Dear Finn and Sherlyn, I am glad you guys are all safe. That is the most important thing. I live up the hill, similar to your new home, in Southern California. Every year, about two or three fires come very close to our home. The insurance companies will not insure me anymore. What I have done to protect my property is make sure that the hillside is always clear of debris. Also, I have built some walls for fire break and have a path so firetrucks can easily access the property. My second line of defense is a sprinkler system on the hillside that I can control from my house. My third line of defense is a sprinkler system on top of my home; I also have a pool, and if you can get yourself a Honda 5 HP water pump, that would be the best with 1-1/2" fire hoses. I have 500 feet. I can go down the hill and another 500 feet up the hill and shoot a stream of 50 to 75 feet, so I also have 10 gallons of fire-retardant foam that hooks up to the pump. It will make your house look like a snowy Christmas Day. In the worst-case scenario, if I'm trapped, I have three scuba diving tanks in my pool area. In case the fire overtakes me, I just jump into the pool. I never had to jump into the pool yet, but I have come close and hope the house doesn't burn down and fall on top of you. You should also buy some fire gear, including clothing with fire-retardant properties. It's lightweight and mainly to fight wildfires, but I'll keep you from getting minor burns from flying ambers. Also, a helmet, Safety goggles, and respirators are a must. When you finish, you will look like a fireman; you should at least have a respirator for the helpers; manufacturer by 3 M, N95 8511 are the ones I use. Otherwise, within the coming days, they will start having difficulties breathing due to burned debris; the other thing that I have in my garage is an air tank with a regulator and mask, so if I have to drive through the fire, I will be able to breathe and not pass out and become a victim due to fire the sucking the oxygen entirely out. The last thing that becomes the hardest is getting the local fire department and the community together and teaching them fire safety. They need to realize that the weather has changed from years ago. It has become hotter and drier. It is a perfect combination for a major disaster. Good luck to both of you and I will make sure I see you next time I'm there. We will go diving in your new boat.
Shoutout to all your workers Finn they are really heroes, salamat sa inyong lahat sanay walang sinoman sa inyong lahat ang nasaktan👍maasahan talaga kayo 😘😘🙏🙏🙏🇸🇽
large water storage, power, a large pump, sprinkler system and a tractor. You've pretty much got it covered! When your pool is full a big pump and large redundant sprinklers. Now you can see your weakest area.
Finlynn take good care of yourself, and please remind all your workers,to be careful of throwing cigarettes (if they smoked) . Glad that you’re in your place . Please take good care finlynn.
Hi Finn, I am glad that everyone is okay and able to stop the wild fire away from your property and to the house, thanks to your workers, they are really very helpful and loyal to you, “ GOD” bless to all of you, and guide always

Clearing brush around the house is mandatory in fire prone California. One college turned on their sprinklers throughout the campus during a wildfire and it saved the college campus. Good luck on fire fighting and prevention.
Yikes!! As a resident of Northern California and Oregon, I've seen up close the damage wildfires can do. Be wary of fires re-igniting, esp on windy days, Finn & Sherlyn. (The infamous Oakland Hills fire in 1991 was particularly devastating.) Glad you're home to tend to the emergency. Take care.
Finn, lost my home in Malibu years ago. It's truly frightening and stressful. Put in a ground sprinkler system that can go off your pool water if Necessary.
Sorry you had such a scare from the fire. I’m glad you shared this. The aerial views were quite informative. Your plans for clearing land and a water reserve are excellent. A lot of people think tropical areas are spared the dangers of wildfires. Your video shows exactly how dangerous dry spells can be. It’s very common where we live for families to burn their trash and yard debris, making a smoldering fire. To keep the lamook away. They make the same common expression…..there’s no wind. But winds get generated really quickly. Glad to see you’re safe
Great work by your workers and the fire department! It's such a hard balance, making a fireline to prevent any wildfires reaching your house, but keeping enough vegetation to prevent landslides...at least you can prepare for the worst!
Sherlyn, you can not allow yourself to get stressed , it’s not a good thing for you, especially when you are planning on a future to have a child, just calm down yourself and Finn too, both of you just calm down, we love you dearly, “ GOD “ bless you both
Oh my! Thank God, Finn, Sherlyn, team workers, doggies are all safe. May God protect you all always throughout your lives. Our prayers are with you all always. From U S A
Glad y’all are ok. Sherlyn nailed it when she said maybe it’s a blessing in disguise. The high capacity pump sounds like a great idea too. Thanks for sharing.
