I owned an identical model. VGB493R!! That was 30 years ago admittedly. Mine had the spotlights mounted in the grill. I absolutely loved that car. Super comfortable and lovely to drive. Pretty decent performance for its day as well. You’re car looks stunning
I had Granadas back in the early 80s! My 1st one was a 1972/L 3.0 manual with no power steering as I believe it was an option back in 72 ? Nice fast motor, but they now look so old-fashioned, and I can remember my mum saying it was but ugly! And now, all these years later, I think I agree! I would love to go out for a ride in one now for nostalgia?
I had the identical car back in the early 90”s, only black with black interior. The ghia came with wood door trim however the good people of ford failed to sand it and I got several splinters during my 3 years of happy ownership. Unfortunately mine was suffering from corrosion with a leaky sunroof and questionable steering when driven over 70mph but the ride was silky smooth and the auto box could certainly shift when driven enthusiastically. I ended up trading it in for a Rover 825i and regretted that decision ever since. I often check autotrader to see if any come up but they are few and far between these days and those that do pop up command serious money. Far cry from the days of picking them up ten a penny..! You have a lovely example sir and I’m incredibly envious 😊
Absolutely beautiful. The nicest example I've ever seen (including motor shows, classic car festivals etc). I'd have been tempted to cover the number plates for the review though.
identical to one my dad had from 6mth old, PNC77R, Miami blue iirc? He and mum had it for nearly 19 years before swapping for a Lexus LS when he retired.
Fabulous car, I had a 1977 3.0 Ghia in dark blue when I was 20 in 1980, awesome car , I so wish I had one now. It had so many admiring comments at the time, loved it, between my Father, Brother and Myself over a period of time we had about a dozen MK1 and 2 between us.
Hi, Thanks. No I have not sold it yet, I have had a few people interested in the car, but there are some things which require attention that I have not had time to fix. I have just put her through an MOT and Taxed for 6 months. Thanks again, Ian.
Looks mint i love it , every since i saw one like yours in person at a car show i've wanted a Granada , i already have a Capri but i would love a Mk1 Granny just like yours :)
My dad is a mechanic of the old kind and had a 3.0 Ghia done it up and respayed Black with metal flake, cool as. Doesnt go in the snow in Aviemore, so had to sell it . I was gutted. Blue fabric interior like mint tae ;((
Yes I would be looking to sell the car, but it needs some minor things to make the car perfect. Chrome rocker covers could do with a re-chrome, nearside chrome wheelarch trim is scuffed, front foglamps dont work, gearbox rear oil seal requires replacement, radiator needs re-cored. I will regret selling her because it took me a long time to find one as good as this one, but unfortunately Im self employed and dont get a lot of time to spend maintaining it. Garage costs also. Let me know, Ian.
Hi there, do you still have the Granada? If so, please get in touch as I`d like to view the car and discuss your price. Many thanks, best regards, Ollie.
Today I had a car like this driving in front of me. Same model, same colour. Best wishes from Essen, Germany

Love the sound of the 3 litre engine, real power.
Beautiful example and a reminder of the days when Ford knew how to build proper cars!

Still on the road and running strong apparently. Good job keeping this beautiful example going.
What a BEAUTY. Had a MK 2 then a MK2 facelift estate. Tremendous cars.
What a lovely car, only minor niggle for me would be the stuck at 30mph Speedo. Awesome motor!

Amazing lovely car, especially as it can do 30MPH when standing still!

Lovely cars. I drove one as a taxi in the early 70s. Not the most economical vehicle, but lovely on the Heathrow runs from Southampton!
