I saw Kevin Eldon do this live yesterday, in full Tony Rudd costume, and instead of a guitar he had Franz Ferdinand as a backing band. It will live with me till the day I die.

Genuinely one of the funniest things I've ever seen. The build up. The initial "Machadaynu". The brief pause and turn to the camera before the scream. The fact the most futuristic music they could envisage involves an acoustic guitar. Brilliant.

Completely agree, it is the build up, and the notion that what is about to follow is the result of some sort of deeply considered solution to the problem, that sells it. Look Around You should have won every award going, but it got drowned out somehow by more conventional things. Some of the conceits were brilliant. I remember, a "computer for women" (with a space to put your lipstick), enthusiastically promoted by the female presenters as a big step forward for women's lib which told you everything you needed to know about how enlightened the 70s and early 80s really were in practice. It was very clever satire.

@@simonjones7727I agree, "LOOK AROUND YOU" is the most brilliant gem in the crown of Adult Swim, but it's only funny to "us"; that is, people who were made to watch such things in school back in the 1970/80's... (You remember the janitor wheeling in the TV when teacher had a hangover)... No one under 40 years old could get the humor of it, because those types of "educational entertainment for higher-grade students" were long gone before they were born... They don't remember "321 CONTACT" or "Reading Rainbow " or "Newton's Apple with Ira Plato", so the whole joke was lost on everyone but us Gen X'rs.

There were a few people in the audience who reacted but most of them were probably confused as fuck. He tried playing it on the guitar but said he didn’t know the chords so he just sang it a capella which made it even better.
