Fast forward 15 years, and your online experience couldn’t be simpler to buy CDs, DVDs & Vinyl titles from some of the greatest artists.
Whether you buy from our site, iTunes, other digital outlets, or even your local High Street shop we are constantly adding to our catalogue to bring you great quality product and great prices.

These guys just beautifully blew the walls off of every venue that they ever visited.
Absolutely!!! Damn I miss them!!!
Agree
The greatest bar band I ever saw... or had the honor of opening for. These guys were the real deal. Amazing.... and missed.
Wow. That was evocative. Great cover; I bet Neil likes it. Beat Farmers have gotta be the greatest band nobody outside of San Diego ever heard of. They shoulda been megastars.
I heard of them, and I'm from Indiana. They played the Vogue in Indianapolis in the early '80s...I still play their songs. In fact, I never knew this was a Neil song.
They played at Ken Livingstone’s big red socialist, free extravaganza; Jubilee Gardens, 1985
Saw them 3 times in Central NY. Buddy Blue and later Joey Harrison. To be honest, the Buddy Blue version was my favorite lineup. But Joey Harrison was the better songwriter. They were a buried treasure for sure, but they had rabid cult fans all over the country.
Yes, I still have all their albums and 3 years of the Almanac.
Saw them twice in Tucson.
They used to come to Tucson often.
I just keep going back to this, best version of Powderfinger ever.
I mean, aside from rust never sleeps, sure.
@@patrickbowe6262I fell asleep halfway through that version. Maybe I would have liked the original if I hadn't heard the Beat Farmers version first. The Beat Farmers - Van Go was the first album I bought.
I saw these guys back in '86 in LA at The Roxy opening for The Del Fuegos, and they absolutely blew the wall off of the place.
Just saw the Farmers last week in Novato CA. Jerry, Joey and Rolle still kicking ass, be sure to catxh them if they come to your town.
Gosh, this is just great. First time hearing it after years.
Jerry is still kickin" Ass!' (Thank you soo much Jerry!!)
For a relatively obscure group, i am glad they have a decent amount of live footage
A friend introduced me to these guys today. The Beat Farmers just got themselves an Aussie fan. Very, very nice version of an iconic song. A lot more accessible than the original.
Wonder what year this was recorded? Country Dick died onstage in Victoria, B.C. November 8, 1995.
I don't see Joey Harris here and this is the first time I've ever seen Rollie Love lead vocals. He has that Social Distortion vibe working.
I was so blessed to have friends in a Houston band that always opened for The Beat Farmers back in the day. They'd play at this old rickety building, Fitzgerald's in the Heights on White Oak Bld, Houston Texas.
The building was 2 stories. Downstairs was a place called Zeldas where bands played but upstairs was really cool. Old wooden building with a wraparound wooden porch, a big place where people would stand and/or dance then tables all around with 2 bars, I believe. Outside in the back was a large yard with a patio where we got to visit with these guys.
The Beat Farmers are my very favorite band, still. There was nobody like them. They hung with Mojo Nixon and Reverend Hornton Heat. Kind of rock-a-Billy, mostly Cowpunk.
Every single one of these guys were so kind and laid back. No egos. They always showed their fans a great time and great entertainment thanks to Country Dick's antics. Ya had to see him to believe it. He was an entertainer. Joey Harris and Jerry Rainey were/are talented singers and song writers. Rollie Love, an awesome bassist and they just all fit together.
Powde Finger is a top favorite song. I bought the album Rust Never Sleep by Neil Young when I was 16 back in 1979. The Beat Farmers did such a fantastic job spicing it up a bit.
The last time we saw them was in the Fall of 1995. One month later we got the news that Country Dick Montana (Dan Maclaine, his real name) had a heart attack onstage in British Columbia. Earlier that day he said he wasn't feeling well, dizzy. Into the beginning of the 4th song, Jerry started playing but Country Dick wasn't turning in on drums. Joey asked him if he was alright and he replied "No". Joey called for the crew and seconds later, Country Dick fell back and passed away immediately. He was 40 years old.
He was rushed to hospital, worked on for about an hour but he was gone.
I will always be grateful to have experienced many performances of theirs but I'll also be sad that I'll never see them perform on earth again.