Having come upon a house fire I had to alert the fire department and attempt to slow its destruction. Unfortunately water hoses cannot stop a raging fire, many homes destroyed that day and one firefighter lost his life. Smoke and the extreme heat can overwhelm unbelievably fast. Thank God the fire at your place was contained. God Bless!
Thank God you are all safe. God bless all those people who assisted to stop the fire from spreading. Take care and I am sure you learned so much from this scary experience.
Hi Finn In Australia We have Extreme Wildfires . Best protection is ❤ keeping trees & undergrowth near home to minimum. 2nd Once U get your Pool finished , Buy a decent reliable ( Honda , Yanmar style ) Or similar , not china , Diesel Fire pump ( They can run in thick smoke , where a petrol will cut out ) w Electric start, with in-built battery & solar , So it's Easy for Wife to start if U not home . Fire pump And proper commercial fire hose reels , mount on wall ,usually 19mm & 36 metre long , on each side of house . Pump Usually duel 2 & 1/2 " outlets on pump + 3" suction in pool with non return valve on suction pipe in pool . Your pool would run a pump for days 👍 Fuel tanks usually 6 to 12 + hours & You could Also look at putting a dedicated poly supply line underground To outlets Or Sprinklers Around perimeter & Eve's of U house . A lot of information on net Bushfire Protection Systems / equipment 👍 Also roller shutters on exposed sides of home helps 👍 You have, Both Built a Beautiful❤ Home , So a bit of extra money on Fire protection Is just like adding CCTV , Solar Security alarms Starlink etc. Had 40 + years experience 👍 . You can even have a remote start pump from Phone app Anywhere in world But U have a caretaker anyway 👍 ✅ AUSTRALIAN-GUY
Sorry to hear about this experience Finn, even here in NZ that's a big problem during summer time. Always have a handy phone # for the fire department. Great job for those who help you! - Ate Josie frm downunder
Crazy. I'd be afraid of that happening at night. It happens like that almost every week in California. The ones in California are really bad....you could wake up to the whole mountain around you on fire. Definitely need to be careful. But glad everyone's alright. I did laugh a little when they were literally "fighting" the fire in the beginning. But love how Filipinos stick together and take care of it right away and take care of each other.
Am sure that must be very scary. I hope you have water pressure installed as it really helps a lot. These forest fires are happening all over the world due to dryness and lack of rain. You can have the bushes cut down near your property and always water down the surroundings from time to time. Keep safe!
Oh Sherlyn and Finn I’m so happy they got most of the fire out. You do need to keep an eye on areas that they don’t start back up for sure. Hope everything is good now. I’ve been watching you for years I think from the start. Have a wonderful day.
@@FinnSnowVlogsor when the house is done and no more workers and you are in a diving expecition somewhere. You have to make some kind of backup or emergency plan.
@FinnSnowVlogs Living in California where wild fire or just ordinary neighborhood fires occurs every now and then still makes me nervous and scared because it happens anywhere and anytime. I am glad it was contained and it happened during daytime and good thing you are home and your workers are there. Thank you guys for your quick response and I am glad no one is hurt. Always have a ready fire extinguisher, first aid kit, heart defibrillator and extra supply of water especially you live in the mountain. Sometimes some people are so careless, they start burning stuff around their properties , burning thrash, when they do some clearing to start farming on their land they start burning the grass or bushes. Stay safe and be careful.

Yes, I remember growing up there, even if its not summer, grass fires happen all the time and leaves a huge patch of blackened mountain side. Good thing you have a pool just in case to fight grass fires in the future.
Hi S+F , the swimming pool is really very important against the wildfire , my sister's family saved their hotel with the pool water two years ago after a huge fire in Evia, a Greek island ...Best wishes to you both from the other side of Earth ..!
Finn, once you have cleared out the dried shrub I suggest you start planting banana trees around the property as this tree is 95 % water and is a good fire retardant. Thank God everyone is ok.
Finn, I’ve seen a lot of suburban, grass & forest fires here in the US, what I’ve noticed is that firemen have created firebreaks around the perimeter of houses, residents pumping water from their swimming pools, utilizing garden hoses, enabling garden water sprinklers. You guys are fortunate enough that y’all focus & preparing for the worse experience. So having said all that, l guess you know what I mean? Anyway, well done & good job to your crew & the fire department, & stay vigilant at all times! ✌🏼❤️😎🇵🇭🇺🇸
Lucky. You had your team there.. once the pool is done. You need a stand by pump you can pump from the pool. Also lucky you have a concrete house. Take care be watchful 😊
Finn, before you mentioned the "allegedly" how it all started, i had the gut feeling that is where it all started...Love seeing the Bayanihan spirit kicked in, looking at how they tried to kill the fire with green twigs...that fire is close and you guys are lucky...God Bless to you and Sherlyn :-) by the way, I sent you a pm about fire hoses if you need some for future event (hope not), but you will never know...Fire is very scary esp. if you are way up there. My place in Carcar is way up in the boondocks also, thank goodness we have a free flowing spring to supply/fight fire just in case, you will never know...
