I know this movie has a somewhat split opinion among the fanbase but SpaceGodzilla is such a threatening villian and his badassery makes up for the flaws imo.
This was actually the first Godzilla movie I ever watched so as crap as it is, I can never truly hate it. Loved watching you mock it though and the joke where Junior is being attacked and the dry delivery of telling Godzilla to not hurry as it's not like he's gonna die in the next movie made me laugh out loud. Great work.
I wouldn't say it's "crap" unless most of the older godzilla films are also "crap".
But junior lives?

This will always be my favorite Godzilla monster. Kiryu comes in a close second, though.

Well personally for me I don't think this movie was filler, I think it showed more of a relationship between godzilla and his son, and also introduced a pretty cool godzilla monster. And it also wasn't really that lazy with most of the effects and fights, since they have some of the best animation up to that point for the godzilla films.
Also since spacegodzilla is basically a godzilla clone, except with crystals, he wouldn't really ever flee from a fight.
Just like with burning godzilla and destoroyah, spacegodzilla never would quit until his body no longer allowed himself to continue. Which is in line with godzilla's characteristics, so I think if anything I think it was a good thing and made the scene of spacegodzilla exploding feel more earned, at least in my opinion.
Also I almost forgot, but I think that the monsters using the beams is a lot better than what most of the showa era did, where they were kind of fighting but not really fighting, and they were just jumping around and not doing anything, like with most of the fight between ghidorah, godzilla, rodan, and mothra in one of the first ghidorah movies.
So I'd much rather have "beams" than have that, especially since the lasers look pretty cool and are used logically most of the time, since if you had a laser blaster, you would logically use it instead of going in and fighting hand to hand, which is what godzilla actually does.
He shoots his atomic breath and then if it doesn't work he goes in close and tries to do hand to hand combat.
But thats just my opinion.
Besides that, Awesome review, I could tell it took a lot of work to make (since I do reviews myself) so awesome job and can't wait to see the next ones.
to me seemed less like "guess i;ll die" and more so "if i'm going down, i'm going down swinging!"

nice little detail I noticed was that the mind control bullet thing they shoot into Godzilla's neck looked like the mind control disruption device they shoot titanosarus with in terror of mechagodzilla
I like this movie and I think it shows Godzilla and his son’s relationship in this movie. That Godzilla will do anything to protect his or save his son from a threat. Yeah, I do get some parts of this movie, that doesn’t make sense, but if this movie just focus on Godzilla and his son, I think it really be a amazing movie. There’s some parts that made laugh in this movie.
Seriously, what was the point of that scene starting at 6:28!?
This movie exists just to get you to the next one which is so classic and a favorite. Bring on Destroya.

No kidding... Godzilla's Arrival at the beach is my favorite part of this movie. It's very rare to get such a clear SIZE PROSPECTIVE shot of Godzilla, especially on a SUNNY DAY. Also... Mikki is always nice to see even if she doesn't do much. Here she's presented for the first time as a fully grown adult. Otherwise this is one of my least favorite Godzilla movies because it's as bad as one of the crappier Shows films but without the CAMPY CHARM! Also... Also... 'SPACE GODZILLA'?!!
At least Godzilla stopped using his beam entirely in his third fight against Kong.

While Little Godzilla is cute, he doesn’t really fit in the dark and more serious Heisei series.

That suit was supposed to be for a kids show but it got canceled. SO Toho "thought".....it would be a good idea to have this suit in this film instead. Dumbasses.......
Considering what we COULD Have had instead, I think this movie should have been scrapped so Godzilla vs. GHOST Godzilla could exist.
I like spaceGodzilla staying and fighting it’s a way of showing him standing his ground even when he’s completely powerless something the real Godzilla would do.

Well it’s was because Godzilla versus Mechagodzilla two were supposed to be the last Godzilla film. and they were just gonna wait for the American film to Gain all the success, but when it wasn’t approved they were like “OK we got to make another film to keep the king alive”.
Mogura splitting into two halves is kind of similar to the broken tumbler batmobile splitting to release the bat pod.
The reason , the guy wanted to shoot godzilla in the armpits is because the armpits are a very blood supplied area and if you get stabbed there you would die of blood loss.

Personally I still think it's the least in the Heisei Era - certainly not the worst Godzilla film ever, they did bring back Moguera from THE MYSTERIANS, SpaceGodzilla is very memorable and fierce, and the music is pretty damn good given that original composer Akira Ifukube took a coffee break at this point and they needed someone to replace him temporarily - but it's just a bunch of random elements that seemed to be thrown in to ensure that the next G entry was feature length and wanted to be more than merely just another G film at a time when Toho realized it could only go so far in this cycle before finally calling it quits with the next entry. It also felt longer than it needed to be - certainly the longest entry in the Heisei Era - and Godzilla again seemed to be pushed to the side like he was in GODZILLA VS. MOTHRA, finally coming into his own when the plot needed him to. Ironically, Toho would definitely redeem themselves with the last film in the Heisei Era.

MOGUERA is awesome and one of my favorite mechas in the franchise.
I agree, he is pretty cool with him basically being the only mecha to be an actual robot and not try to copy living creatures by having a face and a roar, like mechagodzilla from the showa era to the 2021 mechagodzilla did, or even mechani-kong. He was basically the first mecha that was made for mobility and effectiveness and not much else.
i don't feel that godzilla vs kong overused the atomic breath, least not in the fights

I can only assume the mantle for worst Heisei Godzilla movie now goes to Godzilla vs. Mothra. If so, do you see Godzilla vs. Mothra as a worse movie or do you just not hate Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla as much? I'm curious.
