  • Using your BMW Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle as efficiently as possible is quite easy. Make sure you charge your BMW as often as possible and that your vehicle is preconditioned before starting your journey. These functions can also be controlled via the BMW Connected App. In BMWs with Operating System 7, the most efficient way of driving is in HYBRID ECO PRO Mode.
Check out the other videos in the BMW How-To Series and be sure to leave us your feedback in the comments below.
The BMW Driver's Guide app specifically describes the equipment and functions included in the vehicle. The Owner's Handbook is available as an app in many countries. You will find further information on the Internet at: www.bmw.com/bmw_drivers_guide

Very intriguing to try the pre-conditioning feature while charging to save battery! Are you able to use the 'pre-condition tip' on a standard build M-Sport or do you need something like the 'Comfort Package' to be able to do this?

  • @confinez555

In my 330e F30. If you need high effeciency, saving most of fuel consumption. All you can do is to put it in Sport Mode. In order to make it hybrid. Because in comfort and eco pro it just waste all of the electric and runs out so fast. And i also finds out that auto e drive is best for long commute. The save battery mode is actually useless (Fuel runs out really fast especially in traffic) Good thing BMW improves their edrive system. But sad for me F30 isnt up to this option. Hope this will be the lesson they learned. Electric is a new thing, Always research first before you think of an driving system.

If only... got my brand new 2020 BMW 530e 3 weeks ago and connected drive won't work (android app), can't send anything to the car. Also it pings every day that the break fluid had to be changed December 2001, 18 years before the car was manufactured... BMW, great car, horrible software... it would have been even better if you could define a max speed for full electric. Now the car just consumes all the electric power it has available without considering any trip you make shortly after. Yes, it will recharge in hybrid mode to anticipate for any villages or towns you will cross , but it's so INEFFICIENT.
If I could just say = drive electric until 60km/u, I would really get the best of both worlds. Low emission and fuel consumption in cities/villages and low battery consumption when cruising at high speed

    I have a 2017 BMW X5 eDrive hybrid and I don't like it.
The controls for electric drive are not intuitive and no settings for it are evident in the displays. It changes from electric drive to engine drive just over 60 km/h and it is not evident how to change it back to e drive other than by driving more slowly for a while. Controls and settings are poorly designed.
Nothing about the drive change is intuitive nor is the information display sufficiently informative.
I have also experienced 2 occasions when the battery did not charge despite being plugged in and electrically mains powered. This makes me lack confidence of having a full charge after overnight charging.
There have also been problems with the air suspension that put it out of service for a few days.
Overall my experience is negative to the extent I would not buy a BMW EV in the future.

I own a F30 330e, and i like it. But i wish it the software wasn't as dumb as it is.
    1. "Comfort" should have turned it into regular hybrid where the engine starts up like in a Prius, not just drain the battery until its empty.
    2. Sport mode should have had a timer of 10 seconds before it turns off the engine when stopped, that it has to turn off and on the engine all the time when stopped is a massive waste of fuel and time and puts WAY more strain on the motor than what's necessary.
    3. The BMW app is pure garbage, it looks esthetically okay but it takes up to 30 seconds for the car to react to commends, more than likely because the cars used 3G until 2021 and sometimes the app just claims the car cant be reached.
I just dont understand how someone can screw up so much software wise, people who made these first PHEVs haven't used their brain at all.

I have this car. It cost £7 to charge to full and runs out in about 35 mins of driving not worth the time to charge since you could just put that £7 in petrol instead and now your car is away from home so after charging you need to go retrieve it because it will continue to charge you even after the battery is full.I charge my car once a month just to keep up battery health and just drive on the petrol which also runs out quick because of the battery weight. I would say don’t get this car unless you have a home charger and driveway cause then it cost about £2.50 to charge and you’ll just charge it every night to make a decent saving overtime. Still nothing to write home about. I will be selling it soon lol Volvo xc90 incoming
