    Wow... Someone is finally listening! I've never seen such a well designed and specced fpv plane (bar the motors and props) with so many accessories for such a wide range of different kit.
    MG digital servos?.. incredible!
    Bravo AtomRC! 👏 👏 👏

    I feel like AtomRC does a pretty good job, but their motors seem to be undersized a lot of the time. Burnt up my Dolphin motor in just 3-4 flights. Moved to a 2806.5 and it's happy now. As for the Penguin, it's really a pretty neat plane.

      Very versatile for sure, it flew in the mountains 2 days ago, with a 21700 liion had very good endurance, total distance of 47kms in about 30 minutes in rather strong wings, and was all fine !

    Very nice video! Looking forward to also test this plane. My Dolphin's motor died - so I guess you're right with AtomRC using too large props on too small motors ;)
    greets and happy flying, Mario

    • @Olivier-C
      @Olivier-C  Год назад

      Yep on the long run it pays to have motors slightly too big for the task :) On the swordfish too I found the 7" to be too much for the 2000kV 2306, I downsized to 6" and it goes just as fast and amps are like -25%

    • @Rcschim

      @@Olivier-C hehe, I've burnt another motor out of stupidity now on my dolphin ;) put a 2206-2600 on it (an old multistark viking) and used the stock 7x4.2 2bladed prop.
      only gave me one autolaunch and a lucky glide back to the runway :)
      But one thing: with the oversized 7x4.2 my launches were always very easy compared to my friends. enough thrust on the low end...
      Now I have 2306-2400 drone motor with 5x4x3
      should be within the specs and not get extreme hot, but the first quick try this morning wasnt good. not used to the low thrust. maybe I just need to throw better or adjust autolaunch settings (lower angle, more idle gas...)

    • @Olivier-C
      @Olivier-C  Год назад

      @@Rcschim At first I had my dolphin with 5" tris, and launch were always random, for sure switching to 6" bi made a huge difference, a lot less torque roll aswell. And now with a 2806.5 and a 7", launches are 100% safe :)

      @@Olivier-C thanks for the tip! I flew the plane with stock motor and oversized 7" prop - Launches as you say - 100% reliable (others were quite envious about that).

    Nice review. A good tip configure motors to "spin inward" (9:24) vs. "spin outward" (the default), just in case.
    The Penguin seems to have much higher amp draw compared to the T1 Ranger, even after reduced by swapping motors. Seems to be ~1.5x higher. The Penguin does appear to have much more fuselage space for battery however.

    Great review, love all your vids! How much more speed do you think it gained by upgrading the motors as I have several of the same motors on hand, and were you able to use the existing ESC's?

    • @Olivier-C
      @Olivier-C  Год назад

      Factory ESC are marked 30A, should be fine, they handled the 2206 with no issue, and now they are soldered to 2306. Top speed is 105km/h with the 2004, and 145km/h with these aging 2206, and with 2306 I think it should go about 160. But I don't expect much higher, the deep wing makes a lot of drag I think. Still, speed envelope from 25 to 150 is plenty

    Hi Olivier, Would you recommend the Penguin as a first FPV Wing. I have some RC experience. For low altitude low speed stunts it make the plane a big heavier so that's not really better, but when going higher and cruising further, the added speed is a big plus. And I've already fitted new motors, T-motors Velox 2306 1750kV with 6", might fly these tonight

      Son look au debut il est surprenant, c'est le raccord entre la queue et le reste qui est bizarre je trouve mais on s'y fait. Mais bon un avion FPV on a pas trop l'occasion de le regarder soi-même en vol :)) mais c'est sur qu'en l'air il n'a pas l'elegance d'un Swordfish ou d'un Dolphin.. Pour les moteurs, n'importe quelle taille 'quad 5" ' devrait faire l'affaire, de 2204 à 2306, 5", 6" en bipales... p'tet eviter les tripales, les ailes sont basses, ça va ripper à chaque atterro. Je li ai mis des 2306 kv1750 avec des 6", en 4S la vitesse de pointe ne va pas etre folle mais il devrait avoir un bon grip pour faire l'andouille près du sol

    Hey Oliver, I've been looking for a dual tractor plane recently for proximity flying. Seems people like both the heewing T1 and the atomrc penguin. You seen to have experience with both, any advice on which to choose? Really appreciate it man!

    • @Olivier-C
      @Olivier-C  7 месяцев назад +1

      hi! Get the penguin, no doubt it's a better plane. a lot more wing area, maybe like +60%, so a lot more payload abilities. Easily double the space inside. The T1 is a bit fragile, the parts for the tail are very thin plastics, for proximity flights the Penguin is a waaaay better option. In my Penguin I put some 4S21700 liions and it flies a long time, or I can put some small 4S-1300mAh so it's very light for stunts close the ground or below trees. The same 4S-1300 in the T1 is already the biggest it can carry. Just put some bigger motors in the Penguin, other than factory, these are undersized big time and struggles to spins 6"

    • @JamesDowningFPV
      @JamesDowningFPV 7 месяцев назад

      @@Olivier-C Appreciate the thoughtful response! I had seen some people mention lately how great the HeeWing T1 was (I think even mentioning it was their favorite overall plane!), so your opinion really helps. The additional payload capacity will help with the LR stuff. I had also looked at the Swordfish or Flying Fish as alternatives, but in both cases the Penguin looked superior. Swordfish seemed like it was meant more for soaring, and the Flying Fish seemed like it was more of a lightweight beginner plane. Other dual tractors I've seen are just too big for my use case. Thanks again.
