Ooooooo, that was a beautiful specimen of Optical Calcite. It’s so fascinating to hold and look through it. Apparently the Vikings used it to aid navigation when the sky was obscured.

I've heard that too... and I believe there is debate over whether it was Iceland spar or iolite that the Vikings used this way. Maybe they used both?

@@lisacrandall409 Yes, there are a few videos on RUclips explaining the use of Optical Calcite as an aid to navigation. I didn’t know Iolite was used. 😃👍

Elements, are combined, to form Carbonited compounds, & compounds, are united to form matrices, yet carbons, are compacted, to form an element called Diamond. 🤔🤷‍♂️Thanks for the cuteness, it is so much more enjoyable than a dull lecture. 👌✌️🤗

This was an interesting episode, I feel like you took a more global and conceptual approach this time, I liked it. I'm not strong in sciences so I appreciated learning about the two types of carbon cycle, this knowledge is particularly important today with the way carbon in the atmosphere impacts global warming.

If it has carbon in it, it is, by definition, organic. You have organics of biological and non-biological origin.
