@Eastwood - good question. It’s for trying versions say you like to try an image in black and white or try a version with some sort of Ai and you don’t want to edit the original. In the past you’d need to export an image, rename it in such a way to differentiate it and import it. Then edit as you want to - but this increases the size of your catalogue. Virtual copies do not.
For me, the color transfer is one of the best updates; it really lessens the time I spend messing with LUT (e.g., in Photoshop). I haven't used their catalog to date because it was so cumbersome. I may do so now as I am ceasing my Adobe subscription on Jan 25.
Does anyone know if upgrading to the latest version of Neo force you into a subscription model or disable features that would only be available in a subscription model? I still have a perpetual license but haven't updated the software in probably 6+ months, and am reluctant to do so since I see Luminar may be going subscription only in the near future and am concerned that updating it would render some key features useless since I don't have, and don't care to get a subscription (it's not my primary RAW processor anyway, and is mostly run along side programs like PS and LR and mostly use it for quick editing of tedious tasks like sky replacements and some of the other color adjustment/lighting tools).
Thanks for the tutorial, however for me the updates are once again " much ado about nothing," frankly its been a con and an expensive way of giving a mostly basic catalogue enhancement that should have been available from the start. As for the colour enhancement, well, it's nice to have but another bit of sweetener so they could make money for not much to wildlife photographers. 🎉
My version locks up. They need to work on the basics and improve the masking. Why can’t they just refine the basics and drop the mostly useless additions
It’s reasonable comment - the fix is (usually) a damaged Catalogue. The fix is use the one prior to the problem. As for useless, for you sure. Stick with what works
I agree but again, it is not mandatory to ever do that. I feel the same way about skies. Take your camera outdoors any day and take some photographs as you look up. If you don't like anything or the sky is clear, wait for another day.

Apologies for the newb question, what is the virtual copy for typically?

Yes it is

I noticed that the colour transfer is making the image muddier. It's taking away the sharpness from the photo. Did you also notice this?
Which portrait editor is best?

Probably good software, but I can't use it cos it's crushing all the time not even skylum support can find solution.
great vid

Why anyone would want to “Copy” someone else’s color science is beyond me.. No thanks
