Fun fact! The Main-gauche is the second weapon that isn't powerstanced with it's own class, as it is also a dagger, but can only be paired with Thrusting Swords!
Yeah! I learned from comments haha, but also there is a pickaxe in the base game that is a great hammer but is power stance with great axes! so that makes 3 :)
@DoomWolfOfficial Well 3 weeks late, but i didn't count it cus the Main-gauche and Wakizashi both say that they can be power stanced with different types only. Idk abt the Pickaxe.
26:07 there is actually an explanation for that, bonny village is where the hornsent stuffed the shamans into the jars to make the monstrosites that you find in the gaol dungeons. There's a few of the spirit npcs and also the item description of the Tooth Whip that allude to this
Fun fact, the wakizashi is basically a shorter katana that is holstered on the back so samurai could attack on horse since a katana would be more difficult to grab on horse
Does anyone know what triggers Gideon to use his staff for melee attacks? Because in all the playthroughs I've done since release 2 and half years ago, I have never ever seen him do that. And I've fought him under so many different circumstances including some really lengthy drawn out fights, and he never did a melee attack in any of all those many many playthroughs. So that can't just be an RNG thing, because it would have happened at some point in 2,5 years if it was just a chance thing. I don't care if it's 1% chance occurrence. It would have happened. But it never did, so there has to be some obscure requirement for it. Could it be that he can only do that if you defeat Mohg first? Because I'm not sure if I ever fought Gideon after fighting Mohg.
I have no idea. I've seen him do it twice (that I can remember). I would have said maybe he ran out of FP (i've seen him try to cast and do that look and scratch head animation), but in this case he literally never cast so he shouldnt' have any issue. I think the hammer he hit me with he doesn't usually have equipped though right? he takes it out to cast that debuff (that I can't remember the name of) then puts it away so he can have a seal and staff out. so I mean, that might be part of the reason, if he just rarely has it out, he would rarely use it haha
If you did a pokemon run, I had in mind a Digimon run. Very similar, but you're kinda free to use w/e armor or weapons you like, cuz you know, digimon is weird like that. But there are some limitations. You start as a rookie and are limited to a weak weapon (weak meaning no bleed, no too high damage, mostly plain and unimpressive). The "digivolve" points in the game are: - Margit, in which you're allowed to get to Champion either during (after he gets to 50%), or after the fight (during if you're fast enough with equipping the new gear). As a Champion you're restricted to medium speed weapons (like greatswords). - Morgot, in which you're allowed to get to Perfect (Ultimate in English), again either during or after. As a Perfect, you're limited to slow weapons (great hammers, colossal, etc.) - Maliketh, in which you're allowed to get to Ultimate (Mega) only after the fight. As an Ultimate, you are free to use w/e weapon you want, as OP as it can possibly get. When facing Elden Beast, you're allowed to "DNA Digivolve" and be even OPer than before, but it's up to you how to make it so.
Neat idea, I'm actually not too familiar with digimon, so I feel like I wouldn't be able to do it justice (not that I did a whole lot with the pokemon namesake here lol), but I do like the restrictions you mentioned!
when you killed metyr and didnt find the boss fight after it was because you had to interact with the chair again, then jolan would invade you then ymir would fight you.
Main-gauche, another Dagger but from the DLC, can be power-stanced with Thrusting Swords so that makes 2 of these types of weapons. Weirdly they're both daggers... I would not have been surprised if the Sword Lance (Heavy Thrusting Sword) could've been power-stanced with Great Spears due to having a Great Spear heavy attack, but I'm pretty sure you can't do it.
I love the main-gauche, you can do some really cool builds with it and the Carian Sorcery Sword where you can have parrying, powerstanced thrusting swords, *and* spellcasting all on the same build at the same time. Super fun. Not optimal by any measure, but really fun.
@@BigHatLoganGaming I know, it's pretty sweet when you have a great main hand weapon. I like the main-gauche in off-hand right now for the parry strats though. The Carian Sorcery Sword is just so versatile and has so many weird mix-ups and things you can do, I wish more folks did vids about it. Also, great name man, Big Hat Logan was a cool dude.
22:40: I think a little more enemy variety would do wonders for the Abyssal Woods. It's _supposed_ not to be crowded, of course, but man, why does Madness affect nothing but goats and rats? And the goats don't even attack. Had they put a single madness-Runebear hidden in a corner somewhere, it'd up the tension by a ton (you'd be scared of finding _more_ of them).
