Urbex: DOOMED and ABANDONED Ontario Manor

- *NOW DEMOLISHED*
Here is a video tour exploring an abandoned manor that ended in demolition (early November 2018) and replaced by new development on its almost 90 acres of land. This 140-year-old manor has a colourful history dating back to 1878. Due to renovations and additions, it did not qualify for heritage status. The estate was named “Dorindale” after the former resident, Dorinda, known as “Dinnie”, age 97 (as of 2018). She survived 3 husbands. Once she moved to a retirement home in the spring of this year (2018), the developer started the demolition preparation.
This property was an icon to London, Ontario hosting many annual barn parties. Even one of Canada’s Prime Ministers spent time visiting while writing a book in this manor. The manor, Dorindale, had many horses on the property while also holding greyhound races. Just last year (2017), Dorinda was admitted to the London Sports Hall of Fame as an international judge and accomplished equestrian. She also won the first international dressage competition. So horses were a very big focus at the Dorindale Estate.
Dorinda sold the house to Drewlo Holdings (the developer) more than 30 years ago where they allowed her to stay as long as she liked. The agreement between the two was called “life tenancy”.
There was a fire at the barn in behind the manor in February of this year (2018). Five horses were inside at the time but fortunately survived and were relocated to others’ stables.
The London Theatre Awards are named after Dorinda’s parents. Her father was a judge. Her mother was the granddaughter of Thomas McCormick, the candy making magnate. McCormick’s was a large well-known candy/biscuit factory in London, Ontario which has now closed down and sits abandoned as well.

Hey everyone! This is a very recent explore which I was not anticipating. I had been keeping an eye on this gorgeous place for years as I knew it was doomed. Driving past there recently, I noticed the occupants had moved out in preparation for its last days before demolition. I wasn’t prepared to explore, but knowing how fast these places are demolished, I knew I had to get in there and document it ASAP, even though I only had my cell phone to record with. I didn’t know when I’d be back here again, and it was just a matter of days at this point. Next time I was in the area, it was a pile of rubble, so I’m glad I got in there just in time. It also has quite the history, so please check the description for more details on that. Thanks for watching! ❤️If you are subscribed, please make sure you hit that bell to be notified of new releases. 🛎
Pam, you're back!!!!♥️🤗♥️🤗♥️🤗♥️🤗♥️
Always a great day to find another offering from you, dear Lady.Thanx
Thank You, amazing video
Please don't go away again, Pam.
Have you any idea of the crap I've had to watch?!
Keep your eye on those lawn chairs-they multiply in the dark..... THEY'RE TRYING TO TAKE OVER!!!! 😂🤣♥️
I'm so glad you're back! I love your videos. You take your time and really explore, unlike others I've seen. They were all men, btw. Sorry guys, but women like to see the details of these places, like the woodwork and light fixtures, old staircases, etc. Anyway, I hope you will still continue exploring! 🙂
Good to see you back again.
Thanks!
Wow, another great explore, thank you for sharing! I just realized this manor house was only 43 years young when last owner “Dinnie” was born. The original builder was probably still alive at that time, crazy to imagine. That home was obviously well loved by its last owner, for a very long time. She not only outlived three husbands but also her manor home as well.
You know, probably 90% of urban explorers are male. I just want to tell you it’s very refreshing to get a woman’s perspective on these places. That said, I think you, “Farm Hunter” in the US and “Urbex Indigo” in Australia are the top three explorers, period, end of story. You guys keep it real, grown up and take your time so we can enjoy the details. Great job!
Thanks so much!
Urban exploring with Kappy is good too
YAY NEW TIKI!
Sad though that all of this history got demolished :(
Another great video, great to have you back. I’m actually glad someone has been to the trouble to take all the wood trim as hopefully it will be put to good use in another home otherwise it would have been crushed. Such a waste to knock those trees down too 😡
Hi Tiki.I used to watch your videos with my mother in law and she really liked you and your videos. She's gone now but I'm glad that she enjoyed our time here.Better than television.
Hi Will. I'm so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. I'm glad I was able to provide some enjoyment during her time here with us.
