It changes the whole legs and makes them ill fitting and too short. The obviously faked thumbnail plus just simple logic and basic sewing knowledge was enough to tell me that this is was going to be a really deceptive instructional before I even watched it. I don't reccomend this AT ALL...
Cool project. I just tried this on a 5 year-old pair of Old Navy Rockstar skinny jeans with zippers at the foot. This took 25 minutes to complete. Things to note. 1. The length you add to the seat/crotch area is how much shorter the overall length of your jeans will become. Mine are now 2.5 inches shorter, ankle to high-water length. The fit feels loose which is a good thing. 2. The new back seam will lose the twin needle stiches that jeans have, starting from wherever you cut it all the way down to the crotch area. See 3:10 in the video. It doesn't look good on dark jeans bc the twin stich abruptly stops mid crack. 3. Use the correct color jeans strength thread. 4. Sew the new seams really, really well. I used a straight then zip zag stich. 5. I had a bit of trouble making the area where the new and old back seam meet join properly. See 3:10. 6. Practice on an old or cheap pair. Overall, the jeans are higher in the waist, less snug in the hips and seat, and shorter in length. Edit: So 56 minutes later, I fixed the weird back seam issue by salvaging the seam left over from the initial cuts. That meant sewing three separate pieces of the old seam over the new seat seam. I used the same color thread and stitch length to mimic the look of the original twin seams. My machine struggled to get through the fabric at times, popping the thread every so often. Also, I didn't take in the new, higher waist because I liked the feel, fitted with just enough room. Overall the new look is passable. The only tiny issue is that I feel a bit of forward pull in the rear crotch area, where the four sections of cloth are joined. But, it doesn't look weird. Edit: The back seam looked weird afterall, so I cut it out completely and sewed a new seam sans the twin stiches. I used the center back belt loop to hide the seam I cut into the waist band. My verdict: Buy high-rise jeans.

@se4698 I have a question, I have a very long torso, so even when I buy high-rise pants, the pats always pull in a little bit. And I thought this project would help. Do you think if I do this on an already high-rise pants, would it be better? I would only need to release maybe 1 inch, and I dont mind losing that length. Also, my pants and shorts are not jeans, just regural fabrics. And my pants and jeans are loose-fitting.

