i feel the guy's perseverance to become a singer stems from his wive's rejection. tbh my problem with the guy wasn't his singing it was that he was inconsiderate and a little vain. I mean consider your family, sing at responsible hours. Even Yesung said he would sing quieter when he had to practise at night to consider his neighbours. It seems as if he only thinks about himself and his singing. He didn't know his wife's dream, and they're going through a divorce... people are like "oh but let him pursue his dream!" he has been but he hasn't been thinking of his family. I think it's easy for people who don't have families or don't understand what it's like to be an adult with a family to not understand that he is making his wife's and kid's lives very difficult. He also wanted people's opinions, and the audience gave their honest opinion. Park Ki Young also gave him a very realistic opinion. I also come from a parent who does music professionally, and his voice isn't terrible but he doesn't have the basics down. If it was his dream since long ago, I would've thought he would have worked a bit more towards his dream and worked on technical skills rather than copying someone else's style.

To be honest I can kind of relate to the son in the second concern. Keeping anger and complaints on the inside until it sometimes erupts out. My mum's pretty similar in the sense she seems like a really graceful and nice person to other people, but is really passive-aggressive in her anger towards me at home. I was a bit surprised that Shownu and Kihyun were the members chosen to be on Hello Counselor since they're two of the less outgoing members (as opposed to, say, Minhyuk) but I'm so proud of them for representing Monsta X!!! I'm only on the first concern but I want to say I'm so proud of Shownu standing his ground with his belief that the man should try for his dream even when everyone else obviously disagreed with him.

I agree that moving out would be the best option, however rents in South Korea (particularly Seoul) are on a whole different level than here in Europe (or where you live I'm assuming too). There's a reason why it's absolutely normal to stay with your parents until you get married or have a high salery in South Korea, you just can't afford to buy or even rent something.

As a big sister, the last concern especially upset me, particularly when she cried while saying that her sister tells her not to say hi when they see each other at school. I can't imagine saying that to my little sister if we went to the same school. I never understood how siblings could do that, especially when you're the older one.

First concern : I actually want him to continue his dream but at the same time being a married man he should continue to help his wife. I felt bad for him cause every body was making fun of his dream and the lady to tell him that he won't make it was very rude. She ain't Jesus to know about his future. One day who knows if he try harder he might achieve his dream. So instead of saying some one you won't make it try to encourage that person that you will achieve if you try harder but give first priority as husband and father
His dream is nice, and it's not an impossibility. However, he won't make it the way he is right now. He has to face the truth and then do something about it. Either he changes the truth by getting better, or he gives up on his dream, or slightly changes it. He probably earns more doing his normal job than a lot of singers do, so he has to think about that as well. Being a singer might look glamorous and all, but it's not really a high paying job unless you're popular.

Sure she was wrong saying he should stop dreaming but he himself is wrong too. Trying hard to achieve your dreams and simply hoping for it to happen one day are completely different things. With the money he's wasting on Karaoke and drinking, he could easily start by taking singing lessons. Also, he doesn't seem to care that for his selfishness he is sacrificing his daughter's health and growth. He really needs to start being a better father and husband. Saying his dream is impossible is bad. There is never a 0% chance. He just needs to put in the effort. Take Beethoven for example, he was deaf but he became one of the biggest composers today. I think, that impression of Shownu not caring is a misconception. He doesn't express himself a lot, because he's a very introverted and shy person outside of his stage persona, but he certainly cares a lot and not just about his loved ones or fans. For example, during the first concern, he actively suggested the man to get a job at a live café to practice singing in front of an audience and as many others already pointed out, he didn't laugh when the man sang. He knew how much this dreams means to him.

as someone who was raised by krn parents and grandparents, i can hella relate to the son in the 2nd story. my grandma and i used to fight like crazy bc she used to nag abt literally everything and all of our disagreements would devolve into fights. and as i got older i tried to make sure that i was the one that tried to remain calm and level, but she would start yelling abt how she should die bc apparently i don't care abt her or how i'm a useless granddaughter bc i didn't agree with her abt smth and shit would hit the fan again XD if that's the kind of mom he lives with, then i feel like only moving out would solve their issues lol

The First Concern: I know everyone thinks they are being rude but the lady is so right, was it direct? Yes. Was it rude? Maybe. Was it the truth? Most likely. He's decent but he will almost certainly not become a big time singer, I do think they went wrong by making it seem like he shouldn't sing, I hope he can find ways to sing and earn money or at least sing and be comfortable that it is just a hobby but at this point his marriage is failing so he needs to think carefully.

