    Awesome video and build!! Have built this kit way back in those ancient days of the 1970s as a kid. Built it again in the late 1980s. Built again sometime in mid-1990s. And will build it again now that USS ENTERPRISE has been decommissioned.

      @@BwoahBwoahBwoah , I saw that. Looking good. A few tips, if you don't mind: Wait until you're completely done to do your decals; and lay down a coat of clear acrylic (especially over flat paints), like Pledge Floor wax, with a brush where your decals will go and let it dry for a day before you lay down the decals. Decals adhere and look best when laid down on a very smooth surface. You should be able to find the Pledge Floor Wax in the cleaning products isle of your local grocery store. Keep up the good work and keep posting progress, and I'll keep watching. Feel free to ask any questions as you go along. I'm so happy to see a young person like yourself getting into this great hobby. Good Luck!

Use scissors on masking tape to get nice straight edges. and carefully use the masking tape around the engraved landing area markings. Wait until the paint is semi-dry/tacky before pulling up the tape. I can't stress enough...take your time. Its not a race. It's about accuracy, not speed. Wow you're really doing the work on this kit! Looks great!
    I'm building this kit right now, completely out of the box so very simple! I bought it mainly for nostalgic reasons (my dad built a similair Revell kit when I was a kid) and to see if I'd like to build a ship. I might go for a bigger scale of an aircraft carrier at some point.
    Oh yeah, I think you should get a pop cap for your microphone! Would do wonders for the sound quality of your vids. :) Just a thought.

    • @mightyjjk1298
      @mightyjjk1298  4 года назад +1

      Hope all is going well on your build. I'm working on the E2-A right now. Larger scales cost more $ and take-up more space, but are easier for our old eyes and fingers to deal with. Good Luck. FYI; this video was done with old equipment, and with MS Movie Maker. I have a Mac now, a better mic now, and just taught myself how to do noise reduction/volume adjustments in iMovie; So things have improved and will get better. Thanks for the feedback, and for the kind comments. Happy Modeling. Hope you post the results of the ship.

      @@mightyjjk1298 Unfortunately I made a bit of an error while constructing, since I painted the lower and upper hull first and only then glued them together. It isn't a perfect fit though, so it needs some adjusting and perhaps even some spruegoo to get it right which means my painting so far has been for nothing. Not done with this kit though, I'll get back to it.
      The biggest problem right now it is freezing cold in my buildingroom! So I suspended all build activities for a while. ;) Currently working on a 1/48 BF-109 E3. Usually WW2 is more my gig so when I run in trouble that's my safespace to return to.
      Good stuff on the sound quality! Proper video editing is really an art I found out, so good to see you it is working out for you!

      Wash the parts with dish soap. Then paint the deck black first. Let that dry. Then mask around he lines etched in the deck part. Like it looks at 20:13 in the video. Paint the masked out white lines with the center line yellow & white. When that’s dry mask over that and the entire deck up to the edges. And paint the edges hull gray color.

    • @jkts6148

      Not sure, but model building instructions are often wrong. That’s why you should always use independent references.

    • @trainliker100
      @trainliker100 3 года назад

      I built a Revell Saratoga CV-60 about 60 years ago and just didn't personally like the red. I thought it was too distracting for a model that wasn't a waterline model. So I painted the hull grey and, below the water line, black. It's "not prototypical", but it made for a nice clean look. It sort of put that bulk of the bottom of the hull more out of mind and focused the eye on the superstructure.

      I was/am working from GRS video taken by crew on the 68 cruise. I think the bow 65 may be the solid one, etc. I'll get back to the ship/deck pretty much as the very last step, after all the aircraft, vehicles and crew are done. Then, I'll make any last corrections, weather (lightly) the planes, vehicles, ship and deck; and glue all of the above in final position. That's going to be years down the road at the pace I'm going.
      If you are aware of anything that needs correcting, I want to know. As you saw in the F4 Fix video, historical accuracy is important to me.

      While the kit came with aircraft, they were poor representations. I am making the planes separately; using Trumpeter after-market kits. See the other videos on my channel. I''m making all the aircraft in 1/72, then the 1/720 ones, so when I'm all done I'll have the ship with its planes (and service vehicles) in the middle, surrounded by all the aircraft from CVW-9/1968 in 1/72. Hey bro. I just bought the USS 1/720 Enterprise from Revell. I don't have all that fancy stuff like you. I only use my brushes/ paint/ pva glue and decal solution. Can I also build it or not?

    • @mightyjjk1298
      @mightyjjk1298  5 лет назад

      Absolutely you can! My only suggestion would be to use spray cans for the red, and gray, ie, the largest surface areas. But instead of after-market decals, you can just mask tape around the etched in landing area outlines and brush those white with a white and yellow center line down the middle. It’s a good kit to build “ out of the box”. And if you check out my plane builds, you’ll see Im building them pretty much “ lout of the box”. I just took this ship as far as my predetermined budget, imagination and meager abilities allowed. (I already had the Indy kit and decided to canablize it rather than build it). Good luck on your build and feel free to ask any questions you might have along the way.

      Nicky Louwagie, you can paint the entire model by brush if you want. It will just take longer. The Order would be: lower hull red. Deck black or dark gray, edge of deck and island lighter gray. Then the landing area outlines white then center line yellow and white. Good Luck.
