This song really hits at home for me - the past couple of years have been very difficult. After 6 years of military service, I decided to separate instead of reenlist, because I got offered an amazing civilian job that paid very well. Been married for 7 years, and have the most amazing son. I thought things were lining up for me, and I was ready to settle down with my family. Keep in mind I LOVED what I did in the Air Force and had an amazing career. It was hard to leave. I bought a new house for my family and started my new civilian job. A few months later I got let go.... that was the beginning. I was devastated and very stressed, but eventually I found a new job, and we were going to be ok. Then I found out my wife was seeing other people.... we are currently in the process of divorce. So now I am still picking up the pieces of my life, and learning to balance my time with work and getting to have my son. My social life is still a mess, but is also getting better. I'm just trying to overcome the many regrets that has built up since. It is getting easier. That being said, when I heard this song on the radio, it brought a tear to my eye, because it really hit home. I'm in the process of building a better boat, and am very positive and excited about the next chapter.

I lost my 93 year old dad on October 23rd, and I have days when I don't think I can even breathe. I spent every day with him for the past couple years, and he's been ready to go, so who knew the pain could be so completely consuming? Beautiful song, but I can barely listen to it. Rest easy, Dad, I'll figure out what to do with myself one of these days, I promise.
I honestly don't see how this stalled on the Country Airplay charts at #28. Sure, it's not one of Kenny's party/beach anthems, but a very relaxing song about lessons learned through the storms of life. It should've been bigger than its chart position, IMO.