You are doing the right thing about keeping the area around your house clear of any brush or dead grass. 13 years living in Southern California watching wildfires destroying many homes, it can be very scary with a little wind, the fires can travel very fast.
Awesome workers Finn! Use this scary experience as "a sign" . While your building your pool, put a drain in the bottom of the deep end of the pool, to use as a backup fire fighting water supply to protect your house. Who knows how bad it will get with Global Warming.
They do “KAINGIN” which is quite normal in the Philippines which means to plant the area being burned so it will be a fertile soil after burning. Usually they plant upland rice which is a very good variety of rice because it smells so good when you cook it and good to eat.
Wow! That was crazy. So much to comment on, but I will just pick 2. Those guys working to put out the fire were amazing. Unflinching against an impossible challenge. What a film maker. This chaos and you pull out your camera and take footage, edit, and add appropriate soundtrack? Wow!
Actually, this thing that happened, as you say, is a blessing in disguise so you can really future-proof your property from things that can happen in the future.
Scary! - Thank goodness everything is ok. Having firsthand experience with MANY Forest Fires (wildfires) are devastating. A breeze (wind) just makes them come alive traveling so fast - spreading so quickly and uncontrollable destroying everything in their path. The wind you had - you are very fortunate! Rained here last night in Duma and currently overcast - hopefully you got some of this much needed weather as well.
As an Australian I have experienced a lot of brush fires. Keep a good clear area around your home. Good I dead to get pump to use swimming pool water Be safe mate
Thank goodness it happened during daytime and while your workers were around to assist in putting out the fire. Glad to hear and saw nobody was hurt. Imagine if that happened at night... I have never experienced fire, but I can only speculate how scary and devastating it would be. Stay safe!
So glad you are all OK Finn and Sherlyn and a BIG CONGRATULATIONS to your work team so good you are keeping a eye on the outcome maybe you and the resident in your area should start a fire wach saty safe from me Michael from Scotland ❤
Scary! I’ve seen brush fires and what they can do while living in California. The power of nature is not something to be taken lightly. Good to see you have a decent perimeter around your home. Very good work be the crew to contain the fire. And always helps to have a fire truck available. Wishing everyone there all the best. Stay safe!
I had to check...he he he.... sure enough they were wearing tsinelas while fighting the fires! Joking aside, glad damage is minimal and no injuries. To all the expats out there, be nice to the locals, they are the ones who will come to help you, like they are your own cousins, brothers, relatives.....God Bless.
Thank God you are all safe and fire contained! Be careful about cigarette butts. This a horrifying experience and one can only raise awareness, prevent, and prepare. God bless you Finn!
Pretty scary! We feel you guys! Didn't know wildfire could happen there. Quick thinking on Sherlyn's part to call the fire department. Really glad the fire was contained. With this happening for the first time in your place will better equipped/prepared you in same situation just like Sherlyn said. Yes, shout out to your reliable workers, the fire department and your neighbor, thanks to them. Hope you have a peaceful/restful night despite all the stress. Stay safe guys and the Lord's protection be upon you all.

Hello Finn and Shirley. Bush fire is very scary situation. I am praying that it’s not going to happen again. It takes planning for fire prevention and what to do.
Yeah! that’s a very scary experienced. Your whole neighborhood should come up with fire prevention plans (specially clearing all dead weeds and trees) to keep you and your properties safe. Glad you guys and your properties are safe.
Fire awareness is always 🔥 the way along with preparation and readiness. Coordination with neighbors about plans to keep in place and even fire drills could help in case of fires. The best is always not having to fight a fire. I'm glad you were able to bring the situation under control.
OMG. God is in control. Thanks God for your guidance & protection to those helping workers of Sir Finn & Ms. Sherlyn & to Fire Truck peoples. God bless you & keep safe always.🙏✌💖
In the Philippines, we refer to this phenomenon as "ningas cogon". The fire will stop by itself and cease spreading if all the dried grass is completely consumed by fire.
Good grief! small or big fire at this time of dry season is a big no! The drone also helps a lot to plan the fire fight! Good for the quick action there by everybody Finn! other properties are also taken care off from fires!
Glad you guys are safe and at a good distance away from the burning dried grass and leaves. You can actually use the ashes for all your plants in your garden. Stay safe guys.
