the plug in for each VRX or will one plugin show me everything across all the VRX? This would be a fantastic propagation checking and reporting tool, FT8 panadapter across bands. De WO8USA🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

    Ok, you didn't ask me, but here is my observation after two days...
    FT8 is boring. It's like watching a DX cluster. The magic is how it's able to derive anything intelligent from the Channel 6-like miasma that marks the frequencies. With the SDR display, you are able to easily see how the FT8 channel is the only thing on the band. Machines talking to other machines, no phone or CW. The scrolling is endless...
    That said, the mode is useful for propagation research and I will have to get a 6 meter antenna up to see how much it actually opens up. Is there any FT8 on 4 or 8 meters?
    We used to do that with packet radio on 2 meters 30 years ago. You'd leave it on all night and in the morning check the JHEARD list and see how far away you are hearing. One summer morning a temperature inversion allowed me to connect through the nodes from Pittsburgh to Ottawa until the sun came up and the tropo duct fell apart. It was fun! And that's the whole idea, so have fun! 😊