I'm sure there are so many people who say them often and have the same great memories of these guys that I and tons of others do.
Rest In peace and thanks for the great shows and great vibes just being around you all.
That’s Buddy Blue on the lead vocals here. That said, your comment is very interesting, thanks for sharing!
Dec '85, at Universal Hollywood.
Really sad to lose him at only 40 but in a way, it seems like a fitting way for a rock n roll legend to go
I'm guessing it was summer of '85. Same time as Live Aid. I went to Live Aid in London, and the Beat Farmers were in town at the same time. I also saw Mojo Nixon play at Zelda's in the basement of Fitzgeralds in '91 or '92.
Here in the Netherlands alot of people love them also
Great band
They earn alot more credits wordwide
Powder Finger done right, RIP Buddy.
and RIP Country Dick.
Hubba, hubba, hubba, hubba, hubba!
Neil loves their version apparently!
Makes me cry!!!
Great band. Great tune.
OH MAN!! This is next level shit!!!
great band not only could they play they new how to party
And they knew how to make a crowd party with them
Absolutely! And you partied with them. If you get a chance, catch the video of these guys on David Letterman... especially David's very last comment about the Beat Farmers. So funny
I was a friend of Buddy Blue in La Mesa Ca. He told me once that he wanted to do certain covers because the artist's record label would notice them. Buddy was huge Neil and Springsteen fan and wanted Bruce's attention regarding their version of Reason to Believe, for example. Lou Reed comes to mind also (There She Goes Again).
I knew him from our days on the newspaper staff at Grossmont College. He was developing his style as a writer, and music critic then, as well as his playing. We didn't always agree about the definition of "good" music, but he definitely had an appreciation for a wide range of artists, and liked to write about them.
Just as they later were, his early reviews were always both opinionated, and well-informed. I may have thought that he was mistaken some of the time, but it was never because of a factual error. He always had those down.
I ran into him a few years later, at Pete's Place, and bought him a shot of Maker's Mark. I also got to see him play there a few times, not long before he passed, with "The Flying Putos." We stopped by his place one night, after the show, and I was amazed by his collection of CDs. They took up a whole wall. He definitely hadn't stopped looking for old, and new, inspiration.
I miss his reviews, and the great live shows. RIP Bernard "Buddy" Seigel. (All these years, I could have sworn it was "Siegel" but no one I knew dared call him Bernard.)
@@kurtkensson2059 You may have remembered a bunch motorcycle bums that used to show up to BF gigs. That was us. Buddy called me one Saturday afternoon and told me he was quitting the band and was striking out on his own. Monday , the San Diego Union carried the story. Buddy and I used to date a pair of sisters from LaMesa. Good times.
Fucking love these boys, RIP Dick and Blue, can't get enough, Joey is carrying the Farmers, check him out, always playing in San Diego some where, thank you Joey.
2 cOOL!
It's Jerry not Joey that's carrying on with The Farmers
@@brucedegrado8095
Actually Joey and Jerry have own projects but every year, Joey, Jerry, and Rollie get together and play Beat Farmers songs in California.
Wish they'd tour. Loved The Beat Farmers!!
RIP bro.
Greatest Civil War song ever.
Can't find the album version on youtube! But I'm still diggin this!
This year's Record Store Day features a new album by then that will include that song.
My favorite version apart from the just released acoustic from Mr. Young, which has to be the best.
the fact is, in my opinion, this cover is the best! I've seen these guys 60 or so times!
No time better could have ever been had!
"Live from London?" Wtf are you talking about? That was filmed at Universal Studios in Los Angeles!
JERRY RANEY ♡
than you Jerry for the memories I hope to see you and the farmers again, with any luck with my wife and or my kids!. Anyway keep It up!! much love!' ROCK on baby!!
Who mixed the snare drum?
What model Gibson is Jerry playing?
Looks like a Les Paul Jr probably with a P90 pickup
Not a Gibson but a custom replica of a Les Paul Junior DC with binding.
@@thedevilinthecircuit1414 You are for sure on this?
I also heard that it's an epiphone
The BFs put Neil Young to shame however love the tune
wtf? I thought this was the real beat farmers
What band are you thinking of?
Duh

Country Dick is there, he's just on the drums
