    Personally, I think it is simpler, faster and cheaper to apply graphite powder.

      But this is graphite powder, just the finest purity. Point of the technique is to make effects durable. Pure graphite powder is easily removed has no durability of it's own, like dust on a shelf. When graphite is mixed with binders you get permanent effect, not susceptible to handling, you create graphite paint basically. Happy modelling, Chris
