4K frame size is 8.29 Mpixels. At RUclips’s standard 45Mbps compression for 4K video, and 1.63MB per megapixel-second, that’s 1.63 x 8.29 which is 13.5MB of video per second. 10 hours is 36,000 seconds, which means that this footage would be, AT MINIMUM, 486GB with RUclips’s compression, assuming he uploaded the whole thing. The raw digital data, uncompressed, is the frame size times color density. Assuming 24 bit RGB, that’s 3840 x 2160 x 24, which is 24.88MB of data per frame. 36,000 seconds times 60 frames equals 2,160,000 frames of video. Multiply that by 24.88 and you get 53.7408 TB. Really good video. Got a 12 mini last Friday and battery life is fine, not as long as my old 11 but pleasantly surprised how close it is given how much smaller and lighter the 12 mini is.
Just a quick recommendation: how about include the google maps & spotify/apple music as part of your tests, that would make even more realistic daily usage scenario. Great videos tho, keep it up!
Insert sim cards and rerun the test if you can. You'll find astonishingly low results cause you have no idea how much mobile network eats up the battery. That's why most reviewers have complained about poor battery life on the mini.
Moin Uddin lol well it’s true believe it or not. I’ve been using Apple’s smart data mode 5g so it uses it whenever it doesn’t think it’ll affect the battery that much, which has been most of the time
I've had my Mini 12 activated since Friday afternoon and the battery life seems to be roughly the same as my XR which has 100 percent battery health after 16 months of use
I wish my se had a better battery. Honestly, I wanted the 12 mini but I found the SE 2 on sale for 250 from the apple website on thanksgiving and I could not resist such a great deal. I am considering to wait for the next se which is probably coming out in 2-5 years from now or I would get from the mini lineup that apple will probably offer.
Your test was really faithful and amazing! The best realistic one I've seen so far on these devices. You really checked the battery health and matched the brighteness on all of them before making that battery comparison. I have an Iphone 11 still working as good as new but the device is too heavy and not practical for me so I'm looking for a more compact option. I'm a heavy user when it comes to internet and social media, but I dont really do games on my phone (I have a pc for that). Your test will really help me choose between the mini and the SE, thank you!💖
This is an outstanding video review. The method of comparing battery life with actual task scenarios is exactly what I was looking for. In addition, the phones used for comparison turned out to be the three models I am interested in. Great job!
I'm still rockin' an almost 5 year old Sony Xperia X Compact with a 3000mAh battery. It's basically the same dimensions as the 12 mini but a bit thicker. I'd upgrade to a thick 3000mAh iPhone mini in a heartbeat
@@ryannnftw my mini is working fine. 30 min of GPS consumes about 12%. But just checking on social media once in a while and doing some web searching costumes about %50 in a day. It’s definitely a step up from two hours. Having phone on dark mode helps save battery too. Honestly if you’re full on watching a RUclips video while doing some other small tasks I would only expect a little over 6 hours of battery. Reviewers say about 8 but I feel more like 6.5. I thought it was going to die on me within two hours due to the commentary by other people but it really isn’t that bad. I’m loving the size.
Thank you so much...this is more heavy than actual usage and still the battery lasts so good for 12 mini. I am not gonna be bothred by some reviews who have talked negative about 12 mini's battery life. Compact phones will make a comeback !!!
I got the iPhone SE as a gift for being sober 140 days. At 157 today. Love the phone. Average about 7 hours screen on time. At light to moderate use. Great video. Now subbed
Thank you for this video! I'm happy with my SE and 6h07m because it costs 515€ and the 12 Mini costs 830€ thats a 300€ gap. And BTW 12 mini 2.227 mAh, iPhone SE 2020 1821 mAh = 406 mAh Gap.
hey on a lighter note you stole my words...lol that's what i was thinking and about to say ...yes battery comparison is a bit unfair for SE 2020 as it has 1821 mAh battery and it is doing pretty good job with that range of battery....SE all the way
7:50 Actually, iPhone 12 lasted just above 15% longer than the mini, not 30% - (see 6:40 moment, but remember that the battery percentages of 12 and 12 mini can't be compared with SE 2020!) I guess you got distracted by the 30% between SE 2020 and mini - (but actually you got it wrong there too, the mini lasted 41.41% longer than the SE 2020). At moment 5:32 you can see that 12 mini still has 32% battery but...actually lasted longer than that: SE 2020 = 6 h and 7 min. = 367 minutes; 12 mini = 8 h and 39 min. = 519 minutes (41.41% longer than SE 2020); 12 = 9 h and 57 min. = 597 minutes (15% longer than 12 mini).
