i was going through the comments as there is slight change in ans for last question but wasn't able to get one so here is how I did it
8/3-Sr +8/3+Sr = 6
8 (1/3-Sr + 1/3+Sr) =6
take LCM (3-Sr , 3+Sr) = (3-Sr)x(3+Sr)
8 ( 3+Sr + 3-Sr ) / (3-Sr)x(3+Sr) = 6
8 ( 6 ) / (3-Sr)x(3+Sr) = 6 { for numerator 3 +Sr +3 -Sr = 6 }
8/ (3-Sr)x(3+Sr) = 1 { 6 on both sides cancel out each other }
Now (3-Sr)x(3+Sr) can be seen as IDENTITY (a+b)(a-b) = a^2 - b^2
so here a = 3 and b =Sr hence a^2 - b^2 = 3^2 - Sr^2 i.e 9 - Sr^2
8 = 9 - Sr^2
Sr^2 = 9 -8
Sr^2 = 1 and Sr = 1 km/hr
Tu = 8/3-Sr =8/3-1 = 8/2 = 4 hr
Td = 8/3+Sr = 8/3+1 = 8/4 = 2 hr
hence we got our ans (ps - calculation is easy just to make it more clear i have written in elaboration)
Useful🙌
Helpful! thanks.
Thanks a lot !
Why not SR= root 1? Coz SR^2=1, please explain
@@dhruvxkhanna if A^2 = 4 then A = root 4 i.e. 2. another example if A^3 = 27 then A = cube 27 i.e. 3
Data should be interchange 40,60 because Time should be greater in upstream as comparing to down stream
True af
Lol chill
That happens sometime when Math has rivalry with Physics 😂😂
Bilkul
In the last ques, we can also take S(b) = { S(d)+S(u) }/2 i.e. 3={ 8/t(d) + 8/t(u) }/2
after solving this eq we'll get t(d) x t(u)= 8;
which is possible only when t(d) = 2hrs and t(u) = 4hrs
last question : answer it is (9-Sr^2) instead of (9-Sr)^2..?
Ya ya there is little error
the answer to the last question would be would be 2hrs downstream and 4hrs upstream
correct
Yes
Bhai did you cleared cat ??
Kya baat h padhai bhi karta h tu hero
@@safar-nama9678 real I'd se aao 😂
A better solution for the last question can be as follows :-
Total time = ( T'up) + (T'down) =6 hrs....(i)
Time in still water would be 8/3 hrs (according to question)
We know that T'up, T'still and T'down are in HM
Therefore T'still=2* ( T'up) * (T'down)/ ( T'up) + (T'down)
=> 8/3 = 2* ( T'up) * (T'down)/ 6 ........(from (i))
=> ( T'up) * (T'down) = 8...........(ii)
From (i) & (ii)
T'up =4; T'down=2 ( as T'up > T'down)
Can you explain how ( T'up) * (T'down) = 8?
@@anannyapadhi828exactly,why is he multiplying both time taken???
@@sudhanshushekhar4710they r in hm...its the property of harmonic mean (hm)
Good Approach,
But in the end , you'll end up getting quadratic equation and that will consume more time and makes the answer lengthy.
@@anannyapadhi828same mere wala haal😂❤
boat will take less time in downstream
Sir in 2/7 th km, problem.
First we can, determine .....time in still water by HP RULE, =5/21 hr.
Then speed = 2/7 ÷ 5/21
In first question data is interchanged and another question 4:1and last question time in upstream=4hrs and time in downstream=2hrs 😅I think,I am 💯 correct 😂😅
Sir, I am very grateful to you. I have never understood this concept with such fantastic clarity, especially with a multi-disciplinary set of problems 25:29
I have a doubt in question no1 .. how can a boat take more time in downstream while covering same distance .. as speed is more in downstream. ??? 😄😄
I was going to write the same problem but found your comment. I think they misprinted it.
Right, there should be downstream at the place of upstream..
it's not just for one question but for many! But the content is still the class!
Thats why its recommended to watch the FULL VIDEO .
In the first question , how is time taken while travelling downstream lesser than time taken while travelling upstream? Since speed will be greater in downstream , time taken should be less , right ?
Sir, at 25:17 ratio of time taken to be calculated upstream to downstream right?? so should the ratio be 4:1
yeah, I too have the same doubt?
can anyone clear it, please?
Yeah it will be 4:1
Yeah, it's 4:1 he forgot that it's written upstream then downstream
28:03 i think there should be 9-sr^2 not (9-sr)^2
the last qtz asks u to find Time for upstream & downstream.How is the ans in kmph i.e in terms of speed??
the answer needs to be in time i.e.in hours
the answer would be 2hrs downstream and 4hrs upstream
In last qus answer is 2 hour and 4 hour
in the last question, (3-Sr)(3+Sr) wont be (9+Sr)^2, it would be 3^2-Sr^2
sir, at 25:15 ratio of time taken to be calculated upstream to the downstream right?? so should the ratio be 4:1 in the answer??
please clear it!
