nope, around 2002 every idiot wanted a M bmw and it was the beginning of what we have now, a M on almost every BMW. My dad bought this car for my mum in 1982, and the shock for Porsche drivers was enormous when we left them standing. We had the car for 10 years and we drove it to the max for 10 years until the car was finished
Had a '76 2002. Loved it. Owned 3 BMW's ('76 2002, '86 325e, '93 325is) and the 2002 was the best. Rusted out unfortunately (at 400,000 miles) and had to junk it. :-(
It would have been a nice video, but it was RUINED by the silly annoying music... So silly when trying to speak about a driving experience!.. Thanks anyway.
i used to own the e12 m535i , used to love racing ford 2.8 capri and xr2 , out of 27 cars i have owned i think golf mk1 gti and m535i are most memorable ... and first car was a mk1 1600 gt capri complete with sheepskin seat covers and black viynl roof ...
BMW, the factory; I pose the following question to you. What type of global success do you think BMW would experience if a BMW Classic Division was established; to ONLY MANUFACTURE models that were the true greatest of all time? The models must be exactly the same; as far as the exterior is concerned! Interiors must be the same bare bones interiors of the 1970's; pure & yet so very SIMPLE! Suspension s & engines? Yes, we can deviate in both of those areas; 🤗 😎. Models to consider: 2002/Turbo, 3.0 CSI, CSL etc., M1. Partner with Bilstein, have these models come with Bilstein suspension upgrade kits right from the factory. No electronic magnetic dampering whatever or traction control. Once again, pure & simple; RAW, Bilstein suspension, big anti sway bars, ceramic brakes. You recently announced a 250 hp 4 cylinder efi motor, perfect for the 2002; with/out a turbo (Garrett/KKK?). The 3.0? M5 motor would be perfect! Think about it?!? These EXACT "new" models of these cars would fly off the shelves; no doubt about it. To get the exact same car(s) with identical interiors/exteriors from those from the 1970's with M engines with Bilstein suspension kits would make so many thousands of dreams come true! These are the models worthy of being resurrected. Over time, add a highly sought after model; M635? Who knows, maybe consider doing classic restorations? You would have the skilled labor & inventory already in place. Both Ferrari & Porsche are now doing restorations. Look how successful Ford has been in trying to replicate the older style Mustangs in their current line up today. How about Chrysler with the Charger & Challenger? They both came somewhat close; but NOT close enough in matching the olde school look 😠! You have to EXACTLY MATCH the exterior, to be truly taken back in time; aerodynamics aside. That would TRULY create EXCITEMENT in new ownership!!! There's a 3.0 CSL Hommage R floating around out there, not bad; but not IT! Has to have the BIG WINDOWS & SQUARE FRONT END. No physical changes; at least ones you can physically see. So, if the BMW Classics Division (BCD) created 10,000 of the 2002, 3.0 & M1; how fast do you think they would sell? BCD would bring an absolutely incredible amount of excitement to BMW; much bigger than what the C8 Corvette has done for Chevrolet! Resurrecting the M1, alone, would be huge! Face it, there's a global mid engine craze going on right now. Germany, outside of Audi with the R8; is in denial for whatever reason. Is Germany merely surrendering to it; allowing the Italians to run with the ball? Break the M1 out of the closet; M motor, Bilstein suspension upgrade & a rear wing. I know, I know; I make it sound so easy. Undoubtedly, there's more to it than what I suggest. Anyway, M1 has some great 2022 potential.
please cut the background music so that we can hear clearly how the engines sound?
Yes, good point indeed...ditch the music. I'm much more interested in the outstanding engine than some music...please.
Great idea, great cars, I wish I could hear them over the pointless music.
Just need an e21 group 5 turbo car and it would be the perfect quintet of BMW motorsport
You left out the e21
BMW becames great when the 2002 was launched.

Yerrie it is the model 2002 (e10)
@@yerrie1908 he's talking about the BMW 2002, not the year 2002

Great revive, lovely scenery and stunning classic cars.

“Kapri”?
I would choose the CSL.
Kinda hard to hear the cars through that loud music. Me, I want the 3.0! But not going turn any of them away!
70s definitely is when BMW became great. 2004 is when bmw fell from grace
Or it is that other auto manufacturers caught up?
@@bobkovach1426 definitely not the case. Cars just suck now.
They're all my favourites
Hey, can I use a few scenes from your video for an Instagram post?
With the pre war 328.
Yep - or the 507 👍🏻
@@giorgiodelpalatinato6718 yes but 507 was a pleasure car. 328 was a winning race car
Great video!!!
Agree with everyone else's comments WHY the music?
M535i thank you very much...
Who's that guy?
I totally stopped watching TOP GEAR when the original 3 guys left..
That's not a 73 2002, they had round taillights.
Du liegst falsch. 1973 kam das Facelift beim 2002.
2002 💫
Ruined by the music 🙄
As everyone else said, lose the music...
e21 all day
Ditch the music.
BMW turned great when they poached the Ford racing engineers and made the M Division.
M1 any day..

Yes, the 1970's are when BMW became great, And the 2000's are when they stopped being great and became ugly, unreliable, overpriced rubbish.
Wrong my F33 has no reliability issues and neither did my E92