Regarding Romina hurting herself, it could be a bug. But Malenia also starts her second phase not at full health, so maybe wielding rot doesn't mean one is immune to it, even if they're powerful (demi)gods
Facts, I mean Malenia is being slowly eaten away at by the rot, so she's absolutely not immune it. I had never considered there was a lore reason why she started at 75% health lol
Wakizashi isn't the only "powerstance with other weapon class" type of weapon, the Main Gauche or whatever from the DLC is essentially a parrying dagger that can powerstance thrusting swords
The DLC difficulty is Doom's punishment for getting his Elden Ring information through Reddit. Also yes, powerstanced jump attacks don't do much Poise damage.
tbf, i've sort of leveled out with the difficulty, I mean some things still don't work for me, but just as Malenia had become, this DLC is now "easy" lol
Worth noting for Radahn During his rupture combo you can get a rolling r1 after the third swing then have a slightly delayed roll for the overhead swing and dodge the explosion like normal. 1 extra dmg window goes a long way in this fight. Great vid as always doom!
It's been so long since Elden Ring came out, I've been playing it since the release, I've already beaten the DLC and thought I know everything about the game... And I just learn that there is a Wakizashi in the game. I think it shows how big Elden Ring actually is and it's great, just as your video
26:11 just before the village there's a shack with the tooth whip and a ghost telling about the Shaman beign flayed, also the guesture about O mother in front of a statue of Marika aludes to Messmer but, in true Fromsfot fashion it needs items description reading to piece it together without a guide. The shaman and the Bonny vilages is some of the best lore Fromsoft has hidden in items imo as it actually contextualize Messmer's Crusade because the Shaman were flayed and their flesh mixed into jars to becomes saints by the hornsent, like Leda said, they weren't saint, they just lost the war.
I recently learned that the jar people were shamans stuffed together, and there are many jars in that place (like the second half of your comment states haha) so I see how the connection is made now, but still feels very from soft-y to expect us to get it
Few tips for Bayle and Radahn. Bayle: All of his ground explosion attacks can be easily jumped. Back roll the grab and some of the slams to be in a better punish location. Unlock and watch the ground on his laser (you want to dodge the wave of fire not the actual laser). Radahn: Stance breaking him is effectively not viable. He has so many long animations with no damage windows along with a fast stance regen so he recovers almost any stance damage you may have done. The 3 move cross slash is not dodgeable without backstep talisman, parrying, blocking, raptor of the mists, and maybe that one golden order Iframe AoW. There are some cases where you will be way to the left or right and he will miss the first/second slash letting you dodge it. Consistent setups do exist but you have to play around them.
Thanks for the tips. I tried jumping earlier, but theres some..weird stuff going on with that, more on that in the next video lol, I absolutly back rolled the grab, pretty sure I even showed it, back roll, one swing, dodge right dodge left, fully charged r2, that was my bread and butter haha. for the lazer I knew to unlock, but I panicked in the winning attempt so you saw me try to figure it out lmao Radahn's cross slash move _is_ dodgable without any special stuff, it's just inconsistent. Yesterday evening I was fighting him for the next video and was at a light roll. Found I was able to dodge it more, but it still felt random
@@DoomWolfOfficial The cross slash feels very dependent on positioning similar to that one uppercut Malenia mixes into some combo strings except even more punishing.
The method of dodging it works every time from my experience, fighting it in new game and then new game+ I used the method every time it happened. Doom just started running to the side too late to get past the laser, which is why I typically begin running to the side before the lasers even start. Also, if she does the attack while you're stuck in an animation, you're more than likely gonna get blasted since the window for getting to run under the laser is pretty short if I remember right.
You can easily slip under on the second pass, I haven't quiet worked out how to do the one. I guess it would have to be running to the left or right but idk
I have this running joke with my Dex Builds, where the Main Character is usually an Oompa Loompa who was not captured by Willy Wonka and is trying to become so strong, that he becomes a Dark Souls boss and can demolish the entire factory with his Katana, to the point where the factory sinks below ground and becomes a sequel to an existing place called: Blighttown 2: The Funhouse
The “connection” with the statue and the village is the whip in Bonny Village that mentions shamans… yah. Miyazaki was smoking crack when he came up with that idea
The best counter I've found for Commander Gaius is the deflecting hard tear and using guard counters. It pretty much turns the fight into Gyoubu with gravity magic.
