How do injured brains help explain normal brains? One of the most powerful ways of learning about normal brain function is to examine what functions are lost when parts or areas of the brain are degraded or destroyed due to injury or disease. The subtle variations of different brain problems reveal the remarkable strands that make normal brain work so well.

This is the best Closer To Truth video yet! Human cognition is the very core of all human understanding. Each individual's internal cognitive processes are what connect a person to the world around them, particularly the social world. Whenever we have a conversation with someone, or appreciate an insightful RUclips video, it is really just the unfathomably complex electrochemical machinery of our brains which is doing all the work. The continuous processes of incorporating new knowledge, experiencing feelings, expressing oneself, taking action, and creating memories, are all reflected in minute, short, medium, and long-term changes in the biology of our brains, and collectively they also form the fundamental structure and function of all human society. Understanding how our brains function at a fundamental level and how they respond to social interaction, environment, diet, and biochemical agents is essential if we as a species are to have any hope of a long-term future.

I would have fighting dreams and literally punch, kick and sometimes throw myself out off bed. I sustained hand and toe injuries because of it. So I worked on a no fighting mindset when I was in bed and it worked. I will still find myself typing in half-awake dream state but not being violent.

Findings like these are important and may offer critical insights but, unless we have the right explanatory framework in place, they're not likely to yield any real meaning. Because unless you first determine what the conscious self is, you cannot answer properly who or what exactly is getting affected.
The dualist framework of two entities, brain and immaterial conscious personality, makes, unlike materialist ideology, a clear dichotomy between "affecting" and the "affected" helping greatly in a proper interpretation of such findings.
Within such an interpretive framework, we may easily realize that what is happening in these cases is that the brain is exerting a tremendous influence on the transcendental mind. A great fact regarding reality may thus be uncovered:
_The parameters that affect the flow of signals through the neurons may, on change, cause disturbances, deviations and obstructions in the exercise of the powers of the conscious personality. In other words, the normal operation of the powers of the conscious personality would require / depend on some kind of sensory "fine tuning."_
This only would be the correct interpretation. "What is that entity that does this fine tuning " is the next logical question that we must seek to answer.

0:32 REM disorder ...... with rapid eye movement sleep REM sleep there's typically inhibition of many of the motor system so you're paralyzed basically when you're in REM but in REM (even though your dreams are very active ) your brain is active and so forth but in REM behavior disorder that paralysis no longer is operative because cells that create that paralysis are degenerating so what happesns? 1:05 so what happens is the person when they go into REM sleep starts acting out their dreams so you see they will get out of bed they will thrash in bed their eyes may be open and they will literally be hallucinating or dreaming a set of dream interactions and they're typically aggressive interactions with REM so you the patient will be punching some invisible figure we there are cases well documented cases of patients literally jumping out a window trying to get away from somebody who's chasing them they're so convinced that the dream is real obbiously so what this particular brain disorder does is allow us to see REM action so you learn a great deal about REM from this particular and so 1:52 so you learn what the brain is doing in the normal case which is inhibiting the body from acting out those aggressive uh dreams taht we have 2:03 PM: right and note that 2:56 OELO syndrome: ... 5:29 what it teaches us it teaches us that there are some circuits that are very dedicated to a single function you know making sure that whoever you're investing your genes in doesn't cheat on you and the circuit is concerned with cognitions about that kind of behavior and then these ognitions get automatically produced when the circuit is activated and then they can become delusional 5:51 6:02 ... from evidence so I think it teaches us some very interesting things about how the brain mind works ( ... and also in terms of the relationship between evidence and belief in other words evidence and belief are not the same thing all the time because biology can affect the degree to which evidence affects belief here you have an example where evidence has no impact on belief belief because of some biological problem 6:27 PM uh it has some impact because all these patients search for evidence to but only accept evidence that support the belief stay on the sheet or this guy saw headlights in his driveway and he was utterly convinced it was the Lover's Headlights. 6:42 Biblical inerrancy is the belief that the Bible "is without error or fault in all its teaching";[1] or, at least, that "Scripture in the original manuscripts does not affirm anything that is contrary to fact".[2] Some equate inerrancy with biblical infallibility; others do not.

Consciousness is as real as feelings we get which are sometimes false or illogical. Its just a feeling generated in our brain. It also relates to psychology. For example , relgious belief is as real as it is a feeling. Billions of humans are unable to snap out of it. This does not mean all the gods are real even if only one god is real.😅

The Brain’s shape determines a person’s self-awareness. Consciousness is reducible based on a million experiments/observations involving deteriorating brain diseases. Consciousness is not independent, nor is it fundamental. If it were then everyone would experience the same exact consciousness, regardless of a person’s brain shape and size - physical make up.

    • @samhangster
      @samhangster 5 месяцев назад +21

Your claim is baseless. Consciousness can be fundamental, and brains can just be external, noncausal representations of subjective experience, as Idealism postulates. Nothing necessitates that if consciousness is fundamental everyone would experience the same exact consciousness. But regardless, in a sense, we all percieve the same reality, just through a different conscious framework. And once again Idealism prevails, because if reality itself is consciousness, then it is objectively one thing, and all of our subjective interpretations of it can be different yet unified, all still arising from this one objective consciousness.

@@samhangsterIdealist philosophy can't be falsified so the great vast majority of scientists are physicalists, materialists, or naturalists. The physical Universe preceded by billions of years any forms of life, human life, consciousness. Consciousness did not precede the Universe, it took millions of years to develop and was an extremely random and rare event.

Brains exist without consciousness, but you can’t have consciousness without a brain. That’s simple stuff.
I challenge you to prove consciousness is fundamental. -Go to the local morgue and ask a dead person with a dead brain to do basic math.
You said “Nothing necessitates that if consciousness is fundamental everyone would experience the same exact consciousness.”

Imagine all the stuff kids see from on the TV, movies, computer, the news, how they're conformed in the concentration camps known as public schools, and going through life, experiencing pain and loss, having no direction or genuine relationship within themself and nature, nobody ever taught them anything about life, or the Sun stars & moon, and how easily we're all influenced, having never found the Spiritual compass within....all this, and the induced impulses that arise unconsciously and how they effect us unwittingly, never aware of it; thus forms bias, partiality, favoritisms.
Being paranoid isn't really a surprise when you understand what mankind impresses into their minds. Really, the only way to deal with it is to become desensitized, and that comes with great problems down the road.
^ couple all that and everything ^ with abuse and domestic, the world, the dark history and wars, sensual delectation, too, God being a joke today, there's no Soul or Spirit, everything is material(quantum), low self esteem, self neglect, the duality of the world, the contrast between Hollywood and the poor.
A wise man said: nothing in nature is vain.
It's never about what's wrong....it's 'what has happened' that lead up to the 'wrong'.
