About hand equality. In my recent studies I have found that kit drummers, ie: me, use either too much power in the downstroke especially with fingers. So aim to be a lot lighter with the left hand on the finger controlled strokes. Also watch Buddy Riche's left hand butt end of the stick. The seesaw end that goes below the rim or line of address. Try this. Hold your left stick a few inches below the butt of your right stick. Tap the right butt end against the stick (means tip is up) and then two tip taps on the drum head (rocker motion). Then try it with the left. An exercise for lightness. I hope I got it explained right. I had seen someone playing that on a hihat as one hand trick triplets. Too much force and it goes nowhere.