Awesome hack ! I tried on my rough jean and it turned out so good, I'm going to wear it more often now. You just need a little practice and you're good to go !
WOW I was just starting to worry that there was literally zero logic happening in the comments so thank you for this. Yes, you are right! AND even if you want too short jeans this would make most actual skinny jeans look like misshapen trash. The legs are already sewn to be a varying width that match the natural curves of legs. If you bring the extra skinny ankle part up to where your calf is and the calf part up to the crook of your knee and so on... the result is BAD. Try it with skinny jeans at home by pulling the legs up too high and you'll see how bad it looks
Wow! That was amazing! The high-waisted jeans look much more flattering. They seem to compliment your body better and just look better on your natural waist line. I love high-rise or high-waisted jeans. Much more comfortable to wear
So i tried this and... It workes, except the size :/ im a little thicker in the thigh area so they didnt fit, now i have a big hole and dont know what to do
I'm glad you commented this because I was gonna try it but my thighs are a lot bigger than the rest of my legs so I'd probably end up with ruined jeans too. Thank you for taking one for the team haha
That's what she said. Sorry. no actually I have the same concern.. I have thighs that are too thick at the top if that makes sense but thanks for the heads up!
Very clever👏. I have a few favourite low rise jeans but don’t wear anymore just because I hate low rise! But I kept them because they were rare, beaded jeans bought overseas. I will try this trick. Thank you for sharing.
Perfect ! I will do this with my old jeans. @@blackbutterfly383 Yes, it did! Last week I went on a trouser adjustment binge and so far I've altered 10 pairs of jeans and about 15 tights. Amazing hack.
Waaow av always wanted to know this n thot its impossible.. i hate low waist jeans that i own.Thankyou took me a while to come across this.try it soon💖
Unless you got your jeans from me, since I wear talls, and you're very short this isn't going to work. You'll end up with high water pants. Also the pleats in the back are ok but, I would suggest cutting off the excess fabric as it'll be very uncomfortable. Don't try this unless you have a sewing machine and a serger. I learned that the hard way with jeans as a kid. If your seams are not sufficiently reinforced you'll get a nasty surprise when you least expect it. As in your butt hanging out for everyone to see... usually in public. If you want to do this I suggest you do some research first on how fabric lies and which way grains run. Something like this is not going to run you less than an hour to do correctly and, that's if you know what you're doing. I have to make at least half my clothes since I'm 6ft and refuse to pay $150+ the base price the rest of you pay for and extra 6-8 inches. Also make sure you don't use any jeans that are really stretched out of shape or thin through the middle. Thigh blow outs are not fun after putting in that kind of work.
The length issue is only a fraction of the problem! The entire fit of the legs gets ruined. Jeans are like $8 at thrift stores so between the time and effort and the poor result it's just ridiculous to do this rather than buying used high waisted jeans.
@@lindseynobody4865 you are right. I get tired of people saying they know how to sew when they really don't. I have done something similar (but correctly) for my daughter. She liked my jeans for the color and, they don't happen to make them any more. The difference is that she is literally half my size. That's the only time you can really make that work. I had to take the jeans all the way apart to recut them so they would fit right.
I don't think this would work well UNLESS the jeans were a bit ĺoose around the hips to start with(and the fabric VERY stretchy). Hips are usually your widest measurement and the length directly below the hip/crotch length is what sits on your hips in the new hacked jeans. If I'm thinking this through correctly, the new jeans will sit pretty tightly around the hips. Wasn't that a huge chunk of fabric that was cut off around the crotch area? I'm curious if anyone has tried this and been successful with the results. I honestly think this would only work if you're a skinny person and don't have much of a booty(😕)
You're right, this only works for me if I do it on a pair of pants that is 1-2 sizes too large. Sometimes I buy pants extra large with the intention of modifying them like this though because I have a long torso, so even if I buy high-waisted pants they are barely mid-rise on me. But if I do this on pants that fit well before, they just won't come up all the way or have an odd shape in the crotch. Honestly I think you can see a bit of that in the video, the front of the pants look at little bunchy and odd.
This whole idea just isn't sound at all. The entire fit gets thrown off as well as the length. There is almost no scenario in which doing this would even be more time and cost effective than than just buying high waisted pants at a thrift store, let alone yield a nice looking or comfortable result! VERY deceptive tutorial. Don't do this to your pants.
I want to try this but I'm so scared of ruining my jeans 😭 Edit: I did it and now they are my favorite jeans in the world!!! The only recommendation that I have is to not cut TOO MUCH (I accidentally cut too much in a pair of scrap jeans just to practice and it was...tragic lol)
And the awkwardly short new length and the fact that the whole legs get moved up so the way that they are originally sewn to fit curves gets completely thrown off. Even people who don't really understand how sewing works should be noticing how the idea just doesn't actually make any practical sense. The very obviously faked thumbnail should have been everybody's first clue!
@@lindseynobody4865 Well I actually tried this, but not with thight skinny jeans but looser, kind of boyfriend style ones and the result honestly even fits better than the original did.
Use seam ripper to remove pockets then sew them back on so they look right...I thought the exact same thing I was like girl please....I know why you keeping your hands in the pockets nice try though!
I genuinely thought she was just gonna add to the top, this is brilliant