GREAT video showing the elapsed time and real world battery life! I have the iPhone SE 2020 and it only lasts me 1/2 day just like this shows, and that's a disappointment. It was a replacement for my iPhone SE 1st Gen which was actually still getting a 1/2 day on battery when I switched to the new SE! Though I'd like the size of the 12 mini, I'm yearning for the full-day battery of the 12. Thanks for helping me decide based on real world usage. Great job.
Simplely because the bigger a android battery is and the more people use their phone and get addicted to it but hey a phone is made for texting and have some calls why not some internet. For those who just use their phone for "in case I need it", they won't mind buying this phone. I personally regret DAS are a bit high...
I have a 2020 SE and on the occasions I go out of my house it lasts easily a day. When I stay all day at home it lasts 1.5+ days (that's 100% - 20%) So yeah, currently not a problem for me, but we'll see after pandemic season is over.
For the long run, iPhone 12 looks like the best among the entire 2020 iPhones lineup. Camera that most people use is there in it and now even the display has been bumped up to OLED.
Incredibly timely and helpful comparison. So the Mini gets about 13% less battery life than the standard 12 by this test. Seems like a very reasonable tradeoff.
on my iphone 12 pro i did my own little test. i had 21hours of stand by and 7hrs 12min of on screen time with 22% of battery left. so my phone lasted 28 hours before i recharged agian and i still had 22% of battery left. i did not want to make it go to 0 since its my brand new phone but the way i see it your test was perfect
I'm looking at getting the 12 mini and hearing people complain about the battery life being bad, yet you just proved that gets about 8 hours which is pretty good to be honest. But I think it always comes down to what you're going to use the phone for.
These tests should be done in a taxi while roaming around the city without WiFi. Locating the LTE / 5G signal will consume maximum battery , or at least should be done away from Wifi , considering most are commuters travelling between home n office with 9-10 hours spent without WiFi signal. But thank you for performing these tests, it takes lot of efforts. Appreciate your efforts n providing the stats.
Keep in mind these phones actually have longer battery life in day to day use for most people since he turned Blu Tooth and Location On. Those are two features that you always want to have Off unless you're using them at that very moment because they're 2 things that drain your battery a lot and turning them off greatly increases battery life.
Hi, mine 12 mini similar. Normal usage: messenger, whatsapp, instagram, facebook, phone calls etc and it usually drains the battery to 5%-10% level after 5-6 hours of screen on. I think loud speakers, calling with loud speaker, watching videos and listetning music without headphones drain the battery the most. Any opinions???
The results are staggering, I have seen different reviews and battery tests suggesting much less capable batteries on all three phones however... Where do you think the difference lies? Also, if you were to use it on a regular day with 4G enabled, how much do you think this would influence battery life? I have only heard the SE's battery to be unusable for a medium to heavier user, how do you think the 12 Mini would fair in this regard? Once again great video and very informative
Im gonna guess here but I presume that both the 12 and the 12 mini battery performance is worse by an hour or even 2, if not more, because some reviewers used 5g exclusively. 5g however is a gimmick right now and should not really be used.

I could go 2 full days but I’ll need it charged before work so I’ll charge it while I sleep today. It only lost 8% while I slept the other day during the 7hrs. I upgraded from the OG SE where the battery was 83% capacity and would lose 15% if I used Snapchat filters for a few minutes 😆.

so this is quite different from a normal use case, i'd say you can definitely shave off ¼ or ⅓ of SOT in normal use cases
@@neues3691 I do not have a mini for obvious reasons but I do have a Pixel 5 and that does not have the extraordinary battery life some creator's claim. Using it little now (returned to S20U) but just checked and it lost 44% in 37h with 6 mins SOT, that is not great! My Pixel 4XL was much better on standby. Doing very basic stuff, it is good, but push it and it does not do well.