Developers do usually pay a hefty sum for a property they're eyeing, but over the long haul everyone pays the price as green spaces are paved over and trees cut, density increases, traffic increases, crime increases etc.. It wouldn't be bad if it was just a property here or there, but it's a monster with an unending appetite. The only thing that ends it is when density reaches code red, the shoddily built structures decay, it turns into a slum, and no one wants to be there anymore, then on to do it all over again someplace else. I guess it happens over a long enough time that people really don't notice, but future generations will. Money and an ever growing tax base isn't everything, most people need some degree of space to be truly comfortable. In Florida every new housing community has maybe 5 feet of space between the houses that are packed in 100's to a development and they start to fall apart after 10 or 20 years. It's an experiment at this point to see how many suburbanites you can pack in to a space before they go truly bat@^$# nuts. It seems to be happening everywhere. I want a lawn and windows that don't look into someone else's bedroom. Sorry for the rant.
It breaks my heart to see such a place torn down, but she held out longer than the development company thought, I'm sure.
All of the history in that home, what an absolute shame. I can picture it in its glory days! One good thing is that pieces of it will live on through the salvaged items, thankfully. Thank you for documenting Ontario! 💕
I just seen a video you did in 2013 the lady who has a lot of cat's, My first time watching your video you are sincere and give a lot of info I am now a subscriber and have a lot of catching up to do.
Good to see you are ok and alive! Was wondering where you went. Welcome back!
SO Wonderful to have you back!
This was a Beautiful old house! It's so sad when developers come in and tear these beauties down, only to build cookie cutter houses. There was a HUGE old house in the farm lands near me. I passed it whenever I went to another town. One day I saw that it was For Sale and it was zoned for commercial property. My heart sank when I saw that a developer had purchased the large property. About 6 months later, I realized that this developer was not planning to demolish the building. He renovated it instead and now there's a company in it. I have no idea what the inside looks like, but the outside looks beautiful!
Missed you Tiki! Was thinking about you and your urbex tours just the other day; glad you're well. ^-^
WELCOME BACK TIKI!! WE'VE MISSED YOU. HOPE ALL IS WELL
Thank you! I've missed all of you as well!
Tiki!!! Shame that all these places get demolished, but it’s good you’re able to show the world before they’re lost to just memories for ever and ever. The new intro is a neat touch. Thanks for the upload :)
Thanks for documenting abandoned dwellings. Always interesting to see the architecture. Appreciate your work.
Another great tour of a very interesting house. First time I saw a "shared" closet! Thanks Tiki, enjoy your tours so much, take care.
It's so good to see you back after so long, we've all missed you!
I've missed all of you as well!
Always love your videos… you really show the whole house and all the rooms ….. been watching your videos for many years now … was so excited to see you making new ones again….Rich ……
You’re awesome, Rich! Thanks so much!
So sweet-- I'm so glad you got this before it was demolished
Hi. I am so glad you seized the moment and documented this house, well done - just in the nick of time as well. Great (but noisy lol) explore. Take care - from one fearless lady to another. You are my favourite explorer.
Cool Explore :) I once explored a house before it got demolished last year that was build in the 1950s :) you have one of the best urban exploration channels on RUclips :)
Waving hello 👋🏻 I just love your explorations , I was happy to get your notification ... Thanks so much I really enjoy your videos..
Hello back! 👋That's awesome. Thanks for the nice comment.
Nice to see you're back and awesome video thanks for sharing. It is sad to see the old homes and farms go for boring developments that end up empty as well.
Glad that you got into it before the demo. That was a nice home once upon a time.
Im really happy you're posting again. The history on this house was really interesting. What a shame
It's a nice stately manor what a shame it could not be saved it has some very interesting history so sad these historical places get demolished. Great seeing you again.
I was waiting for Liberace to come out of that one bathroom.... Was definitely his colors :). Thank you again for a great tour!
Happy, Happy to see you back..Wonderful old place..Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Pam..

Very glad to see you back...we've missed your videos!
