Winnipeg police respond to hostage situation on Furby st

Shortly after 1:30 pm Thursday afternoon, Winnipeg police got reports of a hostage situation in a apartment block at 25 Furby st.
Police arrived and found that a male had barricaded a suite in the building and taken 2 adults and 1 child hostage trapping them inside while the male was armed.
After hours of negotiations with the armed male. A adult female and a child were released from the suite where the armed male was. A male victim also escaped from the suite though a outside balcony.
Communications and negotiations were established by the tactical support team and crisis negotiation unit.
At 5:10 pm, tactical support team members entered the suite using flash bangs. As members entered the suite, a member discharged there firearm striking the male. The male then succumbed to his injuries. Non of the Victims were injured.
Investigators believe the deceased male was a person of interest regarding another homicide being investigated at the address.