7:57 I actually used the regular great katana with a bleed infused ash of war for massive bleed build up to beat dlc radahn, that shit slaps, probably the best great katana for that simple fact lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial I dont like the AoW either tbh lol I think I had wild strikes or whatever it's called (the when where you hold the weapon with one hand and swing it a lot in front of you) and that made him bleed a lot lol
To avoid the laser beam in the Meytr fight, you have to run away from it until it moves far enough away from the boss for you to safely get between. The second one will pretty much always be a safe distance from the boss to get in between them
@@DoomWolfOfficial the timing is still a bit strict but I hope the tip helps in all future challenges. Also congratulations on your placement in the one shot challenge. I watched all of the videos and thoroughly enjoyed all of pain you guys went through :p.
Consider your petition signed. Rykard is more puzzle than boss. Does anyone actually care if you skip a puzzle in a boss rush game? Screw the gimmick fight, or better yet, spear it.
The majority don't/probably agree that it's a gimmick, I'm of the camp that if I _can_ beat the gimmick with my limitation I should jsut for the pure challenge, but I also hate it. It's dumb lol
Okay so the reason why shaman are related to Bonnie village is because you can find multiple items that describe how they would stuff the shaman in the jars in bonnie village and nowhere else
I love how you beat every single early game boss with a single dagger yet I cant even get through the beggining with my starting Uchigatana. I feel so humilliated at this point that ill just sell my PS5 and be done with my gaming for good.
So funny thing about Rellana is that she is one of the only bosses in the game I think who takes damage when getting up from a critical hit so stance breaking her for a crit and then swinging like a madman works wonders and led to me killing her before she transitioned to her second stage by accident.
I can confirm that light-roll makes Gaius way better, in my first playthrough of the dlc I was light-rolling, and I actually really enjoyed him, on my second one I was mid-rolling and he was absolute shit
Hey Doom, I actually found a better way to dodge Gaius’s charge. I saw this online where the player would walk either left or right and just before the charge connects, you dodge in the opposite direction. So if you were moving left, you would dodge right. This works with medium load and I was able to consistently avoid the charge every time the fight starts and whenever he is a good distance from me.
29:13 Malenia lost her arm to the rot despite being its main source. Romina seems to just be someone who found a source of rot in the lands of shadow, so she isn’t as insulated from its effects even though she’s become a centipede
Bonny Village has a white shade next to a shed with the Tooth Whip that mentions shamans and how they have a fate to be put in pots. You also find the gesture in the village. You also need to know that Marika is Messmer's mom and you're in his keep. That's it... this is one case of "FromSoft did this in the past therefore, former series knowledge is required." Not the biggest fan of this approach. On my first run, I had remembered the white shade connection but never found the gesture until a friend hinted at the dead tree I completely missed for the gesture I was shown thru messages. Romina taking damage from the butterflies... I dunno, it's probably a bug. Altho her remembrance does mention that she practically adopted Malenia's butterflies when the former died so maybe it's just mishandling a side effect of exploding butterflies not being her own? This is just wild speculation.
Yeah, and I don't mind that they do that, that's there whole business model lol just makes it hard to find connections, though having an interactable npc helps Rominas thing is definitely a bug lol
Another great run. I still need to finish the dlc on my Weiss Schnee character. But I also have an idea of a new challenge run for you if you're ever interested. Idk if it would be easier to say it here or over discord (though I don't know you're discord name cuz I'm dumb and also just too lazy to ever look it up lol)
It's actually a bit older than me, but Bob Barker was a guy that advocated heavily for spaying and neutering your pets, and you'll notice when I take the swing at Maliketh, a wolf type enemy, my sword went right for the crotch lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial Oh... now I'm just embarrassed lmao. Apparently I don't know a lot about Bob Barker. I thought you were talking about the bit in Happy Gilmore where Happy gets in a fistfight with Bob. I saw you got third in the one hit challenge in ds1! good job! and nice video ^^ (also which armor set are you wearing with your final evolution?)
Thanks :) and you mean here? It's just the ronin set haha
@@DoomWolfOfficial wow I never realised it looked that good!
I believe the DLC added a dagger that can be power stanced with thrusting swords.
It did!
I have this running joke with my Dex Builds, where the Main Character is usually an Oompa Loompa who was not captured by Willy Wonka and is trying to become so strong, that he becomes a Dark Souls boss and can demolish the entire factory with his Katana, to the point where the factory sinks below ground and becomes a sequel to an existing place called:
Blighttown 2: The Funhouse
That is an elaborate RP, but I'm for it lol
Great video! Keep it up king
Thanks my friend :)
The “connection” with the statue and the village is the whip in Bonny Village that mentions shamans… yah. Miyazaki was smoking crack when he came up with that idea
Ah yes, the tooth whip. I guess that's true but that's still out there lol
The best counter I've found for Commander Gaius is the deflecting hard tear and using guard counters. It pretty much turns the fight into Gyoubu with gravity magic.
that sounds like fun lol
Today, I learned the Serpent Hunter respawns, because no one else I watch has ever been silly enough to *throw it away*
Yeah, they are all smart lmao, but hey we learned something new!
