IMO,the best film noir ever and my favorite. What I love in this film is the crackling dialogue written by the fine screenwriter,Daniel Mainwaring. The superb line said by Mitchum after Greer betrays him for the 'umpteenth' time, "Baby, you're like a leaf the wind blows from gutter to gutter". You just can't top that one
Love to hear of people finding the classic noirs. BTW it so happens that Noir Alley broadcast "Out of the Past'' yesterday and today; the new intro/outro will be posted on this channel early tomorrow morning. There's also a previous airing (Jun 4, 2017) on Noir Alley featuring Eddie with one of Mitchum's sons, Chris Mitchum. You can find that intro/outro on this channel as well.
Absolutely my favorite noir movie mitchum and Greer have such electricity that it feel's these two should have hooked up in real life......wonderful truly wonderful
Totally! I love this movie. I need to find out exactly what Mitchum means with Well, build my gallows high, baby. Said right after Greer says that he has no one left to deal with but her. If you know please clue me in. Thanks.
A good one indeed but my fave noir - not that ANYBODY CARES - but if you're turning someone on to this genre ... Kiss Me Deadly Touch of Evil Yes two great Great GREAT films!!!

@@stevemossholder Mitchum is quoting the title of the novel "Build My Gallows High" by Daniel Mainwaring from which this film is adapted from.
Having an audience want more and more ❤
The Great Jane Grear. Taylor Hackford cast an older Jane in AGAINST ALL ODDS, which was a remake of OUT OF THE PAST. So cool.

Kiss Me Deadly
Touch of Evil
Yes two great Great GREAT films!!!
They are terrific films!
Jane Greer is so great because she doesn’t look or seem a femme fatale.