@@neues3691 Actually I tested overnight what phone kills more apps, and the Pixel 5 is much worse, just checked and it had closed all but 4 apps from the previous evening! My iPhone kept about 50%, 10 out of 20!
So glad I waited for the mini! I really missed this size, and haven't compromised much at all.
Totally impassive with my 12 mini, no battery issue whatsoever! Love it!
If you Love it, then you're not impassive
This is the exact comparison I was looking for , Thank you so much 😊
This should have a lot of views! I don't think anyone will spend a lot of time on their phone. If they are so dissapointed with the battery life might as well get the regular 12 or pro max. Appreciate your hardwork on putting this test and video!
Really good video. Got a 12 mini last Friday and battery life is fine, not as long as my old 11 but pleasantly surprised how close it is given how much smaller and lighter the 12 mini is.
I was bit concerned about 12 mini battery. But after seeing this video. I ordered 12 mini. Brilliant work. thanks for the video bro
Congrats, which color?
Dude really got committed into making this video
Just a quick recommendation: how about include the google maps & spotify/apple music as part of your tests, that would make even more realistic daily usage scenario. Great videos tho, keep it up!
Insert sim cards and rerun the test if you can. You'll find astonishingly low results cause you have no idea how much mobile network eats up the battery. That's why most reviewers have complained about poor battery life on the mini.
Exactly.
You nailed it. There is nothing real about this test.
That’s actually not true, I have the 12 mini and use it with 5g on and it always lasts me 8-9 hours
@@iammaleo logically not possible.
Moin Uddin lol well it’s true believe it or not. I’ve been using Apple’s smart data mode 5g so it uses it whenever it doesn’t think it’ll affect the battery that much, which has been most of the time
I love my 12 mini, my battery lasts all day. Im not on my phone 24/7 so thats a plus.
i really like your videos
I've had my Mini 12 activated since Friday afternoon and the battery life seems to be roughly the same as my XR which has 100 percent battery health after 16 months of use
How did you maintain 100% battery health for 16 months?
Are you having any touch issues on the lock screen when using a case and glass screen protector at the same time?
How did you maintain 100% Battery Health?
Impossible
I mostly used my phone for photo taking, I used other devices with larger screens for other things. Also I used a cellular connected watch for runs
*NOPE YOUR "STOPWATCH" PHONE WON IT*
Th true
The thing is. That's a pixel 4a. And it literally would have beaten them if it was in the test lol.
I love standby test, i was worried about %5 drain battery last night, now i know it is normal, good job man
If the SE has better battery life than my iPhone X, that’s all I care about.
but it doesnt

Great job!
imagine a 3000mAh battery on the mini, Apple come on it's easy!
I'm still rockin' an almost 5 year old Sony Xperia X Compact with a 3000mAh battery. It's basically the same dimensions as the 12 mini but a bit thicker. I'd upgrade to a thick 3000mAh iPhone mini in a heartbeat
Thanks for this. I get a bit of battery OCD whenever i get a new phone and was regretting my choice in the mini. This cured it so thanks again
So glad I moved on from the the se2! Horrid battery. Enjoying the Mini.
How has the mini been? I plan on upgrading to it from my 6s which can barely last 2 hours lol
So is it better battery than the SE? I have an SE and that’s the only reason I’d switch to the mini
@EE no I have the SE2
@@yetitheeduardo still better. Battery size is bigger. And from the video I can see it’s better too.

Thank you for this battery test. I was worried that the 12 mini would have bad battery life but this test has allayed my fears. Thanks again.
Thank you for this video!
I'm happy with my SE and 6h07m because it costs 515€ and the 12 Mini costs 830€ thats a 300€ gap. And BTW 12 mini 2.227 mAh, iPhone SE 2020 1821 mAh = 406 mAh Gap.
hey on a lighter note you stole my words...lol that's what i was thinking and about to say ...yes battery comparison is a bit unfair for SE 2020 as it has 1821 mAh battery and it is doing pretty good job with that range of battery....SE all the way
I just got the 12 pro max. Regular usage- RUclips, TikTok, phone calls, text, Social media I had 29% battery after 28 hrs of usage one one charge.
One of the best battery test videos I've ever seen!
