I love both Obree and Boardman. Obree was a genius, he MADE the bike he set the record on and it was a unique design that helped him set the record. Boardman broke Eddy's REAL bike record.

The UCI didn’t like Obree and Boardman was miffed that Obree kept bouncing back.
Obree beat Moser’s Hour Record…
Moser was a legend.
Boardman had a bespoke state of the art bike and he beat Obree’s Hour Record.
Obree was a relatively unknown Scottish cyclist on a homemade bike with a washing machine bearing in the bottom bracket and he took the jam out of Boardman’s donut by beating Moser’s Hour Record.
He also took Gold in the World’s where he put Boardman in 3rd place.

Boardman loses to Obree.
Was Obree a better cyclist than Boardman or a better bike builder than Mike Burrows and Lotus?
I know who the UK and UCI preferred…
Graeme Obree deserves more recognition for his achievements…
Maybe Obree’s history of mental health issues are just too much.

The UCI banned the crouch position because Obree fell off; they said it wasn’t safe…

I only just discovered the Obree story, and you are spot on. The elite group didn't like an outsider toppling their smug insider Boardman, and did all they could to sabotage him. But he kept bouncing back, and history shows he was the winner in all respects, and I am glad to see he is happy these days (or in relatively recent videos he was happy, I hope he still is so).
100% correct, Obree was a outsider, UCI, industry, pro teams didn't like it... Obree was not sold to them. but believe me, Obree is remembered, where are the others ?
Now what we need is a documentary about that wide boy Vic Haines.
The statements of the UCI officials in this video are disgusting. Opinions reek of derision and smugness.