Great. And we need to be careful not to cut too wide (that 4fingers measurement) as it will end up very tight allowing very less leg stretch movement
So i tried this and...
It workes, except the size :/ im a little thicker in the thigh area so they didnt fit, now i have a big hole and dont know what to do
Add a patch? Ya maybe not
I'm glad you commented this because I was gonna try it but my thighs are a lot bigger than the rest of my legs so I'd probably end up with ruined jeans too. Thank you for taking one for the team haha
That's what she said. Sorry. no actually I have the same concern.. I have thighs that are too thick at the top if that makes sense but thanks for the heads up!
You should try thrifting pants and doing this! Thrift flip
:)
I have the same “problem “ with my thighs... you can make it a skirt 🤔 with the legs of the jeans 👖
Wow 😲😲 I'm dazed! Here I am looking for a pair of high waist trouser to buy. This is amazing! Thanks so much
! God bless you!
Lo voy a intentar ahora que estoy aprendiendo a usar máquina. Gracias!
Very clever👏. I have a few favourite low rise jeans but don’t wear anymore just because I hate low rise! But I kept them because they were rare, beaded jeans bought overseas. I will try this trick. Thank you for sharing.
Perfect ! I will do this with my old jeans. But as someone who can saw I was cringing so much when you were measuring with your hand and cutting without really measuring everything etc haha it was quite OCD of me. Thank you for the idea! And continue your channel babe ! You have so much views with only 4 videos wow! ❤
It's the best video I've ever found in my life💜
I kind wish this wasn't on a white backdrop, hard to see pants

It's not very good witchcraft it turns your pants into caprese
Best video ever on this internet ❤❤❤
Si tienen razón después de hacer las pinzas en la parte de atrás las bolsas ya no quedan planas,se espongan y además quedan mucho más cortos.
i was scared to do this but i did and it turned out to be awesome you guys must try it too without a second thought 😍
I love high waist pants... they totally transform your body... low waist pants are not for everyone! I would never go back to the low waist era...
Thank you very much. You made it easy to transform my pants to high waist.
Idk why I thought she would add more fabric that magically matched the pants 😭😭
Ohmygod, this actually works ,my jeans turned out sooo well ,😂 i m like really happy , i didnt expect it would fit me this welll ,thanks to RUclips suggestions which made me see this and save my money lol😂😂

Wow this is so simple and so amazing!
Okay. I need this . I must apply it. My jeans need this technique. Thanks😉
Very creative idea 👌👍😊
Ohh it genuinely works, I tried it and the truck is awesome. Thanks

Wow... this is genius! I have tones of uncomfortable low waists! I'm changing them right away... thank you so much!
did it work
@@blackbutterfly383 Yes, it did! Last week I went on a trouser adjustment binge and so far I've altered 10 pairs of jeans and about 15 tights. Amazing hack.
Lo probé😍funciona super bien❤
Wow it worked 😍😍😍 thank you so much😘😘
Waaow av always wanted to know this n thot its impossible.. i hate low waist jeans that i own.Thankyou took me a while to come across this.try it soon💖
N wat happened to the length of the trou...did it change??
Fatma Mzungu Thank you very much for watch this tutorial! 💖 i hope you do it 😍 and yes it changed
Mere sath aisa hi hota h 👖 😐😭
Mai ye try krungi I hope ese se hi bn jaye
Thank you for sharing dear 😊
omg thank u sm for sharing this❤❤❤
dan I’m so so happy to help! 😍 thank you very much for watch this tutorial 💖
It worked🙌🏼🙌🏼 I’m so happy 🤗
The amount of trust im giving this video, Im trying this rn i hope it comes out good 😭

Edit: I did it and now they are my favorite jeans in the world!!! The only recommendation that I have is to not cut TOO MUCH (I accidentally cut too much in a pair of scrap jeans just to practice and it was...tragic lol)

Muchas gracias por ver el video! 😍
U saved my day... Thank uh..... It really worked and its jst amazing😍😍😍😍
You can't trick me I know the pockets came out weird. Your end up having to figure out something to do with them
And the awkwardly short new length and the fact that the whole legs get moved up so the way that they are originally sewn to fit curves gets completely thrown off. Even people who don't really understand how sewing works should be noticing how the idea just doesn't actually make any practical sense. The very obviously faked thumbnail should have been everybody's first clue!
lindsey nobody then try doing these with looser jeans to make it more of a mom jean fit
@@lindseynobody4865 Well I actually tried this, but not with thight skinny jeans but looser, kind of boyfriend style ones and the result honestly even fits better than the original did.
Use seam ripper to remove pockets then sew them back on so they look right...I thought the exact same thing I was like girl please....I know why you keeping your hands in the pockets nice try though!
just resew them back on . or remove them . or make side pockets instead