7:50 Actually, iPhone 12 lasted just above 15% longer than the mini, not 30% - (see 6:40 moment, but remember that the battery percentages of 12 and 12 mini can't be compared with SE 2020!)
I guess you got distracted by the 30% between SE 2020 and mini - (but actually you got it wrong there too, the mini lasted 41.41% longer than the SE 2020). At moment 5:32 you can see that 12 mini still has 32% battery but...actually lasted longer than that:
SE 2020 = 6 h and 7 min. = 367 minutes;
12 mini = 8 h and 39 min. = 519 minutes (41.41% longer than SE 2020);
12 = 9 h and 57 min. = 597 minutes (15% longer than 12 mini).
This is the review I really wanted to see! Great!
Thanks for the review ! And what are the conditions ? Was there a cellular connection? Lte/5G or 3G ? Was disconnected ? only wifi ?
Oh man, now I’m thinking of upgrading from SE to 12 Mini

@@SG_CAD indeed! I lobe mine! 🤩
I did. From the SE2020 to the Mini. A much better phone. Flagship !
Ya!
Great job.
I don't understand how are so many reviewers disappointed by the battery life xd. Granted it is not as big as the 12. But 8h30m is extremely good too.
Simplely because the bigger a android battery is and the more people use their phone and get addicted to it but hey a phone is made for texting and have some calls why not some internet. For those who just use their phone for "in case I need it", they won't mind buying this phone. I personally regret DAS are a bit high...
I just got the 12 two weeks ago all I gotta say is I haven’t had to charge my phone in two days and I use it quiet a bit
I have a 2020 SE and on the occasions I go out of my house it lasts easily a day.
When I stay all day at home it lasts 1.5+ days (that's 100% - 20%)
So yeah, currently not a problem for me, but we'll see after pandemic season is over.
Do use your brother!
I'm really confused! Some people are saying the 12mini lasts barely 4 Hours. But this video shows around 7 hours.
What to believe exactly?
Not bad for the Mini, and I chose the Mini. Thanks for the great review!
Hows the mini works after 4 months?
4:52 scared the shit outta me
your home earthquake
on my iphone 12 pro i did my own little test. i had 21hours of stand by and 7hrs 12min of on screen time with 22% of battery left. so my phone lasted 28 hours before i recharged agian and i still had 22% of battery left. i did not want to make it go to 0 since its my brand new phone but the way i see it your test was perfect
Most german users have no need for 5G yet (coverage not that good yet), and thus will simply deactivate that = more battery life.
Keep in mind these phones actually have longer battery life in day to day use for most people since he turned Blu Tooth and Location On. Those are two features that you always want to have Off unless you're using them at that very moment because they're 2 things that drain your battery a lot and turning them off greatly increases battery life.
I have the 12 mini. I was shocked he managed to get 8 hours on it! Mine dies after about 5 hours screen on time and a lot of standby time.
I bought the 12 mini, your tests show that it is not that far behind the 12, others reported only 5-6 hour on mini. I like the smaller screen.
30% is a big difference though. I still prefer the mini.
On your video SE looks very blurry - is that camera or it is that noticeable difference when it goes for screen ?
Tip: when titling any video and/or description "iPhone 12 Mini vs iPhone 12 vs iPhone SE" have them on screen in that same order.
If the newest ones are first in the title for SEO reasons, display them in that order.
I'm going to upgrade to iPhone 12 mini from s10 next year.

Damn, this is a good test! Respect, dude.
Great video! How's the battery life compared to the regular XS?
Would have been cool to see screen off time for like an hour or 2 on Spotify streaming music but still a great video
Amazing job comparing the battery life! Thank you!
This is slightly confusing. Some reviewers are getting barely 6h Screen on time with the 12 mini, and some are getting over 8h
I have the mini.. I fully charged my Mini by 3pm Sunday and here it is at 6am Tuesday morning and I have 29% battery left.
12 mini amazing top🔥🔥🔥
This battery life is really accurate for SE 2020 so I would assume it is for 12 mini and 12. Great work!
Why SE lost %10 battery at night, it is interesting. I want to buy SE but I am not sure about battery. The Phone is very cool, small, fast but what about the battery?
