- The New Orleans Saints' new-look offense already looks much better than 2023's. Derek Carr, Chris Olave, A.T. Perry, Jake Haener and Kendre Miller all impress during Saints OTA day 1.
Haener and Spencer Rattler will battle it out for the young QB2 spot more than likely throughout camp. But Haener is starting with a nice in the battle. Perry, Olave and others wow with first media OTA practice performances.

Were all so busy saying Rattler is a Kubiak guy, Kubiak just left the 49ers where Haener was participating in off-season rookie prospect activities. Kubiak knows exactly who Haener is.

I'm not saying Kubiak came here for Haener lolol. I'm simply saying he probably isn't the throw away player he's being made out to be, and any young QB on any roster is going to be a thought for a OC. Not an afterthought.

@@LouisWinthorpe3 Exactly! The disrespect for both Derek Carr and Jake Haener is off the charts. The sooner these idiots realize and accept that Carr is our starter, Jake is his immediate backup and Rattler is competing with Peterman for the 3rd (practice squad) spot the better off they will be!
The big thing that needs to prove itself imo is still OL.
In 2023, by PFF via Mile High Report, a staggering 83% of the 35 sacks last year was allowed/can be blamed directly on the OL. We saw struggles carry over to the run game and before week 17 24 yards was the longest rush all year.
If they alone can step up and play respectably in the trenches it'll open up so much space for the talent all around the offense

I still believe the OL performance will determine just how well the QBs (whoever it might be, Carr, Haener or Rattler). Aaron Rodgers was supposed to the Jet’s Savior last Season and that lasted just 4 plays. So any player is one play away from success or not. So OL performance is crucial especially early in the Season.

@@LockedOnSaints The hype on the rookie was off the charts for rookie mini-camp. I have watched Jake for awhile and know he is the real deal. It is sad that so many Saints fans just wrote Jake Haener off which was a big mistake!

It’s kinda wild not having Pete Carmichael as the OC. I mean, it’s a good thing. We needed something new and fresh. His system had ran its course.
You're talking about using motion and play action, just those two aspects alone is going to get so much more production out of Carr. Carr's two biggest strengths is his presnap reads, and the deep ball. Motion just gives him so much more information about the defense, so he can make presnap adjustments as needed. And Play action sets up those nice deep passes he is so good at. I'm expecting a big season out of Shaheed.
We need to establish an Identity Offensively ! Consistency with Carr is a must ! Improved OL play is a must ! This Offense is predicated on establishing the Run ! Hopefully the New Offensive Staff gets this Talented Offense in gear !
It was hard for Carr to be consistent after getting killed for most of the season. That shytty OL led to multiple injuries for Carr.

Like I keep saying. It all means nothing if they can't put it out on the field. That's why I keep reminding people that it's just OTAs and that they still have to make it work on the field. I said the other day that I'm not here to deal in hype, but I'm gonna tell you the truth about the offense doing the things that SHOULD make them better in 2024. Saying that things are different in camp isn't the same as saying that things are gonna be different on the field. Remember that I also said I can't project the team to be any better than 9-8 until I actually see them.

How could it ever look worse than 2023? This is OTAs, relax, people are making way too big of a deal because they need clicks. They don’t know who all will be on Oline besides Fuaga, Ruiz and McCoy. Penning is at RT so we can see if we can slashes warily a 1st rd draft pick on a guy who couldn’t make it in jumbo package last year. Pump the breaks folks.

Look at the top qb ratings for the last five games last year. He played most of the beginning of the season behind a terrible offensive line and injured. When that began to get better, so did he.
We saw him throw 14 TDs and 2 INTs at the end of the season and go 4-1 once his health improved from being tormented by the terrible OL.
