Fall in the PNW... There can't be a prettier, or more interesting place to be outdoors... Anywhere! Lol! Damn dudes! Epic adventure! Thanks for takin us along! TLDR!!! Lol! Years ago, a group of dudes from all over the US would get done in AK chasing silvers and giant rainbows with surface flies and "weird" things! Lol! For 2 weeks anywhere from 3 or 4 to as many as a dozen of us would hunt fish and fur out on th eeast side of OR and WA state! None of us knew anything about anything, we just wanted to have a ridiculous amount of fun before the winter doldrums took over for a lot of those cats! But the rivers, the fish, the range and the big game just seemed to be "more attainable" for some reason! That feeling has persisted, and I think it has a lot to do with the attitude the general terrain give us. These jaunts into the relative unknown(to me) are inspiring and motivating! Go chase those ruddy, far east summers on top, and delicious deer or elk down in the draws!
Happy to help you identify edible mushrooms anytime my fellow mushroom hunter! 🤓🍄🟫 Keep your eyes sharpened for the “shrimp” Russula(Russula xerampelina) the cap is more purplish with the stems and gills being yellow or off-white. It also has a distinct seafood smell!
That was the eye of round that you cut off the bottom round. Next time you should save the Tri tip and flat irons off your deer. They will be you’re new favorite
"I think that's edible"!! Sounds like scary words! HAAA Jordan! When you handed the first mushroom bite to your friend,,, you should of asked if HE WAS FEELING DIZZY or Seeing spots yet?? And Ok we should be good!! Great Episode! Peace 🕊️☮️😎🤟🏼🎸
Hay Jordan. When your going. Too do turkey hunting video hunt and cooking turkey burger mayonnaise tomato cheese pickles onions looking at the comments Jordan ❤❤❤❤
a couple of those mushrooms popped up in the gravel driveway under some pine trees. i saw black stuff coming out of it 2 days later. quick harvest window
I gotta say im impressed with how ya cut up ur deer. Id be willing to teach ya some tips n tricks ive learned over the last 20 year's being a butcher. 15years in custom butcher shops. One of the shops we would process around 300 to 500 elk, deer, moose, and some black bears. Ontop of 52head of beef a week plus 30 to 40 hogs a week. Anything i can do to help let me know. Id like to help anyone out that needs it.
I am too! I've only ever sliced up my own or for big game clients in AK and friends where ever. Probably 52 animals total... In 20 years! Lol! This is actually a neat idea for a series of videos on this channel, and even the ADX main channel too! I used to cut fish at Tony's Smokehouse and for the Fish Market too. And like you, I picked up a lot of little tips and tricks for both speed, and efficiency as well as for yield and even presentation! And when old school forum members used to come in, I'd do demos if folks asked! Fish are easy compared to larger animals though. So having a video series that highlights common post-harvest and processing practices would be SWEET! I have bought portions of beef with friends, and while doing the cutting and packing is super rad and rewarding... Not really knowing where to begin, or even if we left something particular behind is disheartening. And I get where hiring a pro is clearly the answer... I'm still interested in the process though! Lol!
@rvdeddrift id love to be able to break a elk or deer down with anyone that wants to learn. I also have done alot of smoking and curing at those custom shops. Got to be the first one to use the brand new $100,000 double truck smoker! I could fit almost 480slabs of bacon in that thing at a time! So I got tons of tips n tricks when it come to that side as well. Artisan butchers are a dying breed. 90%of grocery store but butchers couldn't break a beef down to save there life.
Another good show. You always make me laugh. Last show you looked tired. To be expected, traveling around the countryside and sleeping away from home. Enjoyed your deer cutting techniques. Looked very, eat-able to me. Keep up the amazing work.
Matsu's are high in elevation 2k-5k ft and easily identifiable by their brown spotting on cap and stipe and rounded caps, unlike the Russula brevipes which has a dip in the center of the cap..
