    Good review mate of the Whyte, I remember when they got announced, and the advert for it 👍🏼 they are meant to be a very nice bike, not a brand I have ever ridden yet. Great video ⚡

      Thanks so much for watching and your feedback. I was truly WoW’ed by how capable this e-160rs was, I’d highly recommend getting your hands on one as soon as you can and to ride it how it was designed to be ridden as it absolutely comes alive. Stay safe and shred well ⚡️ ✊

    Great review fella. Love my Haibike AllMtn7 but I really wanted the E160RS :-). Shame my requirement to remove the battery made it a no-goer for me. Will have to get over to Friston soon as I'm right in between there and Peaslake :-)

      Once we have the better weather return it’s an awesome place for so much fun. A grand mix of everything really from fast flowing trails to lung busting climbs. Thanks for watching and for your feedback 👊🤙🤘

    Brilliant video Phill! You have a very valid point on the battery and it would be a problem if you wanted to swap it for a spare fully charged one mid ride. 👍

    Small world ! I know those local trails very well. I rode a Whyte E150 and E180 from cadence cycle club on 2 taster sessions last weekend in the sun. My first time on eMTB. Absolute bliss riding up to the top of X files in Friston which would normally kill me and then incredibly plush suspension on the down. Will hire again before the end of March to try a longer session . My usual bike is a T130 like yours :)

      Nick, you have excellent taste in trail weapons 👊. That climb up to X-files certainly is a brutal one but oh so worth it. Hope to meet you out there on day, or join on of our #fsrmtb group rides (link in the description 😉). Thanks for watching dude 👍

    thanks great video - although i wish you had showed taking the battery out, or if it has a charging port on the bike? Looks very very similar to the Focus Thron2 6.9 (2022), i'd be interested to hear/see a comparison as Focus have perfected the battery removal and have a nice charging port, 750wH battery etc.

      Hi, thanks for watching and commenting 👍. Although I didn’t show the battery being removed, I did a static review of the bike showing the charging port here: ruclips.net/video/ZWztQNzOY5k/видео.html

    Thank you for mph read out. The trail, actually a service road to Powell Butte Nature Park in Portland, Or. is behind my house. On my first mt. bike I’d routinely hit 32mph. And that was it for all 8 or 9 bikes. Gravity....the paved road coming down from the parking lot...42mph.. So with the 1000 watt Bafang on my old Banshee Scirocco, I have actually said to my self, “I dare you to hit the throttle, and floor it” I did for maybe 2 seconds. OMG ! A mix of fun and terror. There’s a better wide open and smoother service road where I floored all the way down a hit 42mph. Not anything special, but at 70 years old, it’s like riding with the Grim Reaper. I’ve never acted my age....and the ebike has been a real game changer. 25 years ago we had to stop at the top rest, maybe have a beer, and always slammed our seats down. Now I can do an entire 5 or 6 mile loop non-stop. And the downhill has much improved because you’re just getting warmed when you get to the top. Strength left to have a beer at home, and do it again..

      This is what it’s all about, age is only a number and mountain biking makes us feel free and young every time. Sounds like you are having a blast👊🤘. Thanks for watching and for your feedback 👊🤙🤘

    Hi mate, potentially thinking of getting the Whyte E160s this weekend. Random question for you, do you know what the weight of the bike is with the battery removed, or do you know anyone with the bike who could answer this?
    I’m looking @ the E160 but frame and motor are the same…. With the main differences on the RS model being:different front & back forks, cassette, pads and brakes, but i don’t think there would be much different between them both in terms of weight?

    • @UPHILLPHILL
      @UPHILLPHILL  2 года назад +1

      Hello Si. Thanks for your message and for watching my video 👊. The E160rs that I tested was a large and the overall weight was 25.14kg. The 625Wh Bosch internal PowerTube battery comes in at 3.9kg, so bike without battery would be approx 21.24kg depending on size. As for different models, the weight difference’s would be negligible. Higher models will tend to have much stronger, lighter and harder wearing components that are generally designed to take more abuse. Lower models will have the opposite really which allows manufacturers to offer an awesome bike for those just getting into the sport. My advice (from years of experience) would be to weigh up affordability, intended use and your current/future skill levels.
      I really hope this helps and I wish you all the best with your future ebike.
      Best wishes 💪😉🤙

      @UPHILLPHILL  2 года назад

      Hi James. Thanks for your message, yes, you’re spot on, it’s an awesome bike👍. The settings I use on my Hero9 Black are:
      Protune = ON
      * Resolution: 4K superview.
      * Frames per second: 24
      * Superview
      * Hypersmooth BOOST = On (crops image so chesty only)
      * Hypersmooth = On (chinbar mount)
      * Bit rate = High
      * EV comp: -0.1
      * ISO min = 100
      * ISO max = 3200 (helps with stabilisation)
      * White balance: 6500k (cloudy conditions) (5500 - normal/sunny)
      * Colour: GoPro
      * Sharpness: high
      * RAW audio = off
      * Wind = on without wind jacket.
      * Wind = off with wind jacket.

    Hi Phil. You said it were a large? What’s your height? I’m 6ft 1 and wondering if a xl would be ok for me?

    • @UPHILLPHILL
      @UPHILLPHILL  2 года назад

      Hi Scott. I’m 5’10” and the large fits me perfectly so I reckon the XL would be a great choice 👍. I would however suggest a test ride if at all possible as the cockpit reach will be longer, just something to consider. Good luck dude 👊

    Hi, nice vid. I’m looking into the Whyte ebikes, what did you think of the “Bosch rattle”? It’s not that apparent from the video when descending, but interested in your opinion, cheers

      @UPHILLPHILL  3 года назад +1

      Hi Ian, thanks for your message. With regards to “Bosch rattle”, I did notice it but only really because I was wanting to see what all the fuss was about! Yes, it’s there but to be honest, I was having such a bloody awesome time that it really didn’t bother me at all, anyway, when you’re Hooning it down the DH there’s so much chatter coming from the tyre’s and my mouth from all the whooping that’s it’s un noticeable😉. Thanks for watching dude 👊🤘

    How.long does the battery last

    • @UPHILLPHILL
      @UPHILLPHILL  2 года назад

      I’d love to answer your question but it’s all dependent on many different factors really, riding style, rider weight, terrain, altitude/climbing etc…. My all day ride that I did in the video used approx 2/3rds of the battery power and I pushed it hard too💪😉🤘
