  • Amid a recession, many Americans in the middle class are struggling to make ends meet. We are seeing staggering unemployment numbers, and yet the federal government has failed to provide much relief beyond one $1200 check. To stay resilient, we must get creative, turning to new sources of income and pivoting to innovative business strategies. The Atlantic’s roundtable, which convened academic leaders, policymakers and economic experts, attempted to answer the following question: What can be done to ensure that all Americans have access to the skills and technology needed to compete for jobs as we recover from a pandemic?
