Elvis loved ballads but understood what got him on the radio. Loved this recap and the fact that you just brought your perspective after more than a year of exploring 50s music. Great work on this!
this was fantastic you did a great job you did miss milton berle & his tupelo homecoming where he got the key to the city & parade though but i loved this thank you xx
@@zakkthrowback i know 😭 no biggie but i was hoping you were going to do it...we actually still have stuff you missed from milton berle & ed sullivan shows and he sang peace in valley on ed sullivan it was the last song he sang on sullivan so you did hear it before the xmas album:)
I really appreciate your content, and deep dive in Elvis history & songs. We all have our favourites. Sometimes they change over the years. At least for me 😊 Been a fan since I was 8 years old. Known as the "Elvis girl" in my school. Wasn't so common to listen to Elvis back then. At least not as a kid in Sweden in the 80s. The benefits of RUclips, discover artists from the past ❤❤❤
Very nicely done, Zakk. I am sure that everyone is going to enjoy this, as I have done. You are always entertaining. I think Elvis would have approved. I hope you React to Elvis’ first interview on his return from the army in 1960. It will show you where his head & heart are at. And then I hope you React to Elvis on the Frank Sinatra Show. Frank paid a Huge amount of money to get Elvis, & you will see Elvis singing two great songs, plus he does a duet (of sorts) with Frank. Great job, Zakk. I am really enjoying your videos.
although the part that he said that Sam had Elvis come in for an audition BEFORE he told Scotty to call him is hogwash. (a story Sam MADE UP later. to cover the fact that he had no interest in Elvis ) the fact is Sam never laid eyes on Elvis before Marriam gave Scotty Elvis's number and Elvis came to Scotty's house.
Thank you Zack.. for the great posts. You do such a great job. I wanna see you doing a Television gig someday. You have the intelligence..personality and the voice.. Keep those Elvis videos coming !!
This is a great video. Love the Elvis history of the 50’s. Music appreciation is subjective so we all have our preferences and it’s silly for people to criticize others’ favorites
this should have way more views zakk! i hope all your shorts aren't getting your long form vids buried in the algorithm because i know that has happened to a lot of creators that started to pump out shorts.. because the views on this should be up there along with your other view counts related to elvis
Zakk, you didn't tell me anything I didn't already know. And I watched the entire video. That's a huge compliment. That's how good it is. Great job. Well crafted. You've developed a style. I am surprised that you ranked Gold Records Volume II that low. I've watched that review a couple times. I thought you loved that album. It's one of Elvis' career best IMO. Enjoyable video.

Love this but you will never know how his life changes and the bad side of fame until you see the short Doc, "Elvis Presley and The Black Community". You have no idea of how segregated the 50's were. Also talking about his army service react to his " Post Army Interview1960 at Graceland. He looks like a freaking God fresh off the train. Love it. Thanks Zakk maybe you can see "Wild in the Country". Or " Flaming Star". You rock man. Thanks
there are much better docs concerning elvis & the black community im always kinda baffled why so many are so stuck on that one its an ok fan made piece edited together from a doc and i do believe zakk has perfectly good handle on what elvis faced in segregated america at the time why would you assume he doesn't after watching this video?
Because I lived it, no white stations would play black music till he came on the scene. He was an advocate for black artist. I am 80 and I am tired of the insinuations that he was a racist. He grew up with black people. Did you live in the 50's.?
@@BetsyJonex-f6v ive been a fan since 1968 & am well aware of elvis history & what it was like living in segregated america i went through school during segregation and have a great understanding of it i also do know how integral elvis was in breaking down racial barriers in music but i do not think the video elvis & the black community does a good job at really examining that there are far better sources and docs about it and zakk in no way thinks elvis was racist or is ignorant to what it was like or the prejudices elvis faced during that time
Great video!About what you say about Prichila age, you have to know that these period of time and almost even late 70s womens use to get married or give promise to married before they become 18years old, because at the time women role was just to make a family. Also was not unusall for under 18year old girls to get marry with a 50-60year old rich man just to make sure that he is going to take care her poor family & other brothers or sisters! As much at Its unheardable now, back then was a normal thinkg and was the "right" think to do" for your family. So with Elvis wasnt not such an age difference, and according to Prichilla interview, they waited until she was older, she also said that they connected so much because of his mother loss and because she was keeping the moment with him, private, didnt talk about it with her friends so he trusted her.
You have to watch Elvis and the black community to see how he was hated by white people and generations of black people thought he was racist. He still has haters to this day but as they say it's hard to kill a good thing. I wonder how many artists will be remembered and talked and talked about nearly 50 years after their death. That's why he's the GOAT, a LEGEND as an artist and a human being. He loved his fans so don't be surprised if some disagree with you at times. We will not tolerate anyone disrespecting him. I enjoyed your post 👏👏💯🌟💞🇮🇪☘️

Elvis voice was at it best in the younger way more versatile than when he got older and when he sang the blues in the early days and playing rebel he was definitely at his best in the striking up coolness and rebellion elvis direction could have been mostly a blues singer and playing characters like Jailhouse Rock easily under different management he was brilliant in that mold early elvis doing blues doesn't get any better like a baby Dixie land rock it feels so right new aleans those kind of tracks show a brilliant alternative direction should have been continuing and those cool southern bad boy roots of a wild in the country type cinema direction tought moody blues and cool is when elvis was at his best is important to his legacy that not not to many talk about because hw his manager exploited him that's connected to other aspects of elvis overshadows when he was at his best the cool young rebel singing gritty blues written by Sean Fitzpatrick
Elvis's Christmas album is the highest selling Christmas album ever over 20 million copies sold and I've heard up to 40 million copies sold. Not a dud at all
I'm not sure Priscilla needs to be mentioned. She came into the picture right at the end of 59. The 1959 singles come from a recording session in June of 1958. Elvis had a weekend pass and flew to Nashville and recorded 5 songs. 4 went Top 10. It was the first session without Scotty and Bill. Hank Garland was on lead guitar. i do appreciate the bone spurs comment though.
The notion that Elvis stole black music, a narrative that still festers in certain corners, is surely defeated considering how his first commercial record was made. The one that was chosen just happened to be the one Sam Phillips liked that day.