I just love the NSP references! Always glad to see a fellow fan!
Glad you caught it :)
Imaginatons for Astel: Tentacle Time, Fun Time?! ;)
good one ;) lol
Seeing this again reminds me of the Meteoric Ore Blade, a meteor katana. So I'm doing a run with it just to see how it does. It's pretty good so far
I remember it being good (haven't used it since my first playthrough)
20:24 You mean... Sunflora for dinner? 😂😂😂😂
you right i missed a prime pokemon joke there, surprised no one else caught that lmao
@@DoomWolfOfficial I guess that I just fill in the very niche portion of your viewers that are Pokémon fans, soulsborne fans AND like dad jokes
You pulled a garchomp at the end. Despite having a mega, the base form just makes more sense
facts lol
the only thing I remember for playing pokemon, is I got a slaking, and named it bread, so that every other turn it just said bread is LOAFING around
HA that's a good quality pun right there
Miyazaki should've put Chaos Dragon Bolosax in the abyssal woods 😢
I'm surprised there isn't something like that there, that would have been awesome
Finally beat the dlc last week so I can watch your Elden Ring vids again 🎉
How do you feel about the dlc? Did you like it?
@@DoomWolfOfficial oh I thought it was a masterpiece. Worth every penny. Hby?
"A gold fish could beat him" yes tortellini
Is that the goldfishes name??? Nice
didnt expect a "Water boy" reference 3 minutes into the video. based
Thanks lol
Dude your movie references are spot on
Glad you liked them :)
Lmao, the Water-boy reference 😂
Glad you got it :)
7:57 I actually used the regular great katana with a bleed infused ash of war for massive bleed build up to beat dlc radahn, that shit slaps, probably the best great katana for that simple fact lol
putting bleed on it would be great, maybe that would make the AoW more useful to proc bleed haha
The second one will pretty much always be a safe distance from the boss to get in between them
Thanks for the tip!
@@DoomWolfOfficial the timing is still a bit strict but I hope the tip helps in all future challenges.
Also congratulations on your placement in the one shot challenge. I watched all of the videos and thoroughly enjoyed all of pain you guys went through :p.
Amogus
Thank you for giving me an excuse to get up with this banger of a video
I'm glad I could help :)
Oh that one actually makes a lot of sense
ah yes, another piece of entertainment for my dinner, a classic as always Mr. Doom
Glad you liked it :)
The civvy reference is gold
I love me some CV11 lol
I love how you beat every single early game boss with a single dagger yet I cant even get through the beggining with my starting Uchigatana. I feel so humilliated at this point that ill just sell my PS5 and be done with my gaming for good.
I just have a lot of time on my hands my friend, don't give up!
Doom YOU'RE! BACK! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO!
I hope you liked it :)
@@DoomWolfOfficial Thanks :)
Duuuuuuudeeee!! I’m playing this exact character right now!
nice! are you enjoying it?
main-gauche can also power stance with non-daggers, as it is treated like a rapier in that regard
Yeah! I learned about it through these comments, and also that the base game pickaxe is like that too!
So funny thing about Rellana is that she is one of the only bosses in the game I think who takes damage when getting up from a critical hit so stance breaking her for a crit and then swinging like a madman works wonders and led to me killing her before she transitioned to her second stage by accident.
Lots of bosses can be hit when they are getting up, unless you mean she has _no_ s on standing, then that's huge haha
@@DoomWolfOfficial Yeah she has no s while picking herself up after a critical hit.
Yayyyyyy thank you for the new video I was about to crack and go hallow
I hope you enjoyed it my friend :)
@@DoomWolfOfficial I did lol
Small correction, the Pick Axe greathammer can also be powerstanced with Greataxes, so the wakizashi isn’t the only one, it’s still very cool, though!
Yeah! I learned thanks to comments :) also there is a dagger in the dlc that can be with thrusting sword too!
@@DoomWolfOfficial the Main-Gauche?
Smooth video as always, cheers from Germany
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it :)
1:44 *there’s now a new dagger that powerstances with thrusting swords :)
true! i'll have to try it out haha
What i like about Doom is he replies to all comments
I'm happy people comment, so I want to respond as much as I can!
