- this is a video I filmed in July from one of the few days I fished this summer, I figured I could make a gimmicky video comparing the 6" vs 4" gulps but I gave up on that quick... it turned into a somewhat interesting day, at least the ultralight porgy fishing was interesting enough… as a philadelphian I was somewhat into the porgies the first several times I caught them.. they do put up a respectable fight especially on ultralight and are somewhat willing to hit a jig. Not a stellar day of fishing but I did enjoy the cool weather and clean waters of New England. I apologize for the lack of videos lately… I should have a couple more videos to come…

I`ve learned over the years the bigger the bait the bigger the fish , stopped using minnows started using finger mullet ... went from catchin 10 inch flounder to catching 16 or 20 inch fish. best bait is a strip of flounder belly.

Stripers are like stray cats under those docks, pro tip - they eat procuitto and provolone that people throw off the sailboats when cocktail hour is over

I rarely harvest fish but the last striper that I did keep had a 13” scup in his gut, the striper was 36”, I’m surprised you didn’t try to catch them stripers, it’s good to see your back in action

Buy in bulk and seperate into peanutbutter jars also get a syringe and inject into other soft plastics that are cheaper or are stronger really helps keep the cost down

Beer battered porgy is pretty pretty good... had it 1st time last year after a black sea bass trip. G
Never tried fishing for porgies with anything except clam and bloodworms. A friend of mine swears using a diamond jig for big porgies.

I've always just assumed you're not allowed to fish near any of the Jersey docks. Is there any good way of knowing before I drive there which ones actually allow fishing? I can find fishing piers, but not sure how to find fishable docks.