Probably someone threw a cigarette? Might be good in the future to put in a Firebreak surrounding your property. Always good when your off the beaten track with lots of vegetation growing close to property. It's a good precaution especially during dry months. Glad nobody was hurt and everything is ok. Take care. 💖
this kind of forest wildfire has always been my worrysome whenever i see people who love to build a home in the mountains.. i have watched how the US particularly the state of California .. and we all know why.. but then those forest fires were no longer limited to calif alone.. last year we saw the news about how australia and canada were also devastated by the same tragedy as well as some parts of europe. and now we can clearly see that this can happen anywhere. so just please be careful.. fires in the cities are so rampant due to carelessness but farms are no longer exceptions. we all love nature.. we love trees and plants but i think they should always just be our sources of food and sheds but forest is their home so let us always remember that forest is their kingdom. we should keep our distance where they exist so that their existence and ours wouldnt be put at risk. i think this a way how mother nature gives you back what you have been giving it too. it wants to protect you from future harms because you love and protects it too. thanks to this incident and consider it a blessing in disguise because you are now more aware .. isnt it.. because love begets love and respect begets respect. god bless you.
It's so scary. Forest fires are so dangerous and scary. In Canada last year, in 2023, 45.7 million acres of forest land were burned from wild forest fire. Please be careful and always educate the people around you and the community about throwing out cigarette butts in the grassy areas or walking around the grassy hills or forests. Lightning and thunder cause wild fires, especially if the weather is very hot and windy. Take good care of all of you. Water source is very important in your area. Hope and pray all of you are safe.😇🙏❤️
Wow that was scary! So glad the workers were there to help put the flames out and everyone's quick action. You were smart for having the water tanks, not the original intent but thank goodness!
Maybe do a controlled fire in small spots at a time (with lots of water on site), to burn the dry growth around the property. That might give you a buffer a zone in the event of any future fires outside your perimeter.
Be safe . God is with you, because you are family oriented . just clear your surrounding from bushes bushes and dry grass . Is the fire started by nature or lightning and thunder . or a man tthrow away his cigarrette to bushes ? . I know you feel stress and scary .
Snakes! Those fires might have driven some snakes to take shelter somewhere cool for respite. If heat is excessive snakes tend to wander around seeking cool comfort. Be careful of the cool dark places in your house. They could be hanging out there.
Finn . What is your plan of action to protect yourself and your property? May I suggest that you could have your property chicken wired all around and bring in 5 make and 5 female goats that would do the cleanup of high inflammable grass. Just my take . Peace out!
Visiting Philippines for the first time and in last few days drove from Manila to Subic and back. Saw 10 fires going on just by the highway. Nothing big a local fires. I imagined people are this way fertilizing the soil. Something people did where i live but is forbiden for some time But seemed very dangerous since it is very windy here.
I have about 166 hectares of Lob Loly pines in Alabama USA and am always on top of doing Prescribed Burns. Educate yourself and learn to do prescribed burns annually. Tilt the soil around your property yearly. I have tens of thousands of trees to preserve. Arm yourself for dry weather in the coming years.
YOU NEED TO BUY AN INDUSTRIAL WATER PUMP THAT YOU CAN USE IN AN EMERGENCY AND TAKE WATER RIGHT FROM YOUR POOL. I AM NOT MADE, JUST WANT TO GET YOUR ATTENTION 😉
Mindanao been getting all your rain. So curious how conditions can be so different from one island to the other. Hope you get some much needed rain soon; that was too close for comfort. Scary, and I agree with Sherlyn that it was a blessing in disguise, so you can be better prepared, even if you never need it, and lets hope you don't. Kudos to the construction guys.
NO COGON AROUND the perimeters. They are very easy to ignite. We had several occurrence at our place due to cogon. We eliminated them and hopefully wildfire will nit happen ,uf it will, then at least we have no Cogon.
Dear Finn and Sherlyn, I am glad you guys are all safe.
That is the most important thing.

Good idea to clear those dry bushes and keep around your house clear in the future too. It amazing how fast fire travels up hills with a bit of wind.
Fire is the scariest thing travels so fast and hard to contain 😅
Wow!
That swimming pool will be handy in no time., stay safe guys.
Glad all is well, happy you’re wearing sunglasses that have both arms 😂
On the bright side, now you can ponder and how to set up a contingency plan for this kind of risk. A lot of your viewers have really good suggestions.
