    Hello everyone,
This was a very interesting video.. I currently work as part of the leadership team for a partnership company with contracts associated with Services Australia, Home Affairs and Australia passport office.
Interesting part of the integrity of the roles is to understand the type of work your doing and to understand your mindset is about helping people in ALL circumstances and understand that circumstances can change at any stage and being able to understand and respond quickly and appropriately to situations.

Great video! I would love to come on and share my experiences if possible. I was 23 when I started with my department as an APS4 and have now worked my way up to EL1 at 25. I love this advice though and I have had extensive experiences with being on the panel and interviewing. Thanks.

Great tips Carolyn! And absolutely - so many people leave off the result!

The govt. guy who did the jobkeeper package put the bulk of it out to a few big companies - not millions of Australians, so I guess he failed at his job or succeeded depending on what he was actually told to do. Great discussion - I enjoyed it and the part about incumbants was interesting and it has always made me do half-hearted efforts as well. I usually get an interview and go no further. I also don't even bother with a cover letter but I still get interviews. I just assume when it's health gov they are wasting my time. I'm going to try a bit harder now.

This is the issue as they still use past selection criteria, seriously which requires lots of work and thinking.

Yes, this happens a lot. The criteria does not relate to the job.

Interesting thing i noticed was Goverment job advertise just because it is legitimate but they have already selected someone. It is disappointing.
If somebody wants a example I can give. But nobody wants talk about this truth.

This is actually quite common, often before you put in an application it's best to ask if anyone is acting in the role. Sometimes that means that person has an advantage!

Writing selections questions looks relevant when you read questions and when you start writing its just get complicated. Should the writing should be easy and simple English?

Hi Shubhi, thanks for the question. Keep it in plain English, but reflect back the specific words highlighted in the selection criteria. Carolyn has a book you should check out.

Is it fair to say that selection criteria reflects what the interviewer may ask during an interview?

It often does, but the questions may be phrased differently, and around what you are supposed to deliver in a role. Preparing examples for selection criteria can help you prepare for interviews.

I'm not sure whats worse selection criteria or the one sided online interviews that have now replaced this.
