    Great video. One blooper, you mentioned to make sure the halyard is released when I think you meant to say the mainsheet, a jammed sheet might encourage the boat to continue its sailing adventure without us :)
    A top mast float may help prevent a turtle, some folks tie an empty sealed milk jug or similar. I like that you showed that while things can happen quickly, they don't have to. Take a second to gather wits Getting back on the boat can be a challenge, if a skipper can't get over the side then they might try the stern. And if those attempts fail and fatigue sets in, if the water is warm enough and shore not too far away, grab the sheet, hang on to the stern and sail back to shore.

      You are correct about meaning to say the "mainsheet". Thank you. I did do a video about falling off, and tested doing so with the mainsheet still jammed. Here's the link: ruclips.net/video/OvQV6lBfNRY/видео.html I've haven't tried a top mast float, but will likely demo that at some point...probably this summer.

      Just purchased an old Sailfish Alcort from a neighbor garage sale. Stored inside most its life in excellent condition. Love these informative videos as I have never realized my dream of sailing at 53 years old

    Great tips! I’ve been sailing for a couple of years and have a proficient understanding of sunfish and bought my own. That being said, I have been extremely nervous to take it out on my own. Could you do a video on how to properly put the mast up/rigging? Maybe even how you transport yours? I feel comfortable once im on the water it’s just a matter of getting there. Also, you mentioned that your daggerboard is tied in, could you show that in more detail as well? Sorry if this is a lot your videos are the first that I’ve really understood!

      Absolutely. I generally wear the same gear whether it's crossing 26 miles to an island on Lake Superior or at a smaller local lake. Then I don't have to question if I have what I need in case something goes wrong. Thanks for watching. @@AdventuresInReach Thanks brother, appreciated! I have a Dolphin SR here in W Texas, when the wind blows it is a lot of fun, I wish there were bigger lakes around here but it is what it is. That lake you go sailing looks pretty big. I like your videos! 🤙

    Thanks for the video... very helpful. Question: How do you connect your bungee cord that I see across the opening of the cubby? I currently have a loose water bottle and small paddle that I would like to tie on to something.

    • @AdventuresInReach
      @AdventuresInReach  3 года назад +2

      That bungee is attached to 2 hooks that I installed into the back wall of the cockpit. I knot that some people are against drilling extra holes into the interior of the boat, so if you simply want to attach a water bottle I would instead recommend drilling a hole through the fiberglass in the front or back of the lip at the top of the cockpit. You then just tie a loop of rope through, hang a carabiner, and clip the bottle in that way. You could even just tie the paddle to that hole or loop as well. I did this fore and aft and clip in my water bottle and a drybag when I'm camping with my Sunfish.

    Would you know where I can pick up the brass plug for the drain plug on the top of my boat? I’ve had it a couple of days just trying to get it in working order before I take it out.

    • @AdventuresInReach
      @AdventuresInReach  Год назад

      Sunfish Direct and Laser Performance should have that part, although I believe the last ones I"ve seen being sold were plastic. Mine was missing when I got my boat and I just replaced it with a stainless steel bolt and washer with a rubber washer underneath.