Good I dead to get pump to use swimming pool water
Be safe mate
Wildfires are really scary. I live in Oregon & I’ve seen what wildfires can do, watch out it can reignite🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thank goodness it happened during daytime and while your workers were around to assist in putting out the fire. Glad to hear and saw nobody was hurt. Imagine if that happened at night... I have never experienced fire, but I can only speculate how scary and devastating it would be. Stay safe!
Be careful always Finlyn and all the people out there….thank you to all your workers they are heroes

Locals already know that... Because it is almost happening every year... Welcome to the neighborhood Finn...
Yeah! that’s a very scary experienced. Your whole neighborhood should come up with fire prevention plans (specially clearing all dead weeds and trees) to keep you and your properties safe. Glad you guys and your properties are safe.
Thank God you got on top of it Quickly, an bless your workers, for jumping into action so quick 😮
Fire awareness is always 🔥 the way along with preparation and readiness. Coordination with neighbors about plans to keep in place and even fire drills could help in case of fires. The best is always not having to fight a fire. I'm glad you were able to bring the situation under control.
Super well done to the workers who got in there and halted the fire . So frightening . And as Sherlyn said , it is a learning opportunity .
It’s good nobody got hurt. Suggestion: make a wide buffer zone around your house. Clearing bushes and dry grass/ weeds. Be safe always
Oh my, that's scary ☹😧 good thing the road was already done or else it'll be very difficult. Take care 😊
WOW!!!sooo scary Thank GOD🙏🙏🙏 you guys are safe and no damages to your property shout-out to your workers too.
Hi Finn & Sherlyn, I was also stressed watching the wildfire, thanks God everything went well. Take care everyone🙏
That was scary Finn. Wild fires are not a joke. Stay safe.
Be careful Finn and Sherlyn . Watching from Switzerland
Probably someone threw a cigarette? Might be good in the future to put in a Firebreak surrounding your property. Always good when your off the beaten track with lots of vegetation growing close to property. It's a good precaution especially during dry months. Glad nobody was hurt and everything is ok. Take care. 💖
Thank God you did not lose all you invested it would have been a terrible loss glad everybody is okay
this kind of forest wildfire has always been my worrysome whenever i see people who love to build a home in the mountains.. i have watched how the US particularly the state of California .. and we all know why.. but then those forest fires were no longer limited to calif alone.. last year we saw the news about how australia and canada were also devastated by the same tragedy as well as some parts of europe. and now we can clearly see that this can happen anywhere. so just please be careful.. fires in the cities are so rampant due to carelessness but farms are no longer exceptions. we all love nature.. we love trees and plants but i think they should always just be our sources of food and sheds but forest is their home so let us always remember that forest is their kingdom. we should keep our distance where they exist so that their existence and ours wouldnt be put at risk.
i think this a way how mother nature gives you back what you have been giving it too. it wants to protect you from future harms because you love and protects it too. thanks to this incident and consider it a blessing in disguise because you are now more aware .. isnt it.. because love begets love and respect begets respect. god bless you.
Well done Fin and the boys. I suggest you surround the perimeter of the house with water sprinkler .
Oh my God. Please do take care guys. Praying for your safe and the new house.
Snakes!
Those fires might have driven some snakes to take shelter somewhere cool for respite.
If heat is excessive snakes tend to wander around seeking cool comfort. Be careful of the cool dark places in your house. They could be hanging out there.
Very scary indeed. Glad you guys and your home are ok. It's a good thing it didn't spread fast and far.
At least this happened at the earliest time of your stay there. Now you can be more prepared because you are more aware. Keep safe.
Thanks God it didn't reach your house! I hope you find ways to prevent wildfire near your place.🇵🇭🇧🇭🙏 salute to your guys!👏👏
YOU NEED TO BUY AN INDUSTRIAL WATER PUMP THAT YOU CAN USE IN AN EMERGENCY AND TAKE WATER RIGHT FROM YOUR POOL. I AM NOT MADE, JUST WANT TO GET YOUR ATTENTION 😉
I will
Thank God that the team got on it quickly, stay bless young brother
Mindanao been getting all your rain. So curious how conditions can be so different from one island to the other. Hope you get some much needed rain soon; that was too close for comfort. Scary, and I agree with Sherlyn that it was a blessing in disguise, so you can be better prepared, even if you never need it, and lets hope you don't. Kudos to the construction guys.
good that everything did go well this time Finn..... just be safe and take good care of you my friend.....
im a big fan Finn im so glad your house is ok
SHE IS RIGHT! BLESSING IN DISGUISE
NO COGON AROUND the perimeters. They are very easy to ignite. We had several occurrence at our place due to cogon. We eliminated them and hopefully wildfire will nit happen ,uf it will, then at least we have no Cogon.
