It’s can’t wait to try one of the 87’s….I have a Full Shred in my Charvel DK24 that I am wanting to replace…I do like the Full Shred,but I find it a bit scooped…The 87 sounds like it has more mids in comparison…..Great Job!!
These sound really good, like the 'mixed' sound of 80s records, as opposed to the 'raw' sound. It would be helpful to me to hear them back to back with something like a Seymour Duncan JB in a similar guitar to compare. 🤔
I like the Alnico 4 pickup but I sincerely prefer an alnico IV more and it’s properly pronounced like “ivy” bruh! 🥸 Kidding! I like them! Honestly, I think I prefer what’s going on with the neck pickup (1988) because it sounds great with the cleans. They sound good and I’m happy for you!
Alnico 4 magnet compared to alnico 5 in the diver. Basically more mids and low end compared to those. A bit more clarity overall as well. They're more articulate for leads and tighter for plam mutes etc.

I mean.... they sound like pickups. Glad you like em, but I still don't get dropping the kinda coin these go for when I can get a set of PAF 57 style humbuckers for $30-40. Or even similar output sets also for $30-40. I just have not heard a significant difference, if any at all, between cheapos, mid price and spendy (Fishman for example) pickups. What am I missing here? Not being completely snarky, just want to know what I am not hearing. also, what significance does the braided cable bring to the table?
I mean these are USA handwound pickups with excellent feel, note seperation and clarity. $30 pickups sound like thin cheap crap compared to these. They also have way more output and sustain vs. a traditional low output cheap paf pickup. Pickups are also hard to demo since you can't really hear before and after. But trust me these are on a totally different level. Braided cable makes it more of a true 80s style pickup, its thicker and brings more clarity in the signal as well. Fish mans for example are thin and lifeless sounding. No lows too much highs and not enough mids which is the polar opposite of what you want from a pickup. Every person i know thats had fishman hate them with a passion. Myself included. If you don't like these then you don't like them. They aren't for everyone. Its all good dude.