I somehow ended up unsubscribed to your channel but just tonight fond you making videos again. I'm so pleased to see you back doing your explorations. I've always found your videos to be relaxing to watch and interesting explorations too. I'm glad to have found your channel active again.
It's so good to have you exploring again. I've really missed your videos. Did you notice the trap door in the ceiling in one of the upstairs rooms that went to the attic?
Welcome back! Funny I was thinking of you when I visited an old fire tower and surrounding old buildings last week. I took a few still shots.
I'm so glad that your back exploring abandoned houses/barns. I throughly enjoy the way you videotape taking your time and explaining everything. Please keep up the excellent job and you have a fan for life😀😀😀
Nice to see you back, Tiki! We were worried about you :)
Hey Tiki! Loved the video. You mentioned in the description about the McCormick candy/biscuit factory in London, Ontario which has now closed down and sits abandoned as well. Is there a chance you might be able to explore the factory?
I suggest getting a drone and using that for the too-dangerous parts, @TikiTrex! You'd have to learn to fly it, but that is half the fun. :)
Awesome video, thanks for the share. I did read the description and your pinned comment and watched the whole video. I recently went through the McCormick factory with a few friends at night time.. Stairs were frozen, most dangerous thing I ever saw.. Sketched me out a little bit..Stay safe out there on your explores
Yay! Thanks for taking us along. Hopefully you will be able to share more new explores soon. Happy that you are back.
Awesome!!!! Glad you’re back!! Enjoy all your explorations!!
Thanks so much!
You made my day! Thank you for the new video TikiTrex!
Happy to see you exploring again!
Soooooo glad to see your back! I have missed your videos..
10:20. Ghostly sounds when you say ''steange little corridor here""
Beautiful home and lineage of the person you acknowledged. Too bad family members couldn't develop it into a bed and breakfast place. This lady knew elegance.
She sure did.
Awesome video!
I don't know if I hadn't receive notification or if my phone has been messing up. :(
I have missed you!!!!
You have one of the most beautiful voices!
Can't wait for your next video!!
Thank you so much, Bonnie! That's very sweet of you. ❤️ It seems that many are having the same issue of not receiving notifications of my newer videos. I've talked to RUclips about it, to no avail. Their only advice to me was to make sure the subscribers hit the bell notification, but this never seemed to be a problem before. Strange, but I'm glad you found the video. 🙂
So glad you are back. You are the best urban explorer.
Thank you!
You are my favourite explorer and missed your videos glad your back 😁
Thanks Pam for sharing with me this video about Urbex DOOMED and ABANDONED Ontario Manor it was very shocking how much scrappers can take stuff off a house so quickly and easy they do it just like a pro . and I really enjoyed this video I guess I must off missed this one but I am glad I viewed this one too and God Bless you my friend and I am glad to see you are back Pam making those awesome videos you always did a great job doing what you are good at and thanks again .
Glad you found one of the other recent videos! Thanks for checking it out along with the great comments. :)
It's always nice to get a new video from my favorite Explorer! If you want to get an idea of what the window trim looked like @8:34 the window in the stairwell still has it's fancy trim in tact. Welcome back and 2 thumbs up!
Thanks so much!
good to see you again, you are the best explorer ever (i think, you are a teacher), very sensitive, respectful, best voice ever, keep up the good work (if you enjoy it :) ) couse we love you, at least i do, very much.
Wonderful to see you exploring, and glad to see you still doing it.. great job as always and thanks for keeping us entertained but also teaching us history of buildings before they are lost.
Thanks! I try to do my best. :)
Hi I'm new to the channel and watch alot of urban explorers and can I say wow that place is stunning such a shame it's on a be demolished ... Seen this and the cat lady's vid so far and I love how u are so respectful of where u go it saddens me when u see all the deliberate damage and graffiti.... Please be careful out there. :) . I'm looking forward to catching up on all ur vids sending hellos and well wishes from Cornwall in the UK xx
That looks to have been, at one time, a stunning home! The property it sat on was beautiful, as well! Fantastic explore as always!
