I absolutely loved The Kingdom Choir's performance of this song at Harry and Meghan's wedding - they just flooded that church with their generous spirit, warmth and deep humanity! So I guess my arrangement is a reflection of that feeling .. gratitude for that moment of peaceful bliss .. and another exploration of Pachelbel's Canon too .. incorporating it into all these songs feels a bit like exploring different forests with the same friend :-)

When an instrumental brings you to tears because it’s so beautiful
The harmonisation you make is enchanting. And where you make the two songs together, at the same time, is just wonderfull.
During my music classes, my piano teacher always tells me about feeling the melody, from the fingertips to the heart and soul, and then let it reverberate through the public’s minds. You do that with such ease, it’s amazing. I have started some of your arrangements for fun. My teacher loves them, and she is always eager to ear the progress I’ve made.
I'm really honoured that you are learning my arrangements! And so glad that your teacher approves! I really put a lot of thought and love into them - I want to be able to look piano teachers in the eye ;-) .. Sounds like you have a great teacher! I will never forget a truly life changing mind blowing lesson I had with my teacher Natasha Vlassenko when I was studying at the Conservatorium in Brisbane - she told me "you can try as much as you like to play legato with your fingers on the keys.. connect them as smoothly as you can.. but you are not playing a cello.. you press a key.. what happens? .. a HAMMER HITS A STRING.. the piano is a percussion instrument.. legato is impossible.. end of story, right?" And then she pointed to the air about a meter above the piano and said "Paul.. here you can make magic happen and defy the physics.. you can connect the sounds.. but you have to do it with your ears.. and not your fingers" .. she then took her fifth finger of her right hand and played a melody only with that finger.. bouncing high off the keys and back down and said "If you look at what I am doing there is no way this melody can be legato right? .. Close your eyes and listen to it though .. and it IS" .. It was too.. it was perfect.. I was gobsmacked! Ever since then I always imagine this little magical cloud of sounds above the piano.. like a nebula.. and I try and make the music there.. I guess that is what is so MAGICAL about the piano.. it can defy the odds.. defy physics almost.. it transcends its supposed limitations and inspires us to attempt to do the same! This song means the world to me. Growing up my sisters and I shared a room and my dad always made sure to sing this to us every night. Anytime it came on I’d run over to him and dance to it as I got older. He recently just passed and we have no idea why it happened. It was so sudden and unexpected. I am having a really rough time without him being in still really young and as was he. I hope one day I walk down the aisle to this. 🥹❤️

Wow. This is incredible. One of the last memories I had with my grandma was listening to Stand By Me, one of her favorite songs. Hearing this took me back to all of the great memories I got to share with her before she passed. Can’t wait to hear more music from this guy.

I just watched this 5 times in a row. The last 3 listened with my eyes closed. I could feel myself wrapped in a warm blanket, with the fireplace crackling in the background, as I looked out a picture window at the spring rain. I could so vividly see (feel) the water dripping off of the tree leaves, the red and pink azaleas shiver with the raindrops, and the white daffodils slowly bending down under the weight of the water.
I wish I could explain this, but there is just no way. It is still playing even more times as I write this. Thank you so much for sharing this.

Paul I dont know how I missed this piece a year ago but holy cow its amazing. Your mashups are always masterful but the way you combined the two melodies over one another in this piece is next level. I listened to it 3 times to focus on stand by me, then canon, then both again. Holy cow - it's a brain bender to listen to, I dont know how you do something like this. Just truly amazing!!!!

Your videos blow me away every time, especially the ones where you intertwine Pachelbel. Stand By Me is a song that always reminds me of my father, and the anniversary of his passing was just 2 days ago, so this piece moved me in particular. I was a classical pianist from the age of 6 to 17 when my dad passed, and your videos truly make me want to sit back down and play. If you take suggestions, perhaps intertwining Pachelbel with Anywhere but Here by Safetysuit or Never Stop by Safetysuit? Both are beautiful songs I could see myself dancing to at my own wedding one day. You are a truly gifted and inspiring pianist.

Thank you so much for this beautiful piece! I had another song picked to walk down the aisle to, then I heard this. We canceled our wedding just after Covid started. Months went by and it crushed me to know I wasn't marrying my best friend in 2020, so we planned a micro wedding on our original date.
