You do you. People will always have their own ways of doing things but that doesn’t mean it’s the only way to do it. Congratulations on the baby guineas ❤❤❤❤❤.
What about a metal structure over the camper? In the space between, you could insulate it. Should help stop heat from entering in the summer, keep rain and snow directly off the roof to lessen chance of a leak, still allow opening the vents on the ceiling, and hold in a lot more heat in the winter. A structure like that wouldn't need to be 'permanent', but could be a longterm storage area if/when you build a permanent house. Just a thought.
Shannon get a plastic bag. Turn it inside out around your hand and pickup up the nest and then close it up and throw away so you can still use your diesel.
Well...would you look at that.... Shannon holding the baby bird!! WAY TO GO! SOO PROUD OF YOU!! Prayers for the week ahead to be filled with many blessings for the Doss family 🙏💞🙏
Congrats of the new babies ! I’m with you Kyle ….. need more eggs. My Great Granny had what seemed like hundreds of Ginnie’s and they lived in the woods where we all played , never had a tick issue… dense woods of N.C. Good luck and take care in that heat.
As far as your travel trailer goes, go ahead & build a pole barn over it now. 6x6 poles and a roof system. It will help you guys out so much. God bless.
Spray the nest and then squash the nest!!! I was attacked by wasps, 4 LARGE nests, and had 13 wasps sting me on my head and shoulders…..I get you Kyle!! I felt like I had the flu for 2 wks! The doctor told me I could have anaphylactic reaction! Wasps are not my friend (or yours!)
I spray the nest. Then I spray the nest again and knock it down. Then, I burn that flipping nest. Then, on to the next one, rinse and repeat! The disdain I have for wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, and carpenter bees is extreme. That will never change, ever. Honeybees are just fine with me. We need them for many reasons. Keep on keeping on, Brothers and Sisters! Godspeed.
@@bettyflinchbaugh3731 - I know! I am just very careful and keep the wasp spray foam all the time! The thing was that I had gone to Home Depot and got the wasp spray and was checking the lights on the porch, as we were getting my parents house ready to sell. I got distracted by paper flyers in the bush and the wasps took exception to me stepping out on the porch! 🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Since Chad has already installed his canopy, and Kyle and Grandpa still need theirs put on, it would be great to see all the Doss men come together for an install day! Love Shady Acres and everything you have done so far.
Thank you guys for sharing your lives with us, and especially your faith! We enjoy Shannon's sister and her family! You can see GOD'S anointing upon them! GOD Bless you!
Someone might have suggested this but if not… it might be a good idea every time you go to check on the chicks to put a little snack (can be just feed) in your hand and lay your hand down where they can come up and eat directly from your hand - when you do it make a certain sound - the same sound each time - this is how you get them to come to you when you call them when they’re grown ❤
So proud of you, Shanon! Y'all are getting tougher by the minute!! lol lol Wow, that was a freaky accident with Herc! I know that hurt!! ❤ Blessings for a safe & happy Independance Day!! 💥💫🇺🇲💫💥
Ive also raised lots of guineas and other poultry over the years. Never dipped a beak. I keep watching all these other homesteaders who do it and wonder why.
My dad used to keep a five gallon bucket of water (with lid) and tossed the nests in it after he sprayed the adults. Eventually He’d dump it far away so animals Didn’t get to it. Even juvenile wasps can have stingers. etc. My dad showed me a stinger he pulled out of his thick boot heel. I’m not a wasp fan either! He was concerned spraying near the animals, so he’d spray the adults then had a grabber for the nests.
Great video as usual! How cute to see Shanon cuddling that keet! You guys are fantastic and are doing a great, fantastic, wonderful, beautiful job with y'alls animals/birds on y'alls land/farm!! Enjoy and you both are good stewards of what the Lord has given! 😉😉👍👍🥰🥰 Have a blessed 4th of July! And God bless America 🇺🇸 🙏
Hi Kyle and Shannon, Yes I would listen to Shannon and get some help putting that canopy on the tractor. You are better to be smart than in a wheel chair!! Love you guys God bless you and until next time take care now.
Howdy Kyle and Shanon, your doing right always wait until after dark to stray wasp nest. Because they are all the nest at that time. God bless you both and your whole family...🙏🙏🙏
Shanon, you've come such a long way with the feathered friends! Every reason to be proud of yourself. I'm proud of you as well! Proud of Kyle too! You seem to get better with having wasps in close proximity. Oh, the pink camo cover! That unpacking video was hilarious!
Sweet Hercules. Hundreds of years from now someone will dig up all of his bones and freak out. They'll call all of their friends over and tigether work for days putting all of those bones together into some weird prehistoric oddly shaped animal! I hope they call it the Hercules!
