An attorney general is not a general. General is an adjective in that phrase, which just uses French word order as an affectation and a historical artifact. So Paxton is a general the same way I’m a general if my ticket says general admission.
Attorney General isn't a phrase, it's a name. Or do you think a Field Marshal marshals fields?
@@duncan-xg9sh I could argue with someone who thinks a name and a title are the same thing, or i could suggest you have someone read the dictionary entry for “attorney general” to you. Either way, by your logic, you could shorten “field marshal” to “field” because you’d be dropping the noun and keeping its modifier.
