- The first flight of my first 3D-printed plane. Exciting!
The excellent aircraft design (which is now in V2, though mine is V1) was done by @Olivier-C.

That auto launch save 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼. Always a heart wrenching moment. Love the excitement from the kids when it didn’t hit the ground.
Yes! I had printed about seven different planes at this point but had never launched or flown a single one. This was kind of the make-or-break moment! The excitement (and terror) was palpable! Thanks for watching!
That launch though, holy moly :D
Yeah, caught me off guard. Then it took me about 30 seconds to recover and actually remember how to fly a plane. :/
That launch was great. Nice edit, enjoyed to watch.
Thanks! I've sinced maidened another twin-pusher wing that nearly mowed the grass but at least didn't have any torque roll. :/
That was wild...😅
It's surprising how hard your heart can pound when tossing a little plastic toy plane into the sky for the first time... :)
"oh my!" "AAAAA!!" What a launch!
Great video ! Glad the plank made it - after that launch and survived ! Your kids are great too ! 😀
Thanks! This maiden one will go down in the annals of our RC history, for sure! My boys still talk about it even a year later!
How to get kids interested in FPV and electronics:
THIS EPIC LAUNCH!
Actually printing the V2 now and I'm a beginner at FPV fixed wing and rc fixed wing in general lol.
It did a happy roll when launched😂
Yes, it did! So did my stomach, unfortunately!
This is a sweet video! Got me as a subscriber, can't wait to see more!
By far my worst launches have been running launches. So I stopped doing it. That plane has plenty of snot to climb out with an easy toss. Once again, I bow down and sing praise for autolaunch. I never could have recovered that launch manually. She'd be confetti. Love that your kids are keeners. Funny to hear their chatter.
You're right. I've had a number of running launches be pretty sketchy. I think I will abandon that technique and focus on a hard, correct throw.
Now that was a launch. 😀
Great video, I'm finishing mine and as soon as the weather is OK, I'll maiden it.
Thanks! Good luck with yours! My heart was pounding but it flew amazing once airborne! Are you printing the 1.0 or the 2.0 version?
@@brubakerjm V1 is ready for launch. V2 printing.
Epic torque rolll :-D Great, cannot wait to maiden mine!
Sweet video and awesome aircraft! Love how the kids look to be inav experts 👌
Thanks for watching! Yes, they are practically experts now, mostly from witnessing all the mistakes I repeatedly make!
Great save from auto launch. She flies nice
Yep. Auto launch handled it better than I would have. Thanks for watching!
Great looking plane, launches of these things always seems like a lottery though...Star save by the AP though, spectacular in fact....🤔🙄😳🇬🇧
I’d say great launch 🚀 🤘
It was a memorable one, that's for sure!
Anyone else find these Tuber RC vids that use the 360 cameras, neat but also hilarious. "Let's take this extremely finely-tuned aero profile (meant to look it anyway) necessary for efficient flight.... and rubber-band a giant airbreak right on the planes face.... and then tuber gushes later... look how well it flies!"
soon it's my turn to launch my V2, Jacob :)
Ahh! Looking forward to seeing your result! It's still winter here so I've not yet been able to do a second flight. It flew amazing once airborne, just the launch was heart-pounding!
@@brubakerjm mine just got the elevators attached … ;)
Sooooo lucky!
Indeed! So much so I'm nervous to take it out again! The airplane designer suggested trying not autolaunch, but angle mode with some up-elevator programmed to a switch.
Watching in slo-mo, I think you might try gripping in front of the wing rather than beneath the wing, resting the fuse on my palm rather than holding with fingers only and throwing like a football bullet pass. Your angle looks a bit too steep akin to a long bomb rather than a bullet with maybe just a couple steps, again like a quarterback. I use this on all my hand launch planes ,planks, and wings with a nose section with success. I try slinging my throwing arm to my leg as soon as I release. Maybe throwing a javelin toward a target at 50 ft.
I think you're probably on track. My AtomRC Dolphin has had a few launches where as soon as it leaves my hand the nose pitches way up and it's almost sitting on the prop. Back in the day, launching the Mini Talon, I was always focused on that flat, "laser" throw, and apparently I've lost that muscle memory. I'll work on it!
Man I've seen the same thing. Normally it's when I'm trying to throw the snot out of it, and forget technique. I always have to remind myself to emphasize and throw with the thumb. The natural twist of your arm will try to impart yaw which turns into a roll due to asymmetric lift.
I'd say it has a bit of torque roll maybe?
Juuuuuust enough! Haha.
@@brubakerjm I'd say so...wooo!
@@brubakerjm Curious if it rolls left that hard every time or just on the maiden. Had a very similar experience recently, and now I'm afraid to fly it again...
i so happy 4 your father .... im gonna put on my "S"t-shirt n create that (whats inside?)
Great video, stupid question, are you using DJI remote controller? If so, how did you make it?
No, In this video I am using a Frsky Horus X10S controller. I've actually never used the DJI Controller!
Auto-launch Roll = Enabled
I have a couple of quesions - what is your total weight ? what did you have the auto lunch setup ? I have crashed mine 3 times and always banks to the left and goes straight to the ground- I have the same Motor , pops and batteries . I will appreciate if can share some informamtion to help me get out of my crash launches .
Sorry about the delay! Have you had any success yet? I believe my total flying weight was around 1KG. Between the flight in this video and now, I have relied less and less on autolaunch. I think some models are just not quite suited to it (or I am just really bad at getting the settings right). I have started launching more models in Angle or Horizon modes (horizon if I think I will need a lot of rapid corrections) and setting the throttle stick to an appropriate amount before I throw them. This negates the often-problematic torque roll effect of the quick "ramp up" of throttle.
Have you tried it without the wing extenders? I have mine ready to go then noticed the extenders in Oliver's recent update.
Great Video! I am working on my build using LW-PLA. What did you come up with on the total weight without electronic and with electronics?
I didn't get a plastic-only weight as I was eager to get things assembled. Dry weight (no battery and no Insta360 Go2) is 763g.
@@brubakerjmI would like to see more video on your plane. Thanks for the information. God bless.
Question on your CG? Where did you mark your CG on your build? I completed my Rifter and its super noise heavy. I used a CG calculator I'm getting 7.15 CM from the leading edge, and still to nose heavy.
При броске был разворот влево, потому что винт крутится вправо, это неправильно винт должен крутиться влево.
