I'm not a guitar player. But I've seen him in SF five years in a row and have tickets for February. To my untrained eye....he is beyond great. A showman, and he respects his audience which I can not say for all the groups I've seen over the years. And they include some big time players.
I thought that after listening to Lewis and Clark there couldn't be equally great song even though all Tommy's songs are great. But now I realized that there are just Tommy's songs all extremely great and it's our bussiness to decide which one are we gonna love more than others. The truth is that you can't find BAD songs in Tommy's stuff, even not WORSE than his other songs.
+Anonymous Anonymous Lol ofcourse he can, and he's not an idiot for it, that's truely beautiful. Anonymous people like you should be reminded everyday of what they've put on the internet. Either way you get back what you put into other people, your life must be misserable, hope for you it gets better ;) And OVATION157 take care!
Davvero bravissimo ed emozionante. Quando lo vedo suonare sono combattuto tra l'estasi e la voglia di rompergli una chitarra in testa dall'invidia ; ) serebbe un sogno riuscire a suonare come lui
Christ almighty, doing those runs up and down the fretboard with a flat pick at 2:50. Even classical greats like John Williams do those with multiple fingers. What a gift he has, the man is truly inspired.
Tommy is coming to Bangkok Thailand for a show and I plan on being there. I have never heard of him before the announcement in the Bangkok Post but, have tuned into the many YT clips and must admit, it has been my loss.
Give him a guitar and a microphone. He'll make masterpiece music out of it. Doesn't need any other side dish. This is what it is called "RAW TALENT".. Living Legend!! Those 26 dislikers are just a Toad. ignore them guys.
Yeehaa! Ogni volta che riascolto Tommy Emmanuel mi sembra sempre la prima volta ... ed è sempre più bello. Grazie Tommy ... Un Abbraccio dall'Italia. ;-) Yeehaa! Every time I listen to Tommy Emmanuel seems to me the first time ever ... and it's always nicer. Thanks Tommy ... A hug from Italy. ;-)
I have successfully learnt a couple of songs out of that DVD you need to be a little patient, listen and watch closely at what his hands are doing, play the dvd at half or even a quarter speed and work out every single note of the song. it can take a lot of time, but if you love the music enough you'll get it done :) good luck!
I've seen him live twice and Im going next week to a small show he does over here in Monroe LA at a small auditorium, actually general seating so I'll make sure like last time to get on the front row. All the video's are great but there's something extra about seeing him live,....like he say's "I do what I do because when I play, something GOOD happens to you.".....and it does! He will keep someone focused who is ADD..lol
Tommy, you have made wonderful amazing songs for years, but this one his the Speedway to Paradise! God Bless and Thanks a million. Tom from IDAHO PS: You began with "this won't hurt a bit", after hours with a tutorial, my fingers beg to differ....hhhhh but I love you anyway!
took me awhile to get this song down right. I will never play it as good as Tommy thou. He puts so much emotion into his playing that it's impossible to mimic. If you learn this song make sure you warm up before playing it cause it's a work out!!!!
muy muy muy muy buena guitarra un 27 de agosto te escuche por primera ves 2013 un expetaculo escuche toda la noche tu guitarra tiene mucho para decir ,dar y recibir.
This won't hurt a bit?? BS.. of course it hurts.. Tommy, you are the master. I will say this: I headed Tommy's advice: Learn the songs by ear: It was the hardest thing I've attempted to do; learning this by ear. Now, I learn naturally by ear, but Tommy's were much harder. I will say, the end result was much better than any old tab. I feel I have a much better understanding of the piece as well as more feeling when I play. Tommy was right..
It's too bad that there always seem to be a few thoughtless and inane comments along with the praises and technical queries. Concerning those about Tommy's phrase "an emotional ride," please show some respect for an honest man as well as a musical genius. If you see his interviews, you learn that he expresses his deepest emotions via his music. The Endless Road piece tells a story without words of a difficult and painful experience in his personal life and that he overcomes the pain and moves on, continuing along the road of his life. It is something we can all relate to, but it is indeed personal for Tommy.
he has 2 leads because he sometimes does percussive taps/scrapes, so he needs to be able to adjust the mix of the percussion and the strings. probably a mic inside for the taps, and an undersaddle pickup for his guitar. hes great!
Woah what guitaring! Awesome!!! By the way guys there's this Indian band who also have a song named Endless Road. Check it out. It should be first in the list. Cheers!!! And again genius of a guitarist this one...
there are many great guitarists there are fewer great acoustic guitarists james taylor leo kopke crosby stills nash or neil young joni mitchel joan baez but tommy emanuel is revered as the epitomey of all and if you've ever wondered who guitar gods go to see in concert well alex lifeson of "rush" watches tommy emanuel as do a few others proving hes a guitarists guitarist.