I agree that moving out would be the best option, however rents in South Korea (particularly Seoul) are on a whole different level than here in Europe (or where you live I'm assuming too). There's a reason why it's absolutely normal to stay with your parents until you get married or have a high salery in South Korea, you just can't afford to buy or even rent something.

As a big sister, the last concern especially upset me, particularly when she cried while saying that her sister tells her not to say hi when they see each other at school. I can't imagine saying that to my little sister if we went to the same school. I never understood how siblings could do that, especially when you're the older one.

Mother in the second concern sounds nice, smiley all the time and all but she looks very manipulative to me. I had that kind of mother. With all those loving words and 'i think about your well being's she is nagging all the time and try to force her standards on her son i can see the 'i know it all' expression in her eyes but i cant say that son is innocent either. He acts like a child who need to be supervised all the time.

First concern : I actually want him to continue his dream but at the same time being a married man he should continue to help his wife. I felt bad for him cause every body was making fun of his dream and the lady to tell him that he won't make it was very rude. She ain't Jesus to know about his future. One day who knows if he try harder he might achieve his dream. So instead of saying some one you won't make it try to encourage that person that you will achieve if you try harder but give first priority as husband and father
His dream is nice, and it's not an impossibility. However, he won't make it the way he is right now. He has to face the truth and then do something about it. Either he changes the truth by getting better, or he gives up on his dream, or slightly changes it. He probably earns more doing his normal job than a lot of singers do, so he has to think about that as well. Being a singer might look glamorous and all, but it's not really a high paying job unless you're popular.

Sure she was wrong saying he should stop dreaming but he himself is wrong too. Trying hard to achieve your dreams and simply hoping for it to happen one day are completely different things. With the money he's wasting on Karaoke and drinking, he could easily start by taking singing lessons. Also, he doesn't seem to care that for his selfishness he is sacrificing his daughter's health and growth. He really needs to start being a better father and husband. Saying his dream is impossible is bad. There is never a 0% chance. He just needs to put in the effort. Take Beethoven for example, he was deaf but he became one of the biggest composers today. He needs to be more willing and hardworking instead of simply waiting for a miracle to happen.

I think, that impression of Shownu not caring is a misconception. He doesn't express himself a lot, because he's a very introverted and shy person outside of his stage persona, but he certainly cares a lot and not just about his loved ones or fans. For example, during the first concern, he actively suggested the man to get a job at a live café to practice singing in front of an audience and as many others already pointed out, he didn't laugh when the man sang. He knew how much this dreams means to him.

as someone who was raised by krn parents and grandparents, i can hella relate to the son in the 2nd story. my grandma and i used to fight like crazy bc she used to nag abt literally everything and all of our disagreements would devolve into fights. and as i got older i tried to make sure that i was the one that tried to remain calm and level, but she would start yelling abt how she should die bc apparently i don't care abt her or how i'm a useless granddaughter bc i didn't agree with her abt smth and shit would hit the fan again XD if that's the kind of mom he lives with, then i feel like only moving out would solve their issues lol

The First Concern: I know everyone thinks they are being rude but the lady is so right, was it direct? Yes. Was it rude? Maybe. Was it the truth? Most likely. He's decent but he will almost certainly not become a big time singer, I do think they went wrong by making it seem like he shouldn't sing, I hope he can find ways to sing and earn money or at least sing and be comfortable that it is just a hobby but at this point his marriage is failing so he needs to think carefully.
Yes, I agree that he should prioritise his family, but I mean, if he keeps practicing, like Shownu said, he could be a live performer at a cafe, which will help more financially
