Spring bulbs in January is wild to me. lol. I live in Ontario Canada where we have snow until April, with the occasional storm in May. We are having a heat spell right now going up to -10, after having -25 to -30 for a while.
😁 so my garden is in the central belt of Scotland. Probably the mildest part of the country. We rarely see snow in my town, and the coldest days of winter are usually around minus 5 or 6 C - I have seen a lot colder but that’s the exception rather than the rule. Hi Both. Good to see how the garden is progressing. Just to say I’m in midlands in England and I don’t think it’s been a crazy mild winter. I think it’s been freezing. We’ve had two proper dumplings of snow and fairly long periods of below zero weather.

A good start could be to catch the bulb lasagne video from the other year, follow on with my daffodils this year. that’s the serious side… then next year we can do the more garden version
More info about starting flowers from seeds and not bulbs would be great. There are lots of bulb videos and a good amount of flower market videos, but I want to add more flowers to my veggie garden for beauty and pollinators. I have marigolds, zinnia, and calendula down, but I have so many flower seeds that I have failed to propogate year after year.
That will be a beautiful display can I ask can you see it from indoors? Hope you can. Glad you were not heavily affected by storm E did you get the follow up One I saw forecast Take care well done Kate.
Cultivating a fine crop of canes and string! I always say that composted beds must be the cat equivalent of super-luxury 4-layer super soft toilet paper. Mmmm Hmmm. Comfy on the bum! We don't have ANY squirrels here, they would be the red ones only (way too many hungry farm cats?). But there are racoons in the village...I hope they don't get as far as here! Waiting a couple of weeks before sowing seeds - I jumped the gun last year with my peppers and it didn't go well, had to resow.
Yeah the change in temperatures are seeing lots of new pests around here too. There are moles a few hundred metres from us but not seen them in the garden yet.
I have just discovered your channel after searching for some greenhouse tips as I am currently researching getting my first ever greenhouse. I am also in Scotland! In Ayrshire. Do you have any recommendations on where to go to see greenhouses before purchasing? I would rather see it in person before purchasing it online.
I guess it depends on the company. I know some of the big garden centres have some on display (like dobies) Some companies don’t have displays but might put you in touch with owners that let you visit.
Envy you the tarragon. I love tarragon, and had a nice Russian tarragon in a planter. But when my cat was a baby, I got rid of it, because it's toxic to cats. I suppose he'd be fine, he likes to hide in the alliums but doesn't chew them, same with the summer claytonia, so I suppose he'll leave it alone now he's a big boy!
oh that's horrible Karen :( Mine is a Rhino. They are more expensive than your average greenhouses, but to be honest, there's nothing average about them. I would defo say it's worth the time it took to save for it.
Do you guys spend a lot of time and effort into color-design in your flower beds, I fear I've got too many seeds of purple flowers and not much else. Eitherway, I know the bees will love em 😅
We wouldn’t say we spend a lot of time on it, but yeah we do think about things like colour and how plants will work together, think height at the back and short at the front. When we were knew we just grow everything we thought was pretty and over a few years ended up with a completely purple garden…. Now there tend to be more yellows and reds.
Lol, now imagine blocking out deer and rabbits. Fences everywhere. Recent unwanted visitor are voles. Never had them ever, but say goodbye to bulbs and other plants-hope they left. You asked what other channels are in Scotland and thought of one that popped up recently ‘Rewilding Jude’. A guy that moved there and bought a stone cottage and shows his daily life after his parents passed. Seems a lot of grandmas adopted him after his parents passed 🤔. It’s pretty odd how he has over 50K subs already. I’m an armchair traveler 😊. Spring thaw this week here 40sF/4+C🎉🎉. We are 15” down on snow so we need moisture.
Ha ha ha the fences keep the deer out and usually the rabbits too, except we had a wee issue for a few weeks back in autumn… hole in the fence. I was out dealing with traps for a week till we cleared them all back to their usual home 😁
@ oh and those rabbits know to sit still when your looking for them. We had 5 bunnies once and after we caught one we thought we were done-Ha! There were 4 more! The poor buggers got to fat to get back out of the garden fence-that’ll learn em 😄

Ours eat loads of our plants outdoors and indoors. Little gits!
my greenhouse is damaged beyond repair im in the central belt can I ask what make of greenhouse you have im looking to get a new one thank you 😞
oh that's horrible Karen :(
Mine is a Rhino.
What kind of apple trees do you have?
Two discoveries and a Katy
Fabulous trees
@ thanks
Eli, what's the deal with your sweatshirt? What's it mean?
It’s a shirt from a series of books I’m a fan off 😁