I love seeing videos from like 10-20 years ago and he's still playing the same mouse.
It´s quite an emotional ride to all of us Tommy... Beautiful
More jawdropping, shake my head and cry moments per song than any other guitar player in the world.:)
I've lost my father yesterday
I dedicate this song to my father

Anonymous Anonymous you’re the DUMBEST FUCKER ever live👀🐷🐽
@ How about you go dedicate some time to learning English?
He masters all genres of guitar music--I have seen or heard none better in my 60 years in music.

It's like he mixes traditional fingerstyle, with a normal pick then throws in some Chiken Pickin' for the hell of it.... Awesome...
Just hearing you play is an emotional ride for me! I love this song. I think it is one of your best.
A masterpiece.. Tommy opens a vein here. i don't know what it is but it felt like a life lesson. Too good.
A true artist creating in exactly the medium he was born to create in. Absoluetly incredible, beautiful and humbling.

I think he said, "This one hurt a bit". No? Hence him talking about an emotional ride at the end
@@BobbyCarr821 Exactly my takeaway as well.

This song is a like a journey waaaahhh
My all time favorites!
The whole song is amazing..but I REALLY enjoyed the change at 1:10 .. So beautiful!

Превсходно!!! Remarkable music!!!

First 30 seconds = 3h practice on Guitar. But the indroducing speech i´ve learned directly :)) Thx 4 sharing, picking expert Tommy Emmanuel

3:41 it looks like it takes his breath. So good!
Muito legal, linda melodia..
Tommy Emmanuel's Endless Road album is the best.

I really want him to hav a concert in seoul, south korea in june! Like literally!! Hope he sees my comment :)
Tommy gets some pretty amazing tones, and a wide verity of tones into on piece. Sounds like multiple players.
Just Perfect!!
A true "Master of his craft".
I beleave in every word he tells, in every note he plays
GENIUS!! Awesome!
This song with lyrics and a nylon guitar solo, *¬*
Thanks for uploading.
One of his best things, I think
that martin is fucking beautiful I envy the fact he owns that guitar
LoLvZekk Martin? I can only see a Maton
+LoLvZekk Actually it a Maton Guitar an Australian made guitar.

Present keeper of "The Pick of Destiny."
@6ixstringed Nice ! i have seen him in Venlo, it was the best show i have ever seen :D
Grandissimo Tommy!!!!!!!!!!!!
magnificent, superb wow!!!
Freaking Awesome ! ! ! WOW
my fav part 3.08 to 3.27.. tough to pick a part!
One (front) is for stage sound goes direct to alesis II reverb. Second is for straight un-effected sound to recording gear for later dubbing. I think
Picking like that takes sooo much time to practise... :o
Looks like he has a JLD Bridge System installed on that old slab of wood. Matons have incredible tone.
For some reason, Tommy always has some damn nice shirts.
he has 2 leads because he sometimes does percussive taps/scrapes, so he needs to be able to adjust the mix of the percussion and the strings. probably a mic inside for the taps, and an undersaddle pickup for his guitar.
hes great!
you inspire me Williams!!!

Chet Atkins described him as the best finger style guitarist ever. there is no higher praise.
@6ixstringed
I met him in Stuttgart on march 31 this year, he's such a great guy :)
And he signed my guitar! :D
