Every Beatles Song From Lowest to Highest Rated

  • Опубликовано: 15 авг 2024
  • On the internet, I shared a survey I created where a person can go through and rate every Beatles song that exists on a 0-10 scale. I received hundreds of responses, and went through all the data averaging together the ratings for every song, and then put theming into ascending order. The result is what I believe to be perhaps the most accurate ranking of every Beatles songs according to the fanbase’s opinions.
This video took a lot of work, and if you’re interested in more big videos like this, consider leaving a like on the video and letting me know in the comments you want more stuff like this. Thanks for watching as always!

That’s not original to the Beatles. Brian Wilson had already made several pop/rock compositions as complex as A Day in the Life before it was written, notably Good Vibrations, and the entire Pet Sounds album (which inspired Sgt Pepper). A Day in the Life is in no sense the first progressive rock song or the first popular song to use changing tempo.
Additionally, Paul McCartney himself has declared God Only Knows to be the greatest song ever written, implying The Beatles never wrote anything as good. Other than In My Life and Yesterday, which are on equal ground, he’s right.

A Day in The Life is indeed their best song - quintessential Beatles, the best example of what they did in and for popular music. If someone didn't know the Beatles at all, and I could only play them one song, I'd play them that song. It's not my fav song of theirs, but it's in my top 10.

Paradoxically, I wouldn’t call it the quintessential Beatles song even if it’s their best. While it does show John and Paul at their creative peak (specially John), I’d think the quintessential Beatles song features all four in more even foot. George and Ringo are barely in the song.

I don't think the Medley even belongs in the top 10, as you said, it's just endless unfinished songs that can't stand on their own, put together works well but it's not that brilliant, John had basically already done it in Happiness is a Warm Gun and it resulted in something much more cohesive. I have no idea how they(to those who have surveyed here) managed to overrate "The End" in this survey.

I find it especially fascinating that Day Tripper and We Can Work It Out are neck and neck. I also think it’s great that, besides a few tracks at the bottom, pretty much all their songs are 6’s and above, most of them being 7/8 and above (and obviously many 9’s too). I think that just shows the quality of music they produced: almost all their songs were above average compared to the general populace, and many were exceptional.
I also wish they would have had the Abbey Road Medley songs all put together and critiqued together, but it’s interesting to see them ranked apart too.

Overall, I find it interesting that a large majority of their earlier songs are rated lower than most of their later songs. My mother was a teenager when the Beatles' popularity skyrocketed, so the earlier albums (Hard Day's Night, With the Beatles, Beatles for Sale, etc.) have more value to her than I expect they do for most people who weren't yet alive in the early '60s to experience the new hype.

There's a place only #194?! Also Baby its you, Devil in her heart and Boys in the bottom 30?! Seems strange when there are other early songs that are by comparison slight 30 or 40 places higher!

We'll never know for sure, but Paul claims to have written the melody and chords to In My Life and that John only wrote the lyrics. In interviews with Lennon, he talks about writing the lyrics and that Paul only wrote the bridge, implying that Lennon wrote the verse melody and chords.

Just gonna say it: I love Don't Pass Me By and think it's the best Ringo-sung song #justiceforringo
Also It's All Too Much is a terribly overlooked Harrison track. It's a crime it was as low as is it.
