- Beautiful Finland's nature & Finnish folk music: song "Korjuu" (meaning "harvest") performed with kantele by Finnish one man band Nostatus (in Finnish it means: "invocation; summoning; raising/waking up") from the Album "Sanan Synty" 2006. His music is clearly bound to Finnish and also Baltic-Finnic music traditions.
Lyrics:
Korjuusel ko mä olehe Elose on elottehe
Korrek' kaik raual kaatuhe Tähkäk' kaik teräl taittuhe
Varrek' kaik ko vaaputtava Juurek' kaik ja juureheva
Laajak' on laajasellahe Taajak' on taajasellahe
Sarak' kaik ko sarajava Verkasek' ko verajava
TRANSLATION OF THE LYRICS:
When I am harvesting
I'm living my life
All the stalks fall with the iron
All the ears bend with the blade
All the stems that are shaking
All the roots and the rooting
The wides are extending
The thicks are becoming denser
All the sedges that are growing
All the slow ones that leisure
The reason why I decided to become a pagan was my father, who explained to me the respect for nature, the admiration of bonfires in the dark of the night, and when he explained to me experiences with ghosts and otherworldly beings.
bro, I think I am Pagan. I am from Lithuania and I like to be in forest alone very often 😂 I just love forest. and I love our Baltic and Finish folk music. this song is very similar to what Lithuanians would play.
there is no other place similar to our forests for me. it just has that kinda sad but also divine feel about it.
I never been to Finland but I want to go to countryside Finland for sure.
@@Bambino8888Welcome, our Baltic brother. A Finn here, pagan for most of my life.
Hienoa että tällaista vielä löytyy! ❤
Great song, i can feel the power of my ancestors.

Kantele is actually related to kokle, both likely have origins in the ancient Comb Ceramic Culture.
@@Balticfolkmost of Finnish children still get their Kantele and play in music groups. But few get to reallly master it.
Thanks. I'm half Finn and know nothing at all about my roots
That is sad. Half of your ancestors are the most ancient in Europe (proven by genetic research). Hope you learn more about your roots.
Uh.. No actually they are a mix up of very old European and Uralic Siberian. Very strange mix.
@@mattoverho1 Tervehdys. A nice Finn told me about "Kansallisarkisto" - the National Archives of Finland, I hope to trace my roots back more.
I am learning new things about the history and culture, and even some Finnish words, thanks again to nice Finns.
We finss have very interesting roots and connections to many kig things In europes history but were also People called verenseisauttajat thats some kind of a special thing it was told that finss can do did u know this now cus it has been two years
@@mattoverho1 Definitely most of Finnish DNA is that, but some of it is also Uralic Siberian.
Europeans are waking from a long slumber.

I really want to buy the rights to use this song in my RUclips videos.
Any idea how that can be accomplished?
The rights belong to Finnish artist Pekka Aho. You could try contacting him directly through his youtube channel: ruclips.net/user/PGladeKantele
definitely a song to cut a tree down to
This sounds more like a kind of joik song in stead it being a rune song , very lovely anyways, I always love the ancient stuff most.
The presentation and the way it is sung maybe is similar to a joik, but the actual words and context are very much in the style of rune songs historically used while doing different tasks.
No wonder Finns and native Americans came along
Swedes are the only people with whom Finns haven't gotten along. Still dont'.
@@jonnekallu1627Forgetting the russkies?
@@jonnekallu1627 then why Finland has swedish as its official language?
As an estonian It's Like i would understand it but i don't lol
i have same with estonian songs and estonian in general (im finnish)'
but when i see some text in estonian then i can understand it or at least some of it.
I'm Finnish and I still don't understand much of this
where can i buy this music from?
I found this album still available here: www.discogs.com/sell/release/2732520?ev=rb
It Sounds similar to the estonian Song "Kui meid sõtta sõrmitie"
I've looked that song up and you've got a point here! Both songs are in the ancient Kalevala-metre: Estonian and Finnish languages may have drifted apart since the old days but the melodies of regilaulu & runo songs have not.
BTW thanks for letting me know about that song, I really liked Metsatöll version of it :)
It's because it's not Finnish, Estonian?

Why is "Elose on elottehe" left out of the english lyrics? Does it mean something like "Life is meant to be lived" or "Elo se on elettävä" in finnish?
One benevolent Finn translated this song for me as I am not fluent in Finnish myself. As I understand, the second line of the song translates as "The crops are growing" in English. That Finn did mention that the language of this song is rather dialectal and difficult to make out.
@@Balticfolk I'm finnish and can tell you that "Elose on elottehe" has nothing to do with crops.. I think its like.. "Elose" = Elo se.. Meaning "life that is" I was just wondering what elottehe means but since it starts the same way.. "elottehe" I'm guessing it means something like "elättävä" Meaning life is meant to be lived or rather in a finnish way.. You can't do anything else than live your life.. That part is left out of the lyrics so i was curious.. Its really dialect heavy yes..
@@Balticfolk Actually reading through it again.. None of the lines says "The crops are growing" Altho the song is about harvesting.. The lyrics basically skip the part i was interested in and is not translated and some of the other lines are over simplified.
"Korjuusel ko mä olehe Elose on elottehe" Basically means something like "I'm harvesting, living my life." But you can't really translate it to english because the sentence structure won't work which is probably why it wasn't translated properly.
@@ermourn1337 Thanks for the explanation! It's fascinating how the Finnish language works, there's so much depth and layers to it... I've now changed the subtitles and video description according to what you wrote, I hope this will help to get a deeper understanding of this song for people who will stumble upon it in the future :)
The spirits be a soul in my body from norse, from loki familia, must get out from this body and life in norse society to have protection.
Finland was not Norse.
Does this really sound norse to you?
Except this song is Uralic in origin and not related to norse people.
Wtf i just watch
The question is not what you've just watched but whether you liked it or not :)
Baltic folk im finnish people and i hate this screaming and finland is shittes world ever
I've always had the impression that Finland is one of the cleanest countries with lots of pure wild nature, is it not true? Frankly, I've never been to Finland myself, so can't confirm either way...
Baltic folk My suggestion is that you don't even consider listening to people like them. They're often accused of Treason against their own heritage. I'm Finnish myself, and I treasure my origins. I wouldn't even consider giving up my culture, for there are no cultures other than mine.
But if I must give some ground for Jari, I think he must have meant that this music doesn't exactly sound very Finnish. I may have picked up Kantele from the midst of the song, but these hummings aren't that relevant in Finnish musical culture. Well, except in Sami cultures, as they practice Throat Singing.
