Shannon, I was a missionary in West Africa (Ghana) for 7 years. In fact, I adopted a child with special needs, while I was there. I found him. He had been abandonded. Someone had put him in a plastic bag and left him in the bush. He was about 2 weeks old. In March he will be 20 years old. He is the joy of my life.
God blessed you with that fragile baby.i can’t imagine any reason why parents abandon their children. ❤

You are Al so sweet! I met my husband in front of the gym at school. 6 months later we moved in together, 2. Oaths later got married, 2 years later first child, almost 2 years later 2nd child. Been married almost 31 years now.

Barred Rocks are one of the best chickens to own. Incredible egg layers, super sweet and wonderful personalities. My oldest hen lived until she was 13 years old. Highly recommend this breed. Take your time deciding some breeds can be very skittish and don't care to be around people. You also can never go wrong with the Buff Orpingtons, large fluffy chickens, very docile, incredible egg layers, and love people. chickens can live a very long life if taken care of. They all must be dewormed on a regular schedule and must be checked for lice as this can come from the wild birds. Love how you care about all your animals. Yes, they are a lot of work! Kkyle, you should write down Spruce's and Nala's stories so that one day you could put their daily stories into a book. You know... A day in the life of or things like Spruce finds a bunny or Nala hears the mice. Good job guys.
Children's books would be great. I'm an author myself and I think Spruce and Herc go for a Hike or Spruce and Larry have an Adventure in Goatville sound like great ideas!
My brother suggested I do that with my silly dog. I haven't but wish I had. He is a full fledged stinker and would run Spruce for his money. I send him emails of Beau chewing the pearls off my new sweater, opening the pantry door and helping himself to food or treats, throwing tantrums because the vet put him on a diet and he's always hungry, etc.

I definitely think kids would love the animal voices with videos. My 8 year old grandson laughs when you do it. He can’t read and has learning disabilities. He absolutely loves animals and enjoys seeing the animals and the voices. I think it help him with reading. ❤

With the well house, I would build a dirt floor shed for the ride on mowers and bikes, maybe tractor with an insulated corner for the well and pump.

Kyle/Shanon, build a well house that’s just enough to protect the well, then build your house, and build a barn for your storage, stalls for goats, alpacas, even chickens to get them a safe place to in bad winter weather. Then you can decide if you need a shop to protect your farm equipment-tractor, attachments, tools etc. or you build an addition for all that, attached to the barn.

Have you thought about having a “ barn or house” raising similar to the olden days or how the Amish get things built?

Shannon, it was nice to hear you talk about your sister. I am the Missions Director at our church here in Ohio. I'm 70 years old and have been working with missionaries for about 30 years. Just this past December we took on a young couple with 5 children! Odest is 8 and the youngest is about 9 months!!
God never lets us suffer without a plan. You were chosen for alpha gal to help many. I love the both of you, you two are my favorite from your precious family. At 70 years old I can tell you we were in our 60s when we actually built a new home. We saved the money up and paid cash for everything. It was well worth not ever having another house payment. We built well but finished sparingly and we have gone back and upgraded flooring and countertops with higher end as we had the money. If you own your land you don’t have to be in a hurry.

Oh my, he has his Daddy's Brucifer attitude. Harry and Larry will be so wonderfully cared for by Ralph, and that is a blessing. But it is up to all of you. Keep on with your plans and do as YOU want to do in GOD'S time things will always come together. You could always start writing short stories and just "play" with it all on your time. Look @ plans for a house and chicken coops and find what you like and what would make you both happy. You can do it on your time-one day at a time when GOD helps you decide and sets things in motion.

This was an amazing Q&A! I think you are building a homestead life to be proud of! May I say it would be neat to see you add a bathroom, and bedroom behind where you were sitting and a small kitchen. And hopefully have the next couple of years worry free of excessive weather. Getting the propane going for cooking and heating, then It could later be a guest house for your family and friends.

I hope you can build a home sooner than later, just because I'd like to see you get out of the camper. Shannon talking about the dream home reminded me of a home that I fell in love with when I was a young teen. It was a lodge style house. It was basically a big open floor plan. It had a kitchen and bathroom and storage room at one side of the house and a big fireplace at the other end. But the rest of it was just a big open space, no walls to break it into rooms. They did that with area rugs and furniture. As a teen, I just thought it was cool.

Shannon, I have so much in common with you in regard to your sister. My sister and her husband were missionaries in Uzbekistan and raised their 2 children there. They eventually had their visas revoked when the Uzbek leaders started revoking all American visas so they finished out their project in Kyrgyzstan. My brother-in-law was the project leader to translate the Bible into the Uzbek language. They are stateside now still working for Wycliffe, the oldest Bible translation group, but were able to see the translation into completion and received a copy of a beautiful Uzbek Bible. Both of their children are now married and involved in mission work. 🙏✝️

I know it’s going to be where we can still see them because I do watch your father show too, but I’m always so tenderhearted knowing that animals also have so many feelings and emotions that this is where they grew up and now they’re having to go away from their home, and that always breaks my heart. How do you feel about that I have worked with animals my entire life and I have seen when I rescue animals foster care before I gave them away. I actually see them cry I’ve actually had to take some back because they refuse to eat And I think it is good that they’re gonna be together but it’s just like they’re part of you guys your family and man it’s just like he said it’s a petting zoo so they’re just so much fun to have and specially Larry looks just so much like the mom. I don’t know I know it’s a tough decision but I am voting that you do not give them away, please keep them

i just retired from work after 50yrs of being in the work forse now i can concentrate on my chickens and rabbits and I am glad to hear you will have coop and run ready before you get chickens i am still working on my coops after raiseing the chickens up first. praying for 2 does for you hugs and loves Erica
I so appreciate how y’all are taking your time for building your permanent home. That being said, the travel trailer is not the quality you need to keep sustaining living in it full time. If it will be be a longer period of time before building, y’all may want to consider getting a used 4 season RV that can provide a lot more comfort (better insulation) and has heated underbelly as well as tanks.
