Awesome! I have this TV too. Paid 30 euros as well. I'm definitely satisfied with the picture quality. I actually prefer this one to the Bang & Olufsen MX 4000 that I also have. This one has a much brighter screen.
YES! Of coarse, do the RGB restoration. It seems like it would be worth it. Judging by the looks, it would be easy (compared to attempting to hack a jungle chip) Please do a restore RGB, and then make a video on it. It's a beautiful CRT
Gut says just do the restoration. Like you said, you can still get the adapter to "unrestore" the composite functionality. I don't feel like you're hurting it from not being "stock" anymore and it makes for a fun story to tell others.
I have the purple version of this tv, and indeed you do need the remote to access the service menu, I had to shift the screen over to the right a little bit as the image was too far left with Scart. Took quite a good bit of digging online to find out how to access the service menu, but if you ever do get a remote you access the service menu by doing the following … Hold down the ok button on the remote, then hold down the volume up button on the tv, hold them both down for 10 seconds and it’ll take you to the service menu and you use the yellow button on the remote to change to different menus, press it once and it’ll take to the the screen alignment menu
Also I feel like the definition of stock is whatever comes out the factory, so since your model has composite from the factory that is stock for that unit. So if you want to keep it stock then you're going to want to keep the composite. Although SCART would be nice to see so yeah, this comment is not helping you much.
Nice progress on the channel, keep it up. Just my opinion: everyone always raves about Trinitrons, but low TVL count shadowmask tubes really are better suited for early 3D games, especially if they're 480i/576i only. The jaggies are a lot less noticeable and the low TVL count shadowmask tubes blend together the interlaced fields much better.
Cheers man! What a coincidence I just came down from the attic where I, only half an hour ago, was moving around this exact TV set (rgb scart included) while looking for stuff in boxes underneath it. It's a beautiful set. bought it about a couple of years ago for next to nothing 🙂. Mine also sadly didn't come with a remote. but it is possible to get a universal remote going. I do believe you need the original to be able to access the service menu though. More important in my opinion: DO THE DANG MOD! 😉 You owe that good looking TV some sweet RGB capability! Right now the poor thing is crippled! Do it! 🙂👍👍👍👍👍
And the best part is you can play time crisis, house of the dead, and other shooting game with guncon on crt tv without any other sensors I have lg 14sr1ab at home, it really nice tv, hopely my son and grandson can enjoy it later
Recently aquired the Coca Cola variant of this, with RGB-SCART. I was pleasently surprised with the geometry "out of the box", really good stuff! I don't have the remote either, but ordered a replacement one that hopefully will allow me service menu access just to tidy up som horizontal shifting and small adjustments. It's a fun looking set and good size!
Any update on that remote? Does it allow you to access the service menu? I'm about to pick one of these sets up, but the owner can't find the remote either.
Picked mine up this week! It even has some built in games which you can acces via the menu lmao. I wonder what the TURBO setting is in the service menu, can't find any info on that not even in the service manual.
I only just heard about the games recently by someone else in the comments. I searched AliExpress and found a remote which claimed to the be NeTee remote and it looks similar. Whats been stopping me is since that video was made I have moved to the 5th floor and we don't have an elevator. I'll be hauling it up all 5 soviet built floors. However this is a good reminder cause that TV is amazing and my last video with it had loads of likes. Could you make a video on it? I'd love to see what the TV can offer!
I wouldn't bother with the mod myself, but then I'm American and I play almost everything in composite only. My gamecube & SNES are using s-video. I could use S-video with the Saturn, but it makes the dithered transparencies look horrible.
@@ZezRetro you know the PAL and NTSC color system? Basically here in Europe some TVs do not support NTSC video through composite and will just display the image in black and white. Since I am about to get one soon and I play lots of guncon game, composite is pretty critical to me.
@@someonedab7222 I understand the difference between the color standards. I can confirm I used this NTSC J Gamecube and played NTSC games on this CRT via composite and it worked. Keep in mind that this model only has composite because it seems to be made for the Russian market. Every other example I have read about in Europe has RGB SCART and composite. RGB encodes color in a different way and is not PAL or NTSC as such
30 ain't bad in today's market! I would say any of the sets that have a 2 line or 3 line comb filter, composite looks fine. Of course, RGB is better...but do we really need all of our CRT's to be RGB??
>I've got health care and I've got simple RGB mods, I no longer wonder why my fellow Americans booze it up and smoke 2 packs per day. That costs LESS than health care and it takes them out early. Meanwhile, I'm trying my worst to get something better than a composite signal out of the Apple IIgs.
Healthcare + RGB mods, FTW. lol It doesn't look like it would need too many extra passive components to restore RGB SCART on this set. It's fairly common that they used that "dual footprint" thing on CRT TVs. I've seen the same thing done on the cheap LCD TV driver boards from China. Most have the three RCA (phono) sockets for Component input, and some have a SCART socket in its place.
LG missed a trick, because SCART plugs can and do also carry a composite signal, they could have simply bundled an adapter plug that breaks out the composite pins to an RCA jack anyway and saved the cost of spinning a separate model xD
Such a beautiful set. Congratulations Louis!

I love how futuristic. It seems like you're enjoying the TV as is with out moding it. I would leave it alone and spend the time playing games.
Your intro blew out my speakers and scared my dog.
Pass along my apologies to your dog

Hi, thanks for the Scart audio out.
The back of this TV very much looks like an iMac G3, I love the look of it.

Love it, yes RBG mod. Every tube deserves to be seen in its full potential and you can still always just composite.
This TV looks so sweet!🔥

That is rather incredible actually. Good find! It’s not amazingly sharp obviously, but loads of fun.

I want one! I would've paid 30 for that all day.. even though i HATE composite only sets.
You should be able to use another LG remote from around that time frame or possibly a universal remote as well. Check into that.

Such a cool looking TV, fits right into a Jetsons episode! Since you can still use a composite adapter, I'd say go ahead and do the RGB restoration.
A little usb IR blaster should get you into the menu, some phones have them but the apps tend to be less versatile.

Yep..Big into Genesis and I wouldn't want to lose dithering as well
God I love this CRT, I am about to get one in some weeks, does it support NTSC video btw?
Yea sir, that’s a ntsc j orange gamecube on the thumbnail

Ok you are going to need to explain more about the “preloaded games” 😀
@Zez Retro gonna look for remotes

Upload them to Imgur and post them here or @zez me on twitter
Found gaming remote called

2 games preloaded

If it were me I’d leave the Composite but if you’ve got the time, supplies, and energy then do the RGB SCART mod. Regardless, the TV looks great.
Hi! Do you know if it is possible to change Aspect Ratio (Zoom) without the remote? I have black bars on the top and bottom that are driving me crazy.
Control is limited without a remote, but search aliexpress for a clone one
Offcause you should that simple RGB scary mod/restoration 😊
Is it possible to connect an NTSC console to a TV with a SCART connector? Can it handle 60Hz, or is it 50Hz only?
Yes it is. The Spice Orange GC you see in the video and thumb is a Japanese NTSC model and it's playing the NTSC version of Double Dash
@@ZezRetroperfect 😊 i think i get tomorrow an atari jaguar and thats a ntsc console. So i can use it on this tv 😁 great 👍🏻
Depends on what purpose the set has. As piece of history, keep it as is. As a retro gaming monitor, mod it for rgb. Personally I would mod it.