Thank you for posting! I love that you not only create an excellent video but also provide a bit of history on the location and family when able. That makes your videos even more interesting. I just finished reading the article. Very informative but I found it odd how they ended it with a mention of her brother and sister in law choosing an assisted suicide.
Love the house.. sad to hear it's gone...
Also love your intro.
So glad you're back
Hey Tiki good to see you back I have a couple of questions i wanted to ask you
1) when did you start exploring abandoned buildings?
2) what made you want to start exploring?
These are just questions that I have being wondering about ever since I have started watching your channel I really like your videos.
Hey Bradley, I started exploring over 30 years ago in my early 20s. I guess you could say the curiosity in me is what got me started. If I stumbled across an abandoned structure, I just had check it out. Back then, there wasn't even a name for it, and I didn't even know it was a "thing". Just thought it was some weird thing I was interested in. Glad you enjoy the videos, and thanks for commenting.
I would be broken hearted....thank you for preserving the memory of this structure
Excelente exploración compañera...es un abanadonó enorme...like👍😊🏚️🔦
So glad to see you exploring again! I love all of these amazing abandoned places, thank you for sharing!
Glad to see you back! Love your vids.
Yay can’t believe your back. We’ve missed you
Wow, great explore! To see this home back in it's prime would be amazing. Loved the cabinetry, shelves, & windows. To have a house with so much space would be my dream. Thanks for taking the time to explore this beauty and for looking up the history on this place. Thanks to you this beautiful home & it's rich history will never die. :)
Nicely done! Thanks for sharing!
Yay!!! Was so excited to see a notification~ had to comment before I even watched😊
Wow it looked like it was beautiful. I don't blame the owners for holding out until the last minute. The wood floors upstairs under the carpet that had been pulled back looked like they were in perfect shape. Glad to see something new from you, love your videos.
Thanks. I don't blame them, either.
Hi from South Africa. Was so glad to see a new video! Thank you for sharing it with us. Welcome back.
Love.all the little built in shelves. Sad to know it's coming down.
Recently came across your videos, they are awesome!! It's a shame to see such beautiful places go away, but for progress. I've seen many places like this in my travels, but only photographed. Keep on exploring, be safe!!
Nice explore. Thanks tiki.
Love your videos! Glad to see you back! ❤️
Always happy to see you upload!
I'm sure that you've already heard this many times but it's great to see you back! I still have to watch your previous 2 uploads (-;
You guys are the best! Thanks.
I am so glad you are active again! Your videos are one of the things that inspired me to start my own channel. Was about to ask if this house was in London but then read the description. Most of the houses you documented on Southdale Rd 2 years ago have now been redeveloped. I don't know if you live in the London area but if you do you must be one of our most popular RUclips creators. KUTGW!
Glad your back. Good video👍
Thank you so much for the update. Still love you and your videos😎
Thank you!
That first room was prob a butler’s pantry. Enjoy all your videos so much!❤️😍❤️
Another awesome TikiTrex adventure!!! Glad you gout this place filmed before it was gone! Keep up the good work, and even with the cell phone video, it honestly looks just as awesome as the other videos!!! ❤️

Interesting story behind it all.
Thank you, Don.
Yay so glad you're back we were all worried about you. 😘
Just love your videos.😃👍
Erik from sweden
I was worried about you when you were gone so long. I thought of you often and wondered how you were doing. Missed seeing your videos posted up since I have watched them all.
Nice to see you tikki. Might be for the best they demolished this, that traffic noise would drive me nuts. Lol
Thanks! It definitely has turned into a very busy area.
Great exploration! People demolish the most wonderful things, our world is so wasteful.
I have to go exploring in Ontario.. It's crazy how much they pay for new development. In my town they're building a new highway through the middle of it. I don't know one person that didn't get under $125k and some of their houses were only worth about $50k. It's insane but really sad.
Oh wow I finally got a notification for a new vid, be still my beating heart!
❤️
Hi my Favorit urban Explorer 👍🏼😃
Soooo happy to hear you and see that you are on the move to find out new places 😀
Thank you so much for your great video and most good narrating 👍🏼
