    We opted to hike Turkey Foot & Mize Mill from the Sipsey Wilderness Picnic Area. The old bridge was damaged recently and cannot cross it. So we walked up and over the highway bridge and made our way down after the bridge on the righthand side to access the trail underneath the bridge. That way also avoids the rope climb down which some people have a hard time doing. The old car was pretty awesome to see. There isn't any cell service so download your maps prior. Alltrails is pretty acurate. Take a change of socks and shoes or plan on possibly getting your feet wet to cross and get closer to the falls. Very beautiful and short hike to both falls. Love the video! I definitely want to see more of Sipsey Wilderness & Bankhead National Forrest!

    The old bridge at the Sipsey Wilderness Parking area is out due to a massive tree that fell recently and is still out as off 3/17/23 You can still park there and cross over the highway bridge and take the trail that goes under the bridge. Slight scramble down but was doable for us 40somethin folks..lol Love the video footage! Bankhead is beautiful

      I saw pictures of it and can’t believe that happened. I hope they are going to rebuild the bridge but it will never be the same 😢

    My dad knows the forest pretty good and is a historian of that area. He told me that back in the day that car was used to run moonshine. One day the cops got after them and they wrecked and the car went into the hollow. They arrested they guys and took them to jail and no one ever came back to get the car out so its sat there for decades. May be true or may just be just a story but sounds cool anyway.

    Me and a buddy and our kids were down there last weekend. The bridge to the 2nd and 3rd water falls was close due to a massive tree laying across it and half of it nearly collapsed.

      Yeah that happened like 6 months ago. You can still get to them you just have to park at a different spot. If you use google maps you can look at Mize Mill and you should see on canal road another parking a lot. It’s very close to the falls just have to walk across the road.

      Hey, a question: did you do these in the order they appear in the video? Just thinking about the most efficient driving route from one to the other.

    Thanks for the video Austin. I live in Bham and I’m toying with starting my own youtube channel. Will have to plan a hike to these falls. I’m curious, are there any dispersed campsites at either falls?

    • @Outdoor.pixels
      @Outdoor.pixels  Год назад

      Awesome and you can camp anywhere the only place that has established campsites is brushy lake.

    Greetings Austin. New Subscriber. Wonderful Video on these falls. Someday I hope to venture down to Alabama from Tennessee to photograph some falls. Are you using the Sony to photograph with or just doing Videos with it?

    • @Outdoor.pixels
      @Outdoor.pixels  2 года назад

      Hey Ron! Thank you for subscribing and it just depends on the hike. If im doing a hard trail I will use it for both to save weight but if im doing something easy my main photo camera is the Sony a7Riii. It just has more megapixels and better dynamic range.