Yep, I was thinking the same there
yes so the ratio of speed of upstream to downstream is 12:48 which is1:4 and the ratio of their time will be 4:1
can be either of the two
i was thinking the same
When Distance is constant -Speed is inversely proportional to Time
So If the Ratio of speed is 4:1
Then time taken is -1:4 Ans.
can someone explain how downstream distance is equal to 3/2 upstream distance in 2nd question ?
In order to remove decimal, sir multiplied both numer. n denom. by 2.
1.5 times can be written as 3/2
“One half“ means 1/2
“One and a half” means 1.5 or 3/2
thank you so much @@chetansingh405
In question 1, since the total distance is constant can we do 48-8x=36+4x? where x is the speed of river
Answer for last question is 2 hr and 4 hr
Since times are in HP therefore
Still water time = (2 a*b)/(a+b)
> 8/3 = (2 a*b)/6
=(a*b)/3
Since a+b = 6
Then a*b =8 only when a=2 and
b=4
In question 1, the boat reaches faster ie in 40 sec when it's travelling upstream but takes more time when it travels downstream? Isn't that wrong formulation of question?
question wrong but answer is correct.just exchange the values of time
in Q1 the time is given as 40s and 60s. then why sir has taken speed as 40s and 60s in AP method ?
Brother, rewind and see that concept of AP and HP again.. Speeds are in AP as distance is constant. Speed inverse to time.. So time will be in HP..2ac/a+c is formula for hp. So what he took is time only
For 1st question...why can't we apply- Sb = Sd + Su/2 ....by this method answer is 50s unlike AM & HM method.
Again, in 2nd Last question- Ratio of speed should be Su/Sd na...?
Great explanation
Sir u r fantabulous
Where i can contact u
Unacademy plus .. search Ravi Prakash
lot of mistakes in the questions
Just note that in 1st problem upstream time can never be greater than downstream time
2nd problem also
sir at 12 25 question is asked about the ration of the time upstream to downstream so what was the ratio please clear ??
This concept and videos use full of the cat 2024??
at 24:59 , ratio of speeds should be 1:4 upstream:downstream as given in question. why is it reversed?
sir has taken downstream:upstream as 4:1, both are samething
@@sanklan10 why he didnt take upstream:downstream and then inverse it for time?? please clear
same question, its probably by mistake
🟠⚪ Great fruitful session ⚪🟠
In last question it must be (3^2-Sr^2), mustn't it ?
Yeah! You are right😮
Su. 4 and sd 2 hrs
The data is first ques is wrong wrt time.
18:05 I didn't get how he write 3/2 instead of 1/2
because its one and half
why not using hp concept?
it makes a lot easier,
anyway thankyou sir!!!
What is that concept? Can you give link of a video where it's explained or tell me here please?
It is explained in chapter time,speed and distance: part 5
in the last que why cant we take the avg of speed of upstream and downstream and equate it to speed of boat and with that we need to assume one time as X and other side time as 6-X and then solve the equation ?? (why its not working in this case)
its working
I think there is a mistake in 1st question.
Good videos sir 🙏🏻
great sir u r amazing
In question one T(u) should be 60 sec instead of 40 sec and T(d) should be 40 sec instead of 60 sec as T(u) should be > than T(d) . Am I correct?
yes
Fourth ques mn sir distance downstream=3/2 of distance upstream kese le li?
We can discuss on telegram group
Its 1 and 1/2 mixed fraction simplified
1+1/2=3/2
great videos sir
How to get lcm 35 ??
Guys saws his logic...
Why doesn't boat goes diagonally?
The motion studied here is 1-dimensional linear motion. Assume everything moves in a straight line. The velocites of the boat and the river are either parallel or anti-parallel.
bhai neend me video bnata h kya... out of 5 quest 3 you did wrong!
Thankyou sir
Thankyou sir 🙏
Hey are u also preparing for cat 2k24
sir down stream is speed of river + speed of boat.so it should reach the destination faster compared to upstream....then why the destination time in downstream higher than upstream? 11:54
I think the question is wrong, it should be time taken for upstream 60s and for downstream 40s.
jee😍
Are these lectures relevant for CAT24?
Yes
We get Sr as 1 in the last problem. There's as error
In last que u miss the question to find time of ascent and decent
He did find it 2hr and 4hr respectively
Hii folks 🌚
There are lots of mistakes in question formation in this video . How canboat take less time when going upstream and more time when going downstream .