I lost my wife june 24 2018 in a motorcycle accident and this song is more than a song to me. She was one of the biggest Kenny fan and we listened through many hard days after losing 3 children and all of life's ups and downs. Cherish what you have and take nothing for granted. Everything can change in a sec. Smell the flowers, ask the question, take the trip or whatever it is you dream to do because in one instant it can be gone. This song touches my soul. You see, my husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer in July of this year. As often is the case, a song from Kenny Chesney really moves us. This song, Build A Better Boat, is Tom's "anthem". He gets emotional when he hears it because it reflects this journey we are on. Diagnosed in July, tumors removed, Tom has chosen an integrated but mostly holistic/natural treatment protocol. So, it often feels like we are on our own and alone doing this. Cancer causes you to fear, anger, and with this treatment, it is really building his bodies immune system to fight this disease. The cost of surgery, doctors, tests and strong nutrients, specific food-all organic, oxygen hyperbaric chamber treatments, Far-Infrared Sauna treatments, and Cryo-Nitrogen treatments are very expensive. The week Tom was diagnosed, I lost my monthly client so it's been tough. So far, tests show we have pushed cancer back but it's still at the cellular level so we continue this treatment protocol for at least another year. It takes so much money to do that. This song reflects how Tom feels and we both have faith in what he is doing. I do a lot of the research, making appointments, paperwork, finding the food, storing & preparing it and keeping nutrients stocked. I worry because we can't pay for this for a year. It's about $2500 a month on average if we don't run into obstacles and need other things. My friend started a gofundme page and friends, family, and associates were kind enough to donate but we really need help. Because a holistic treatment seems so controversial, I've created a blog page www.buildabetterboat.life to blog and vlog about the journey. We understand that many believe in complete western treatments but we know others support us and believe in natural as well. So far, we've tried to blend it but Doctors are not willing to work with us. I cry when I hear this song because it reminds me of Tom's journey just like Summertime reminds me of my last summer with my mom, who we lost to cancer. I pray that people will find my blog and know we sincerely need help. If I could find 250 people that would give $100 on the gofundme page, I could breathe that we can get through this year. Life is too short to not slow down and notice the little things around you that always seem to get forgotten. Thanking my true friends for always being there. Cleaning her house has been such a roller coaster ride of emotions. Yesterday, my heart was breaking with tears coming down so hard that I swore I would drown in them. Dear Kenny, This is my right now song! This hits home for me on so many levels! In the last two years there have been so many changes and it has been wave upon wave upon wave. I lost two people that I really love. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer, my father-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer, my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer, my father-in-law just recently passed away. Both my mom and my mother-in-law have health issues and both have had surgery. I was going through school through all of this and on top of it I have been going through a personal situation myself. And someone I love who is very close to me has lost their way. When I heard the song for the first time just moments ago I teared up because I can completely relate. I seen your show a few years ago in Indianapolis at the Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time and it was absolutely amazing! I said for years that someday I would see you perform and I got to! I would love to see another show but I have not been able 2 but I've always said that someday I would love to meet you and pick your brain LOL! Yes you are a fantastic performer, songwriter, singer but that is not all there is to you! I have had people tell me that they've met you or they know someone that knows you and they say that you are an amazing person! Someday I hope to meet you in person because I know there's so much more to you than what we see on stage and I think it would be awesome to hang out with you one day! Diagnosed in July, tumors removed, Tom has chosen an integrated but mostly holistic/natural treatment protocol. So, it often feels like we are on our own and alone doing this. Cancer causes you to fear, anger, and with this treatment, it is really building his bodies immune system to fight this disease. The cost of surgery, doctors, tests and strong nutrients, specific food-all organic, oxygen hyperbaric chamber treatments, Far-Infrared Sauna treatments, and Cryo-Nitrogen treatments are very expensive. The week Tom was diagnosed, I lost my monthly client so it's been tough. So far, tests show we have pushed cancer back but it's still at the cellular level so we continue this treatment protocol for at least another year. It takes so much money to do that. This song reflects how Tom feels and we both have faith in what he is doing. I do a lot of the research, making appointments, paperwork, finding the food, storing & preparing it and keeping nutrients stocked. I worry because we can't pay for this for a year. It's about $2500 a month on average if we don't run into obstacles and need other things. My friend started a gofundme page and friends, family, and associates were kind enough to donate but we really need help. Because a holistic treatment seems so controversial, I've created a blog page www.buildabetterboat.life to blog and vlog about the journey. We understand that many believe in complete western treatments but we know others support us and believe in natural as well. So far, we've tried to blend it but Doctors are not willing to work with us. I cry when I hear this song because it reminds me of Tom's journey just like Summertime reminds me of my last summer with my mom, who we lost to cancer. I pray that people will find my blog and know we sincerely need help. If I could find 250 people that would give $100 on the gofundme page, I could breathe that we can get through this year. All of Kenny's music is amazing, this song is very special to us and we love the No Shoes Nation Community. Sorry to say we won't be able to see Kenny in concert even though it's the first time in several years he has played in Jacksonville, FL (close to us) but we can't spend any money on anything extra. Life is too short to not slow down and notice the little things around you that always seem to get forgotten. Thanking my true friends for always being there. This hits me again the night before what is gonna be one of the hardest days of my life. My momma was peacefully called home, and tomorrow, my sister and I say goodbye as we witness her cremation. Cleaning her house has been such a roller coaster ride of emotions. Yesterday, my heart was breaking with tears coming down so hard that I swore I would drown in them.
The only thing that gives me comfort is knowing that daddy can now rest with her in his arms again. For he loved her with a love that is only witnessed in fairytales.

This is my right now song! This hits home for me on so many levels! In the last two years there have been so many changes and it has been wave upon wave upon wave. I lost two people that I really love. My dad was diagnosed with lung cancer, my father-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer, my aunt was diagnosed with breast cancer, my father-in-law just recently passed away. Both my mom and my mother-in-law have health issues and both have had surgery. I was going through school through all of this and on top of it I have been going through a personal situation myself. And someone I love who is very close to me has lost their way. When I heard the song for the first time just moments ago I teared up because I can completely relate. I seen your show a few years ago in Indianapolis at the Lucas Oil Stadium for the first time and it was absolutely amazing! I said for years that someday I would see you perform and I got to! I would love to see another show but I have not been able 2 but I've always said that someday I would love to meet you and pick your brain LOL! Yes you are a fantastic performer, songwriter, singer but that is not all there is to you! I have had people tell me that they've met you or they know someone that knows you and they say that you are an amazing person! Someday I hope to meet you in person because I know there's so much more to you than what we see on stage and I think it would be awesome to hang out with you one day! Keep up the great work stay true to yourself and stay humble! I don't believe we are self-made, I believe that we always have a helping hand getting to where we are going I believe that God designed it that way to keep us humble on that note stay humble!
