Jeremy, so I'm 2 weeks late to this but wow, I think you nailed it. Orchard House is unreal. And you are spot on... this is a warm weather, summertime dram (I'm in Houston) Just a fantastic gem!
Love seeing Orchard House on there. It made one of my lists late last year. Same with the Amrut Spectrum…fantastic juice! And obviously….LOVE seeing our PWS Bimber cask on here! That made my day! Cheers Jeremy!
Brilliant video and a great recap! Orchard House made massive waves in Turkey this summer as well and nearly everyone I know enjoyed it more than anything else! Cheers and here's to another great year 🥃
Thx for another great year of whisky, Jeremy. And I completely agree with the Orchard House pick. It holds its own against single malts that are 2-3 times the price. Cheers!
A lot of valuable information and some excellent selections Jeremy. Thanks 🙏 for sharing your thoughts and best wishes to you and l’amico Roberto. Ciao Happy New Year 🙏👋 S.
Amazing respect for choosing this. I was worried you were going to end up with some unicorn I would never find. Thanks for keeping it real. Cheers to 2023!
I was sceptical about this one because I thought the Spice Box was meh and didn’t like The Spaniard. But it was surprisingly available at a liquor store here in Van so I grabbed a bottle today based on your recommendation. Ended up crushing four drams of it lol. So drinkable. Fresh yet complex. Easily the best blended scotch I’ve ever had
Great list and a perfect description of Orchard House. Really nice to see someone choose something a little off the beaten track in a blended malt rather than a good old single malt. Personally I am not a Compass Box fan and some of his bottlings almost put me off whisky for a few years. But Orchard House is an absolute belter and I have called it the Perfect Summer Dram. All the very best to you and your family for 2023.
Great to see people talk about benromach!!! Benromach has been doing this for years, one of my favorite bottles is the old Benromach 10 Imperial proof, definitely has that funkiness that reminds you of springbank. Cheers!!!
Wonderful video Jeremy! Love your perspective on whisky! I believe my palette is similar to yours in preferences. Learned so much from watching both you and Rob! Thank you and wishing you and your family a very Healthy and Happy New Year! Neal
Great list, always look forward to your picks. I'm interested in trying the Amrut, are there ways of identifying the first release that you say was ok, with the new one that you reference in the video? Release year possibly? Cheers
I agree on that Lot40 18yo. I was expecting a gem of a bottle, especially at it's price. I felt it was just an oaky version of the 12yo. Had it been $130-150 maybe not as disappointing. That Bimber is absolutely amazing. Drinks so well and hides it's age.
Great list. I've purchased multiple bottles of the Signatory Edradour 10 year Sherry Cask and its always good, if not great. As for world whisky, the best I had was probably the Kavalan Vinho Barrique sample I got from winning Drink My Bar! Thanks again for the chance to try that ✊
this is a great whisky and you and I are on the same page, and if you remember me, I am a huge Clynelish fan so this makes total sense to me. 😂🎉Happy new year ! Enjoy the holidays and can’t wait to see your videos in the coming year.
Great video as always. Would love to pick up a bottle of the Edradour and Compass Box one day when the LCBO has them. Will need to keep an eye open for them. Will also try the Under Crown. Drew Estate puts out some tasty sticks. Thanks again.
@@SippersSocialClub Have gone through boxes of the Isla del Sol from Drew Estate. Coffee infused. I think you will like them. Haven't had anyone say they didn't like them. Unfortunately, not available in Canada. I pick them up on trips to the US.
The Edradour 10 you show is NOT the Vintage edition - but the Unchillfiltered edition - not cask strength but 46 %. Just thought I would get that straight. However, it is phenomenal.
I'm new to scotch (about a year in). The Orchard House isn't doing it for me. Seems overly sweet. With that being said, I do not have a super refined palate. Here are some of the usual "on the nose" notes from me: smells like, whiskey, alcohol, scotch whiskey, glass, air inside a glass, weak or strong, etc. Love the channel man, keep up the good work.!
Great list. Glad to see an affordable whisky win Whisky of the Year. That's becoming more relevant with inflation and a likely recession. Being in the States, I am also glad to see a non-Cuban make Cigar of the Year. Cheers!
I think a lot of people have been priced out of buying Cuban cigars. It just doesn't make sense when you have great options at less than half the price. Cheers :)
I did a side by side of the Lot 40 18y vs 12y, and at least for me I enjoyed the 18y a decent amount more. I found the 12y very heavy on clove, and less interesting than the 18y. The 18y is very hyped up tho. I was lucky enough to get a bottle in a raffle, but I just immediately cracked the bottle, and traded people samples so they could try it out.
One of the best single barrels I’ve ever had was an edradour and also one of the worst. That exact same ten-year lineup. So I wouldn’t say that it’s necessarily great. Be careful. It really depends on the barrel. I am surprised they chose to make a single barrel out of such a terrible barrel but there you go.
the Compass Box Glasgow blend single marrying cask sherried stuff destroys Orchard House and it was cheaper here and 49%ABV in an ex Craigellachie sherry cask. $41. Got a Craigellachie 12 single cask 46% for $40 that also destroyed Orchard House and did not come off young like that Compass Box.
Great list, agree on the Lot 40 18 year. The 2 oz sample I had was just ok, the 11/12 year were better IMO. Since the taters on facebook are paying 1k for it, thats where it would end up for me. That Orchard House is really good. The Spectrum is really good as well
Even living in the USA, I was super disappointed with American whisky. Massive price increases and everything getting allocated. An absolute joke. Scotch is better anyway.
Ralfy interview highlight of the year for me. I could listen to him talk all day long. Whiskey gospel.
Totally agree, his knowledge is so vast, always learning something

That Signatory Edradour 10 was amazing. I’ve never gone through a bottle quicker.

Always try to make my whisky of the year something reasonably available, cheers :)

Great list brother. Agree with pretty much everything. Cheers bud.

You did a great job on the presentation.
The recommended brands.
Including cigar.
Cheers 🥃
Thanks, cheers
Suprised you went with Orchard House but props for having the balls to pick a blend! Truly a great pour!
I was really impressed with it, cheers :)
@@SippersSocialClub I bought a bottle myself because of your review and love it as well!

I have both so many Edradour is delicious! I highly recommend everyone to try it

Thanks, really appreciate it. Happy new year!
Great job of reviews this year on your channel -- lots of good value whiskies without compromising quality ended up on your list.
Thanks man, cheers, happy new year!
That Bimber PWS Cask is so good. Tropical bourbon goodness punching so above it's age.
It really was exceptional

The first release in 2015 was just called Spectrum. Came in a velvet-lined box. Just 1,000 bottles I believe
@@SippersSocialClub Much appreciated, thanks for the info.
Great review! Would love to hear what cocktails you'd recommend for the Orchard house
How does the Compass Box Orchard House compare to the Compass Box Oak Cross ?
I agree on that Lot40 18yo. I was expecting a gem of a bottle, especially at it's price. I felt it was just an oaky version of the 12yo. Had it been $130-150 maybe not as disappointing. That Bimber is absolutely amazing. Drinks so well and hides it's age.

So, the Orchard House beat out the Jack Daniels Bonded? 😂
Just slightly hahaha
