Can’t wait to get this one to the table. I was curious your thoughts on another Napoleon system if you ever played, Richard Bergs Triumph and Glory? I got the two volumes in that recently as well
Hi Michael. I’m afraid most of my Nappy battlefield system experience is limited to La Batt and Hexasim’s Eagles. It’s most excellent to see another come along, though, and once they get the rules sorted out it could be a real winner. 🏅. Something about 40 years ago I was in an inter club miniatures game with 40,000+ figures on the floor. To this day I cherish the memory of my Prussian artillery forcing the Young Guard to rout past Napoleon! Epic!!! - Paul
Nice review, thank you for that :-) Please make sure to use living rule version 1.4, we added some clarifications and a couple nice details after getting a lot of great feedback from gamers all over the world.
Hello. I very much appreciate your comment on my review. I’ll take a look at v1.4, but I very much hope for an expanded (extended example of play) and sanitized v2.0 with your next game in the series. The guys at Hexasim took 3 game releases to get their “Eagles” system stable, so if you can do it in two that would be great! A most excellent first release and some thought-provoking ideas. - Paul
@@theoakenknight1748 Hello Paul, you are totally right. I think the effort we make and having already version 1.4 (which will soon be released officially and will be the final verion) shows how seriously we take the demand for some clarifications and also, many gamers asked for more detail (like the supporting offensive role of Horse Artillery). We will also include an extended example of play. It should NOT take us 2 or 3 games to have a waterproof system. My goal is to have that done with 1.4 of Eylau.
Was a bit surprise at the amount of counters, I did not realize that there was that many. I think the map is very popular among gamers or so I seem to have gather on different comments but I really don’t like it, feel wrong to me but I can’t really point out exactly why. It just rub me the wrong way 😊
Hey Patrick! Maybe you have a thing against white? Seriously, I like the board overall. The vertex-only printed hexes work for me, and how else could you represent a landscape in a blizzard? Only critique I have heard is that the hexes may be a little too small for the counters, but nothing serious, especially since there are no corner nubs to get hung up on. - Paul
@@patrickols It's winter and a blizzard and we wanted to portrait this. A summer themed Eylau map is simply not cutting it for us. The next module, Quatre Bras, will be in summer ;)
There are actually a good amount of counters but many many of them are markers. And I guess they rather put too much markers than too few in the box :-) I totally agree with the remarks about the non existence of nibs, this is a outstanding, never saw that in any other game. The map is "too white"? Well, it was winter LOL
It's a very immersive... harsh, harsh cold blanket of White map. It's supposed to emphasize the winter storm conditions blanketing the area of conflict at the time.
Thanks for the review and insights.
My Pleasure Mr Wolf…. - Paul

Now you just need me to play the French (because my wife's French).
Oui oui, mon sewer! Always room for a new Nappy system! - P

@@theoakenknight1748 yes it’s too white. I know why they did it like that 😀
