    When young, my father was a paramedic. In a domestic fight (drunk people) one of them stabbed a guy in the heart region.
    Called paramedics, they came, took the guy to the hospital. Before entering the surgery, stabbed person was still talking and was alive. He even talked to near standing relatives and joked with them, like, see you later ect. They really beleived that everything will be ok.
    In the operation, surgeons discovered that one of big aortas was damaged and knife was acting like tamponade. After removal, surgeons wasn't able to do much and guy bled out completely within minutes.
    Relatives blamed doctors because they just couldn't accept how in one moment they where able to talk to patient and everything seemed to be well but after some minutes a time of death was declared..
    They put that shit on paramedics and even this was all of their fault, my dad had to live with the blame for a long time until he forgave himself and accepted that it wasn't his fault.
    Long story short, knife can really work as a blockade. Allthough it didn't help in this excact situation, never pull out knife, except when surgeons do it. Much higher chance of survival.

    • @larissa4608
      @larissa4608 11 месяцев назад +9

      But even if a surgeon pulls the knife they can't do anything to stop the bleeding sometimes, it looks like it.
      I thought we had enough technological developments to prevent stuff like that. We can build bullet trains but still we can't cure cancer and can't stop a bleeeding if it's really deep like this situation.

      If you plan to move like say if a killer is after you it's better to remove most knifes cause otherwise your going to damage internal organs most likely..it's going to fall out anyways probably unless it's so deep which means you can't move anyways ...keeping it in only applies if you don't plan to move until medics come to your location or its not that deep..if it's like near your heart it may be better to move it out slowly not fast cause damn...but you better bandage it up or else your done for either way

      @@spicybook you can, but you really don’t want to use tourniquets unless it’s the only thing you can do. Whenever you apply a tourniquet you put a time, and date on it, and at least in the military only a Mil. doc is allowed to remove the tourniquet to either operate or replace.
      The reason you don’t want to put one on if you don’t have to is that after a while of not getting blood into the limb you’ll be damaging said limb more. Not receiving oxygen through blood can cause permanent damage to the muscles, and so on. I don’t know exactly when said damages start being permanent, but that’s why you don’t always just want to slap a tourniquet on.

    I was taught this in basic emergency medical technician/firefighter training, and even all the way up to paramedic training, they taught us even though you are able to do more than what a civilian can do you’re not a doctor, stabilize the wound by packing around it with gauze or a water bottle cut in half and secure it with medical tape and leave it for the doctors to treat

    About a year and a half ago I was trying to open a ravioli can with a giant knife and it slipped and went straight through my hand. Being my smart self I pulled it out without thinking. Luckily I was at a friend's house and they put pressure on it and I went to the hospital. I haven't touched a ravioli can since and I had earned the nickname ravioli hand :')

    These people came into my classroom, like 4 years ago to demonstrate how much we have in our body and how much we can lose and still stay alive.
    They also said that if you’re stabbed above, then raise your legs to allow blood flow to the area (I’m not sure if this applies to the lower half of your body). You should also apply pressure to wherever you’ve been stabbed and use layers to keep warm debating how your body temperature will drop.