I can't spoil myself on the DLC, however this was great to watch!
fair! Thanks for enjoying up to what you did :) (and if you're playing the DLC now, have fun!)
“Its alll in the hips”
me, unlocking my full power as kempachi lol
Good Video Brandon Wolf!
thanks!
I can confirm that light-roll makes Gaius way better, in my first playthrough of the dlc I was light-rolling, and I actually really enjoyed him, on my second one I was mid-rolling and he was absolute shit
That sounds about right lol
Hey Doom, I actually found a better way to dodge Gaius’s charge. I saw this online where the player would walk either left or right and just before the charge connects, you dodge in the opposite direction. So if you were moving left, you would dodge right. This works with medium load and I was able to consistently avoid the charge every time the fight starts and whenever he is a good distance from me.
I'll have to try it, if he doesn't have good tracking that could work
@@DoomWolfOfficial Found the link to the Reddit post www.reddit.com/r/onebros/comments/1dys3zg/easy_commander_gaius_charge_dodge/
Good video I think I'll try a run like this
Thanks! And go for it!
Good waterboy and Happy Gilmore joke 3:24 9:56
haha glad you got them :)
18:46 As with all the chimeras in elden ring, the answer is “the crucible”. No, we still don’t really know what that is
26:16 the naked men wielding knifes put the shamans in jars and tortured them with whips
29:13 Malenia lost her arm to the rot despite being its main source. Romina seems to just be someone who found a source of rot in the lands of shadow, so she isn’t as insulated from its effects even though she’s become a centipede
as it was, is, and will be (that we wont know for sure lol)
Bro mentioned Amanda Show… now that’s an ancient memory
Tell me about it, I felt like I aged writing it lol
Yeah, and I don't mind that they do that, that's there whole business model lol just makes it hard to find connections, though having an interactable npc helps
Rominas thing is definitely a bug lol
Rusty Anchor and Pickaxe pair too
True! I learned from these comments about the pickaxe!
You need to examine the throne in the cathedral of manus metyr for the boss fight to start
Dang, I was so close lol
References?
i like your funny words magic man😊
A reference for referencing my references, nice lol
The dlc added a dagger that does the same for thrusting swords.
true! There is also the pickaxe in the base game!
dang budget cuts, ruining our fun /j
nah but for real I know I'm late but this is another banger video
right! haha, and thank you my friend I appreciate it all the same :)
Hooray, another DoomWolf run🥰
Hope you like it :)
Yo nice vid when u will do a magepokemon run ?
:3
Soon™ lol
Another great run. I still need to finish the dlc on my Weiss Schnee character. But I also have an idea of a new challenge run for you if you're ever interested. Idk if it would be easier to say it here or over discord (though I don't know you're discord name cuz I'm dumb and also just too lazy to ever look it up lol)
I believe in you my friend! you can either post it as a comment, or join the discord (in the description of my friends you can find a link haha)
Was the Bob Barker bit a Happy Gilmore reference? If so it definitely landed with me, and I'm pretty young.
Towards the end of the fight, Bob asks Happy if he's done fighting, knocks Happy out, then says "now you're done" or something to that effect. That's kinda how I thought your fight with Maliketh went at the end. Guess I wasn't paying enough attention...
Land of Reeds look way more of a high ranking samurai armor than Ronin(hence why the name of the set is "Ronin" i guess, lol) ngl.
I would agree with this, but because it was the katana, and samurai starting class..you know lol
You should have worn the rakshasa equipment as your last evolution since I think that's the heaviest Japanese/samurai armor currently
I looked it up, I can kinda see what you're going for, but It looks more like blood soaked knight armor to me haha
Doom doesnt evolve until beating morgott.
I didn't know samurai were Deino.
I forgot to mention it, but i did think about using Deino's lines levels, but it made more sense for the video the way I did it lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial my progress is scuffed in this games, but to me, level 64 is hitting up leyndell in my runs, so yeah, probably for the better.
Maybe the Abyssal Woods could allow torrent after beating Midra so you can still have the horror vibes and the ability to get the fragments but if you decide to beat Midra first then the fragments will be nicer to go for
That wouldn't be a bad compromise
That character looks like my husband after being in the sun without any sun screen 😌
Oof, but same tho lol
Idea. Do all 10 starting classes for 1 video and place them on a tier list as you complete them
that sounds like a loooooong video lol
Not using deflecting hardtear for a samurai class has got to be a crime
so what you're saying is I should do it again lol
@@DoomWolfOfficial absolutely
Yo what's the armour you used for third stage?
the Ronin set :)