On other sights, I've seen bee removal people take the larva back to their chickens. It was a massive surge to get to those unborn bees. I don't know if guinea eat them, and it would not be good to give them to any animal after you spray wasp killer, but you can always use the container of gasoline. I totally get the fear caused by flying weapons. And they chase you around like they own the air within 500 feet of your body. Love all you precious people and animals. God bless until eternity.
The wasp king guy vacuumed the nest with a shop vac filled with soapy water. They drown in the water. Soap breaks the surface tension so they can't sit on top of the water. They cant fly if their wings arecwet either. He gave the larva to his chickens but he didn't use wasp spray on the nest. If I recall, he only sprayed the remaining areas in the homes and areas he was called to remove wasp nests from.

I hear you and I it them first thing in morning when cooler and less active. Kyle amd Shannon. I am do proud of you both, when you do things your not used to, DO IT AFRAID, you will conquer your fear, I terrified, of horses, heights, and excaltors, I got over the fear of all that. You have done awesome with your building, the way you take care of the animals, They are your fur babies. Kyle, I was afraid of being techie. Keep on Going. Karen Herrold California
They say mama guinea hens do not raise their young. They basically give birth, 17:41 and thats it. Is their a way to actually ween the boys from mama? Her bag won't dry up with them attacking her teets
The baby gpuineas (called keets), learn by watching. So if some are drinking others hould learn. It usually safer in hot humid times to make sure each one gets a drink. Dipping their beaks is a good practice to be sure they get a drink to start out. You guys will keep an eye on them an notice any that get droopy frim heat and no drink. The babies are too small, but your bird hers would probably enjoy a cool refreshing treat during hot days. A Bag of frozen sweet corn sprinkle around for them is cooling adds moisture to their diet. Frozen peas work too. May God Bless! Happy Fourth of July! 🎆🎇
Wasp traps lure the insects inside a container with a tempting treat like sugar water, then prevent their escape. You can make a DIY fly or wasp trap in about five minutes by sawing the top off a two-liter bottle and inverting it inside the bottom. Hang your trap on tree branches where the wasps like to congregate.
The parents won't accept the keets, unless they have some hatching out about the same time and you can slip the ones you hatch out under them with the ones they have hatching. It's a matter of strategic timing if that were to happen.
I'm with you Kyle. Wasps, actually any bees except honey and bumble, are the scariest thing to me. We had many Ortho spray cans to take care of many nests. Also had them build in the ground in our pasture.😳🥺
Kyle, when I was looking (out of curiosity and pity for you) on RUclips for wasp solutions . . . 😮WITHOUT EXCEPTION, I found every suggestion, some by professional exterminators, to be . . . A mixture of Dawn Dish Detergent, in a sprayer. There are a multitude of videos demonstrating. I didn't recall every hearing you speak about that. I turned 75 in May! I was born in NC but have lived in Texas for most of my life. The best of both worlds. Happy Birthday ahead of time because I forget (I'm 75 ya know 😂😂)👍🙏🥰
Awe, the little baby bird birds are sooo cute 🥰! I’m glad they are a little easier to take care of in the brooder😊! Herc and his bone 🥰! The canopy for the tractor….Yep! Get help😁!! I know it’s summer but do we have to have 90F* days with a melting heat indexes 🥵! Thanks for sharing, stay safe 💦🫙! God Bless🙏🏻🤗💕!
Yup, Shannon was freaked out by so much when you first started and now look at her. Taking it all in stride now. Called it. Have fun withose wasps 😢. Dislike them mean bees.
WASP spray is different. I use the non-foaming version of the same thing you are using because when I buy the foam it sometimes takes 2 spraying to kill everything. The non-foaming version kills on contact. Sorry for the comment about dipping the beaks of the keets. I have never raised anything but chickens and I was told you had to do that.
Saw on DOSS OUTDOORS a treatment for ticks... would that help you around the RV and Goatville? I believe it's an outdoor application for spring and summer. It might help some until you can grow your bird army. Love the baby chicks! So happy you are being hands on with them so they can develop a bond with you both like your older feather have. Best wishes from northern Illinois.
Kyle you crack me up 🤣🤣. My fear is wasp, bumblebees, snakes and deep water. 😂 I never learned to swim.🤦♀️ You go Shanon, the little baby bird birds are so cute. You and Kyle are great country people. Living your dream, that’s very important these days. Love seeing the deer at the beginning of the video. Enjoy all the videos. ❤️❤️

Wear dryer sheets. It keeps bees and wasps away. When having a picnic put a couple on each table also.
Yup, Shannon was freaked out by so much when you first started and now look at her. Taking it all in stride now. Called it. Have fun withose wasps 😢. Dislike them mean bees.
I know how you feel about the heat I live in Palm Springs California and it gets up to 120 and higher
Love your videos and you both ❤❤
I think people are just trying to be helpful when recommending things . Only because y’all are newbies to the farm life.❤
WASP spray is different.
Have a Happy 4th.
